She died on Carol Burnetts' birthday. She helped Carol in her career and they became good friends. Every April 26th Carol would receive flowers for her birthday from Lucy. Even though Lucy was in the hospital, she remembered to send Carol her bouquet. When Carol found out about Lucy's death she was devastated. During the first season she was pregnant with her first child but they didn't mention it because it was considered vulgar to show a pregnant woman on TV. Her ex-husband, Desi Arnaz, was drinking and took a rifle and shot at young trespassers on his property (the private beach area). When the police confronted him, he told them that he'd only been shooting blanks at them to scare them away (they were actually live rounds). Lucy was tipped-off by a friend that Desi's home was going to be raided to find the live ammo, prove him a liar and then arrest him because attempting to murder trespassers on his private beach was still illegal. Desi was too inebriated to help himself, so Lucy dropped by her ex-husband's home ... pretending to just be casually visiting the father of her kids. While she was there, she stashed boxes of blank ammo cartridges in his home. By the time the police raided Desi's house, they found those boxes of blank ammunition cartridges and concluded that Desi had been telling the truth. Lucy, even though she had long been divorced from "Ricky", was a true ride or die!

Martin Sheen clearly likes that perpetual F**k up Charlie Sheen over his straight-laced son Emilio. I suppose the answer to your question is that the rule-breakers are admired for rule-breaking because the ones who admire them secretly wish they'd had the balls to fearlessly take chances like they do.

When Ollie was very ill in bed, he and Stan used to watch her comedies when they ran on US tv, and both declared her their comedy heir....A HUGE compliment to Lucy and ably deserved...⭐

"I Love Lucy" show was a beautiful comedy and my son would watch reruns of the show. It was fun, clean, comedy that brought laughter into many homes across America. When people sat at home and watched it, they seen how things went on in life. Lucy made real life events into comedy to help people. When you can see real life events become comedy and laugh & relate, you forget about stress and problems. We need good ol fashioned comedy like this back on TV.

The early eps were enjoyable but for me, they got too slapstick. And I didn't like the way Lucy demeaned Desi.

Lucille Balll was intelligent, talented, a shrewd businesswoman and drop-dead gorgeous to boot. She was the complete exceptional package. Her love and marriage with Desi was tumultuous but she never publicly aired their private issues. Class and grace personified, at least in the side she showed the world. She is missed.

Lucy was a true genius in the entertainment world. Many who knew her from the cinematic world thought she was crazy to be on television. She replied, "Why should people go out and pay money to see me when they can see me in the comfort of their own home?" (I am paraphrasing). Afterrwards, stars from live Vaudeville and Burlesque shows, radio and movies such as Jackie Gleason, Jack Benny, and Burns and Allen followed suit. She was the first to do many things. A real trendsetter and trailblazer.

My grandmother was a nurse. A very respectable career. She had in those days very few options. Teacher, nurse, home maker, work in retail and food services.
My point. She held Lucy in high esteem. Outside of her absolute comedy gold, the lady was a TrailBlazer. I think that's why she loved Lucy.
I loved her for the comedy. Hilario
