The funny thing about this show is it was filmed during 2017 where they recorded and released 5 completely different sounding albums in one single year. As good as this show is, you can see and tell throughout how absolutely exhausted the guys are.

There’s something about discovering a new band through live performance that can’t be beat. If you’re looking for more contemporary rockers check out Ty Segall and any of his projects. My sister asked me to drive her to his show a while back and I was completely unfamiliar with his work. I ended up buying a record from him and getting it signed after the show. I’ve been a huge fan ever since.
King Gizzard has just gets better and better...they release anywhere from 2-5 albums a year...and explore so many different genres and sounds. Super cool band.

I was crying when the lights came on and the show was over. I will see them everytime they come back to the states.

These guys are crazy. Been following them since their album Quarters, though I'd heard of them before that. I saw them at Glastonbury Festival twice over 2 days, just after they released the album with this on (the 3rd of 5th in 2017 from what I remember). They were literally playing these crazy tempos and time signature changes, no errors, 45 minutes straight, on the hottest days of the year. Love them. If you get the chance, listen to Nonagon Infinity, incredible album!

There were 7, the drummer with the blue shirt and glasses left. He handles the record label they made for their band. I believe most people believed him to be the less talented drummer of the two, but he is good at handling the other stuff. So 6 now.
Saying he's not as good of a drummer as Michael cavanaugh is like saying that Jimmy page isn't as good of a guitarist as Jimi Hendrix. Yeah it's true, but they're just both too talented for it to really matter.

All this time later, I highly recommend reacting to something from King Gizzard’s 2022 Bonnaroo set. Particularly the tune “Work This Time” has tons of great subtle leads and harmony throughout, and then Joey busts out a face melting, Zappa-esque guitar solo.

Yea, 17 albums in 10 years is pretty darn prolific. They also have insanely good videos, run their own music festivals occasionally and push genre boundaries constantly. Microtonal and polyrhythmic music, plus a fan base like no other. Check out the Gizzverse!
Yep. I first discovered them when I was looking for good examples of microtonal music. Then I came across something of theirs that wasn't microtonal and was a little disappointed that it sounded kinda like generic pop rock until I picked up on the wicked polyrythm that was going on. Everything I have heard of them has something cool and weird going on.
If King Gizz's rhythms are simple, 99% of music is brainless baby stuff. I mean, c'mon, they avoid simple meters enough to make Tool look pedestrian. You must mean this track in particular is relatively simple to some of their other stuff.
You didn't even catch the time signature changes. I highly recommend watching the rest of this concert, they basically do 25 minutes non stop of that except it gets even crazier

Was lucky enough to catch them at a small bar in Austin when the 2016 Psych/Levitation fest unfortunately had to cancel due to tornadoes, ending their amazing, but short lived, run as a camping festival. True champs! Also caught SunnO))) open for Sleep at the Mohawk. Epic.
