As I watched this I realized Billy has embodied those old blues men he saw growing up ...right down to the way he drinks and talks like ...a coooooool cat ....who isn't prepared for class and doen't care but wants to just feel goooooood daddio. haha its like he even putting on a show in the why he speaks. giving us the experience he had as a kid talking to these other worldly bluesmen... who were also drunk too id bet hahaha
Embodied them so much, They copped John Lee Hookers riffs in La Grange and ZZ Top got sued by Hookers song writing partner and copyright holder for it. John Lee wasn’t personally involved in the law suit.
I just got me one of them yellow telecaster but the Squier brand . I bet one day hangin out with you old boys I could learn so much . I started 2 months ago at the age of 63 because my back is messed up and I figured if I’m sitting on the couch I’m going to learn something. Thanks for the little bit I picked up on !
This is so inspirational I had to find out how's it going now that you've hopefully been playing for 9 months now! I'm 59 and I've been playing for 47 years but I've learned from someone who's been playing only 6 months before, and that's the lovely thing about playing the guitar!
I’ve never really watched an interview or heard Billy speak before outside of the music. It’s pretty apparent that he is just the coolest dude on the planet
Nutbush, Tennessee, is about a 20 minute drive down the road from me. If you drive through, and blink at the wrong time, you'll miss it. Lol. RIP Miss Tina Turner!
Matt- The GRIN on your face at various points in this episode said So, So Much. This would have been an absolutely Bonkers Surreal place to find yourself in. Just Crazy. Thanks, Again!
I personally don’t need Poser Bob Ritchie Ritch the kid that grew up on a horse farm with a family Ford dealership that pretends to come from a trailer park to validate the greatness of Billy F Gibbons. Fuck that guy.
Just discovered this channel. Been watching a few vids. Just wanted to to say thanks for sharing, your vibe and the great guests. As a band member and a lover of the blues since I was little, this channel speaks to my soul.
I can't remember a time that I wasn't enamoured with the guitar...even at the age of five years old I would stand on a foot stool and sing along with Roger Miller's King of the Road and strum on a broom..and then at 11 my grandfather bought me a little acoustic guitar from Sears...one of the sunburst one's..and then learned the chords to King of the Road by listening to the record and then I would get up on the foot stool and sing and play....and now at the age of 63 im just as enamored with this wonderful instrument called the guitar....🎸🎸🎸
What I took away from this episode was something Marty Friedman talks a lot about in his interviews where he talks about playing, I know Marty Friedman and Billy Gibbons are miles apart but stay with me Its about how you play the notes, how far you bend, how fast do you bend? Do you slide into a note or do you hammer it on really quick? Theres tons of choices when it comes to how you play something and those decisions are what makes your voice on the guitar uniquely yours, Billy Gibbons plays the same way he talks, nice and smooth with a little bit of swaager to it Imo :) cool episode, this is my favorite series on UA-cam at the moment and look forward to every episode If you could get like Yvette Young, Mark Arm and Steve Turner, King Buzzo...man I have a whole list of who I'd like to see!!!
Everybody talking bout billy but the kids belting those vocals pretty good , caught off guard by that, at first i thought gibbons was just calling one of the audio techs on hand “kid rock”
( 94,99 )Survivor.Next time I'll bring my drummm to play with you all !!! Haha. I ENJOYED IT !!! Far out maaan. LOVE ,PEACE AND NOOOO FEAR , my friends ❤
Others correct me if I'm wrong, but Looks like a Fender Princeton silverface combo. The amp is cranked up but the mushy tone comes from the Esquire in the neck position. The guitar doesnt have a neck pickup but the neck position routes the signal through some caps which give it the jazz thing with gain.
Man this is exactly what music is all about, bunch of people just jamming good shit and having a good time
When Billy goes to solo in the intro the sound is just prefect! It's like a guitar and harmonica head a baby

Please keep going with this series! been waiting for new episodes for years!
This is not a new episode; it's a re-up. It was originally released in 2013. I do think Matt has some new episodes in the can, though.
This is the best host / interviewer ever. He's legitimately curious and genuine.
He's a good man. People open up to him every time.
He’s playing the dark circuit on the tele. I’ve never heard anyone play it and make it sound so good.
man I encourage you to get into it - sounds damn geeewwwwd!
i think it's an esquire
The guy from Whores does too - but it sounds VEEEERRRYYY different!
So glad to be able to see this video again along with all the other videos from previous years

This one and the josh one are pure gold for all us budding players young or old.
Wasnt planning on drinking but this interview made me crack a beer
Glad I found this again!
One of the smoothest cats to ever glide his digits over a fret board.
Matt Sweeney was so incredibly intimidated. Bless his heart and what an opportunity
The two of them actually play together in Desert Sessions
Love Billy and Kid Rock. They are fun.I don’t understand the winging about him. He’s fun.

This was in my feed, Simply Outfuckingstanding!! I met Billy years ago at the airport in Las Vegas, I had him autograph the back of my Copenhagen can.
That hyped me up right there 1:16
This has inspired me to play today
Billy is a class A trip man
Glad this came up on my feed again. BFG well lubricated & letting it rip.

Hello, somebody know what amplifier Billy is using here? Thank you. Regards Nick

@@sSkullCollector oké thank you very much for the info! Regards Nick
He’s got the aura of a old black guy lol. I love it
Who you think he learned from
I have a radial nerve injury and I thought my guitar playing days were over. Switched to 9's and I can play again.
i’ve missed this video
Hard to tie Billy into lessons when he's just having a good time. But the lessons are there.
instant classic : )
Ahh yes Kid Rock. Very respectable gentleman.
Lol
me too
That's why his friend Billy Gibbons was hanging out, drinking with him and jamming in his barn.
@@jomamma1750 He's being sarcastic. Everyone knows Kid Rock is a piece of shit.
You guys have to re-drop the josh homme guitar moves vid!!!
Ah! The power of open strings!
