I feel exactly the same way. To me this was the last time me and my friends would all get together at my house and just beat the hell out of each other with a wrestling game. Using the multi tap and just going to war for the money in the bank. After this game my friends moved onto online gaming on their 360’s. Halo 3 COD 4 and Gears. Some just got away from wrestling in general. I still bought some wrestling games after. WWE ‘13 and ‘19 being the last few that felt somewhat good. But they never captured the same magic of those ps2 smackdown and smackdown vs raw games.
I got all the games 05-08 and started watching in 08. Been in love since then. I somehow got 09 on wii. Then 10 I got on ps2 and 11 my mom surprised me with. 12 I got for Christmas. 13 is when I started pre ordering. The hype never died for me until 15
I prefer smackdown vs raw 2006, you can feel the pain you made, the blood on the stage last longer than 2007 and is more noticeable, the players get exhausted and tired after some minutes, feels real. Only downside is using directional buttons to move(but i get used to it, and i like).

Once the show became less about fighting and violence, and leaned harder into the soap opera side of things, I got bored. Not that the attitude era didn't have storylines and stuff, but they were just way more interesting and less drawn out in between the actual matches. WWE quickly turned into a dating reality show and stuff, where half the storylines were about people cheating on people, or someone chasing after one of the Divas, or some other nonsense. It was less about the actual wrestling, fighting, and matches, and more about the people themselves, and honestly, most of said people (at least as their characters on the show) weren't interesting enough for me to care about their love lives and whatnot. I wanted to see people get hurt and bloodied. I wanted to see the raunchy Diva stuff because it was entertaining and I was a kid. I wanted to see Stone Cold destroying cars and launch beer into the ring. I wanted to see the over-the-top TLC matches between the Hardyz and Dudleys. I didn't hate the time period after the attitude era. The "Ruthless Aggression" era wasn't bad. I enjoyed the Brock Lesnar stuff, the early John Cena stuff and whatnot. But it wasn't nearly as entertaining to me, and I wasn't obsessed with making sure I saw every single episode of WWE that came on. I'd be fine if I missed some, or a bunch. And then of course we have the "PG" era, which was just a load of crap to be honest. And nowadays, I don't even bother. I actually don't mind NXT as much as the main shows. NXT is at least a little more entertaining. But otherwise, I really don't watch WWE anymore. Still play the games though. Both old and new. Despite what 2K's done to the games, I still enjoy them.
Me too. It’s relieving to know other people who feel this way. I feel like everyone I know irl quit being a fan much earlier or didn’t start watching until right after this game came out.
Yea I was still watching but I really started losing interest around this time but I still watched wrestling for a few more years but this game and 08 with ECW added to the game was the last two wrestling games I bought paid for. After 08 it went down hill quick with every title after 08 and that says a lot about 08 that wasn’t nearly as good as 07. How bad as game developers do you have to be when two PS2 games out classed all the titles that came out for the next gen consoles. Don’t even get me started on the bullshit that came out on Xbox one and PS4 with the terrible 2K title games. I don’t think even make wwe wrestling games anymore because of the trash that came out with next gen consoles from the 360, PS3, Xbox one, and PS4. I was glad I had no regrets giving up playing these trash ass games. The controls were so much better on with 07 and even 08 and then they some how found a way to ruin every aspect of the games and made the controls just unusable and more complicated then needed when it perfect as it was with 07 and they changed it slightly with 08 on few things but still the same.

