IITs & IIMs are facing a reality check when it comes to high salaries and 100% placements.
8000 IIT graduates are yet to find a job as per recent media reports. At IIT Mumbai the lowest salary package offered this year was Rs 4 lakh per annum, down from Rs 6 lakh last year, with 10 students accepting offers within this range. For IIM grads, who land jobs at multinational corporations and India’s top domestic firms, the unchanged payouts sober down expectations.

True!! These people are overpriced and assume they are stardust. Impossible to have a normal conversation with them. I never apply to companies which has IIT/IIM as founders. I have worked thrice with them and the attitude they carry is worrisome.
That's why i already called it. IITs are overhyped better to grind for IISER instead. Neet is also good but competition is very high. There's other courses too. Try your luck in upsc instead or something else like entrepreneurship etc

the money that you see in social media (of influencers) is all scam. None of them share their "true earnings strictly from social media". Even if they do, they are phtoshopping. Else if influencers were earning high, then IT dept in India/IRS in USA will have sent notices to such "influencers" . They don't even earn a fraction compared to people who have jobs/business which is why they never get any tax notices & IT dept of countries dont care about those earnings bcoz they are not big enough. Only employees/biz ppl/capital gain Taxes etc are under the IT dept scanner for tax evasion/less taxes paid etc bcoz these ppl earn high & earn pay high taxes

I am from NIT Raipur here company came for placement 400 students registered for each offer and only 2-3 finally received placement offers

A developed country has high earnings in all professions, and more earnings on risky ventures and hard working conditions.
Running a food business is much harder and risky than a white collar job in some office.
As these occupations pay more, no one is looking down on the food stall operators and it is indicative of India developing.
There will never be a need for MBAs or doctors or engineers or IAS etc. based on what the students aspire to get into.
Save money, invest in good assets, engage in professions that are useful to people.
Stop looking down on low skill jobs and stop focussing on status for getting married and vain "respect".
Don't think I am an uneducated or unemployed person or a food stall owner.
I knew these days were coming when I saw the abnormal rates of higher education and when the government of India announced more IITs and IIMs.
As a professional engineer, I knew how few job opportunities are compared to candidates.

This is my perspective as a founder who tried to recruit IIT grads - most of them want really high salaries and their expectations are crazy without experience. Min salary IIT people were asking me as fresher was about 14 LPA. I got two candidates from some good NIt’s for half the package. They are now growing in the firm and will soon get paid more

@@NatureAndMyself I had some exam with real life scenarios and based on whoever qualified we went to next rounds where we discussed pay expectations . I dint really only look for NIT or IIT. Even tier 3 and tier 4 grads gave the exam.

14lpa isn't crazy salary in today's date especially when your moving to a different city to work. If your moving to a major city at 7lpa you wont even be able ro afford to live alone in one room like human being s without spending more than half your salary. At this poijt your choice is to live like hermit crabs in shared accomodations or work only to pay the landlord. 7lpa is fine if its fully WFH

Just IIT tag will not guarantee your placemenet thats the reality now, who will hire you if you dont have up to date industry knowledge. College will not help you build that unfortunately. and students still think IIT mein hogaya to life set, thats why students from tier 3 and tier 2 colleges are pacing faster than the IITians because they dont have the tag so they have to work harder.
true af, I'm from a tier3 college, u told the exact truth. I've worked so hard and developed my skillset just becoz I'm from a tier3 college eventually did a 6 months internship in a product based company, also got a 7lpa job offer from a big mnc. many of my iit, nit friends are still unemployed
What you are saying is correct. Even in IIT's, curriculum is not properly updated and companies are slowly realising that. The one's who are getting placed are those who developed skills on their own.
@@sunithakumari333, I also studied in a tier 3 college and I agree with you. I also work in an IT company, and here we don't hire IIT ians. In fact a lot of mid level companies don't hire IIT ians.
Also in my state kerala, demand for JEE have gone down over the last few years. As a result, a lot of JEE coaching centres were shut down due to lower student enrollment. I am sure this trend will soon happen in other states including kota.
The other problem is IIT ians feel entitled and they won’t take up 7lpa job, instead stay jobless. You can see it straight from other comments

I have seen many students develooing lethargic attitude after reaching college and totally rely upon iit tag.
Also these stats include the students who are going for:
gate, ms abroad, cat preparation, upsc preparation, reserved students(scoring half the marks of general students score),also some starting their own startups and some applying Offcampus.
So stats are not totally correct but its true iit grads will have to face some heat and they wont get jobs easily if they just take iit tag as granted.

It doesn't matter which college you go to, at the end companies hire you for your skills. They only care about the work you can do in their company.
And keep in mind, that at the end, IITs are just colleges. Good colleges but still colleges. They can teach you and give you the best facilities but ultImately it comes down to you as an individual.

No one talked about the impact of AI. I can see the impact of AI in my work. Now you need less people to do the same work. The direct impact of this is on the freshers. Companies are hiring less of freshers and leveraging more of AI.

Student should be cautious before choosing branch in IITs . Branch selection also matters (merely IIT tag is nothing) . Student should focus on good score in Jee advance to secure top branch (or atleast core-engineering branch) . Lower branch with IIT tag may not bear fruit. So all students preparing for Jee should work hard more . Target 200+ score in upcoming JEE exams . Best of luck.

Getting 200+ score in jee is also not a piece of cake. If everyone did the same thing then those branches would also suffer as demand would be high and supply will be low. It's not feasible anymore
I did this mistake in 2017..I joined IITGN mech leaving NIT K CSE.. one of the worst decisions of my life.. But fortunately after graduation quickly cleared a decent government job and very satisfied by that.. I hate that IIT tag.. Unnecessary expectations

@@RangeethaRRK What I'm trying to say is that before getting admitted into an IIT or IIM, having previous work experience will be very helpful in landing you with a placement offer as you'll not be considered a novice or fresher and it'll boost your career. It could be any job, be it the lowest of the low position. What matters is work experience. You can't expect an employer to give you the position of a manager right away just after you completed your masters from an IIM unless you have a knack for the job. You'll have to start low and slowly go up the corporate ladder and reach your destined position.
IIT is not started for getting a job , its enhance innovation in the country as well as commence new business opportunities after graduations . Working as long as under a cooperate companies a foolish idea

Even if there were fewer IIT's and IIM's, these students would have existed and studied in other colleges. But that does not change the overall national unemployment crisis. Due AI, ML era number of jobs are decreasing. Only manufacturing, logistics , infrastructure jobs will increase. Accounts, finance, marketing, design jobs will decreasing due to online, advanced software options.

These are the 50% Reservation Garbage. Me and my friends who are just above average in studies got placed offcampus from a shitty tier 3 college. We found companies and applied on our own. We didn't rely on our shitty college to get us placed and took the matter in our own hands.

Don't blame it on the global slowdown, this will only please the ruling politicians in the country. Unlike its South East Asian neighbours or China, India is unable to create jobs for its talented youth.