Really though you said it best this was the last big push loving WWE games and really forgot about these until I found this channel !! Great content man !! Subbed
It’s amazing how we all enjoyed this game when we were kids and now 13 years later we’re in our 20’s revisiting this game and reminiscing. This was my favorite Smackdown vs raw game. The control scheme was kinda hard to get used to at first but I got very comfortable with it. Kurt Angle and Batista were my favorite wrestlers to play as.
Lol man I loved this game's soundtrack. I remember singing *what's wrong with me? You wanna know what's wrong me?! I COULD ASK YOU THE EXACT SAME THING!!!* from "Alive and Kicking" anytime my grandma asked what was wrong with me.
I feel like 90s babies feel you the most. I’ll be 24 this month and just reliving this game through your video made me feel like I was 10 again. Thank you!
You were 7 or 8 then well I was your age in 2007 playing this game and still have it in fact I have them all love em all and been playing them this week waiting for NHL Hitz 03 and NHL Hitz pro to come in the mail 😃
My copy had a glitch where when “bullet with a name on it” came on it would freeze my game, but I never traded it in because it was still an amazing game
So glad I never sold any of my games, it was tempting because it wouldve helped with buying other games. Unfortunately I can't say the same for my old school pokemon cards. Cant fucking believe I sold all 230 of then back in 2004 smh...
Yeah, 2008 was good but the game wasn't legendary. The removal of a proper season mode in svr09 just ruined the game from then onwards. The last one I played was 2k17 and they still haven't gotten anywhere near even svr08
WWE svr 2006 and 2007 I known like all the wrestlers.....I play 2k 20 and I only know like 10 wrestlers lol 😂 2007 had the best soundtrack freaking 2k20 only has one ok song
Lol I remember when you’ use to be able to get a diva as a gf, and there were so many scenarios where she would cheat on you, get kidnapped , fight over her, protect her , rescue her , man those were the days , or you could’ve just went solo, and at the end everyone would respect you , you win the champion and confetti everywhere .
I lived in a pretty poor trailer park when I was younger and I was one of the only kids with an Xbox 360, and everybody used to come to my trailer after school to play saints row and shit, after alot of playing, well, my Xbox 360 red ringed, and all I had was my uncle's PlayStation 2, which he left me when he moved out of my grandparents house, I think you know where this is going.... This game right here, Backyard wresting with icp and shit, Madden 04 and gta San Andreas, became a weekend tradition for me and my friends. We used to make created characters in sdvr and then hold full tournaments against eachother for little bets like who would give whose lunch the next Monday and shit. No phones. No social media. Just meet up after school, or knock on a door, and play the PlayStation 2, me and my childhood friend Stan went as far as coming up with plans to both fake sick on the same day, and he would sneak over and we would just chill and play video games on the ps2 all day. Nostalgia is such a weird emotion, it makes me so happy yet so sad. I'm glad I was born pre social media, before everybody was a robot, don't get me wrong I love my social media and shit nowadays, but I'm just glad I didn't grow up with it. Couch co-op brought a group of poor ass kids together and we all just had a great time. Now you can barely find a fucking split screen game. I miss it all. Sometimes I just wanna go back to bumpin my mamas burnt rap CD's on my plug in radio, faking sick to skip school, boosie rap snacks, kool aid juices, and play station 2 with the friends I've lost contact with.
Love these comments man, because it's true, back in the day we all used to have friends over and we'll play PS2 and Xbox games all day and eat snacks. Times were simpler back then, now today........very different because of social media and other online crap. I miss the nostalgia man.
My favourite game of all time, best soundtrack in a WWE game, really fun gameplay, great modes and a good roster, this game is the best and I've been playing this for over 10 years. Holds a special place in my heart and it's too good.
I still play this game on my PS2.. It has simple things like gm mode, win/loss records, popularity instead of momentum and crowd reactions based on your popularity..
This is my brother’s favorite wwe game of all time. This was around the time my brother started to become a die hard wwe fan in 2006. This was when he watched it daily with our cousins and we still play this game, 06 and 08 today. He still remembers the controls and plays on legendary difficulty and wins every match and we remember the soundtrack to the top of our heads. That’s how much he loves this game and I love playing it with him, not to mention this is Chris Benoit’s last ever appearance in a game and I still miss him to this day. Can you please heart this comment, not for me, but for my brother? Please?
@Copper Colored it was not what I was expecting, but this may be the next big thing, a fan who is actually nice. Thank you so much man. It means a lot to see nice people on UA-cam.
The last time Chris Benoit was in a WWE video game ever! Unless, you are inspired to make a CAW of the Rabid Wolverine in all of his infamy amd notoriety
In the later games, it was a bannable offense until Hogan fans complained about the same treatment after Gawker case (officially moot from 2K19 in case of Hogan, though)
Seriously though, I remember my brother and I doing MITB matches and getting so sick of how long it was and we would work together to make sure one of us would win and not the CPU
I use to lean the ladder on the other ladder than run up and put both analog sticks up andi would hang on the briefcase while simultaneously draining the briefcase meter, saved me from losing or having long matches
I couldn't agree more. When I got into Wrestling, this game was the Last SVR game, that I've been looking for until 2009 on Christmas day. I've played SVR(05) SVR 06, 08, 09 2010 & 2011. 07 was the last one.
1.) The cover was smooth. 2.) Easy controls. 3.) You could go into the crowd which I thought was really cool 4.) The locker room was limited but nice. 5.) The roster had so many playable characters and buying them wasnt hard because you didnt have microtransactions. 6.) The season mode would keep you interested as there are so many decisions. 7.) The soundtrack is one of the best in gaming right up there with madden 10 for me. You could play for hours and not get bored probably the second best wrestling game I've played
Yo I don’t know if y’all remember but they even had their own website for this game called svr2007.com where u could just view the roster and their models in HD. So many memories. 2nd favorite WWE Game
This game brings back my best childhood memories... I remembered ill sleep over my cousin’s house and play this game all night and having his father coming and yelling at us for not going to sleep😪 good times
I remember after beating the superstar and legend challenges, and when the last challenge, Mickie James v Great Khali happened, I thought it was over. But I was so good with Rey mysterious in the game, I changed mickie James’ moveset to Rey’s, and pinned khali in like a minute in legend. Good times
Bro I deadass found this game in a dumpster behind church me and my cousin where playing soccer and somebody kicked the ball in the dumpster so I jumped in to get it and i found this I didn’t even take the ball out I rushed and put it in my backpack i was so hyped to get home that day
My older brother was into wrestling so much, so it got me into the games. I never really watched the show. However, My brother gave me his copy of Shut your mouth and I fell in love with the games till as you said 2007. I really didn't have friends to play with since most girls my age didn't play games. However, for some reason I was still able to enjoy it by myself. PS2 is also one of my favorite, the super Nintendo comes really close. This was also the last game I got from Circuit city! Which was sad because, I like them a lot better than Best Buy.
Gotta admit that I switched the controls back to the way it was in the previous game. It's weird how they made the likes of Rey Mysterio hurt themselves when trying to kick the likes of Eddie Guerrero. They could've at least given the Divas another exclusive match type. The commentary seems to be broken as well since they keep talking about wrestlers and moves that aren't even in the match. Also, perhaps my PS2 is getting old, but there's massive slowdown during Money in the Bank the more weapons get brought out. Still, great improvements were made overall. Nice to be able to use the cage as a weapon this time w/ the new animations for turnbuckle attacks. And I disagree about ladder matches taking longer to win. Maybe if you're playing one-on-one, but multiple competitors made the previous versions to be a matter of luck.
My favorite wrestling game ever. Still play it all the time. It definitely took what was good about 2006 and made it even better. And the reason I think it's better than 2008 is because that one has ECW which makes your roster too thin in (greatest mode ever) GM mode. Anyways, great video.
It wasn’t a let down but more of a disappointing transition. The game isn’t terrible but it’s no SvR 2006 or 2007. SvR 2008 is perfect example of transition the game was different just like the WWE was both were transitioning into a new era and unfortunately for the most part it was disappointing
My created character has the dopest entrance. Used to come out to “alive and kicking “ damn those were the days . We used to run weekly title defenses I held the intercontinental belt for two months straight lol

That song was my teen angst!

Yeah, 2008 was good but the game wasn't legendary. The removal of a proper season mode in svr09 just ruined the game from then onwards. The last one I played was 2k17 and they still haven't gotten anywhere near even svr08

I miss those days so bad.
Now nobody wants to play in person.
I ocassionaly can get friends to play nba2k or madden, but thats it.
Bro thanks for this detailed comment. I wish I could go back in time even for as few moments. The world was so different, worries were so different.

"Let's Start A Riot" and "The Champ" always got me hype
This is my brother’s favorite wwe game of all time. This was around the time my brother started to become a die hard wwe fan in 2006. This was when he watched it daily with our cousins and we still play this game, 06 and 08 today. He still remembers the controls and plays on legendary difficulty and wins every match and we remember the soundtrack to the top of our heads. That’s how much he loves this game and I love playing it with him, not to mention this is Chris Benoit’s last ever appearance in a game and I still miss him to this day. Can you please heart this comment, not for me, but for my brother? Please?

That's very dark considering what happened to Chirs Benoit.
Naw, the last game of Benoit is when people stop creating him
Seriously though, I remember my brother and I doing MITB matches and getting so sick of how long it was and we would work together to make sure one of us would win and not the CPU

I use to lean the ladder on the other ladder than run up and put both analog sticks up andi would hang on the briefcase while simultaneously draining the briefcase meter, saved me from losing or having long matches
This was my shit from my childhood between smack down vs raw 2006 , 2007 & here comes the pain.
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and 2007 were the strongest 2 in the SvR series in my opinion. Here comes the pain is a perfect game tho no question about it.

My older brother was into wrestling so much, so it got me into the games. I never really watched the show. Antisocial More to me 08 it’s the best one in the series
@@Kilo_wu39 it's definitely a strong entry
Maybe if you're playing one-on-one, but multiple competitors made the previous versions to be a matter of luck.
all that for what

My favorite wrestling game ever. Still play it all the time. It definitely took what was good about 2006 and made it even better. And the reason I think it's better than 2008 is because that one has ECW which makes your roster too thin in (greatest mode ever) GM mode. Anyways, great video.
Next: why was SvR 2008 was such a let down
I didn't think it was personally a let down though
It wasn’t a let down but more of a disappointing transition. The game isn’t terrible but it’s no SvR 2006 or 2007. SvR 2008 is perfect example of transition the game was different just like the WWE was both were transitioning into a new era and unfortunately for the most part it was disappointing
I really liked 08 personally more than 07. The manager mode has such longevity and still to do this day never gets boring
ThePortadump I agree it wasn’t the best but I still enjoyed it but it wasn’t the same
The lack luster roster was a letdown
