@@ComunistaIndio Not always. Yes some of them were rich merchants who traded in cotton and opium but most were not. Most parsis live in large tenancy properties taken on low rents and now they own it because theyve had it for over 70 years. Yes, the British gave land to the Parsis in Bombay and Dadar, including land for a Tower of Silence, a fire temple, and a model neighborhood:
      Tower of Silence-
In 1673, the British gave the Parsis land on Malabar Hill to build their first Dakhma, or Tower of Silence.
      Fire temple-
The Parsis were granted a plot of land to build a fire temple after showing that their faith was similar to local beliefs.
      Model neighborhood-
Mancherji Edulji Joshi, an engineer, convinced the British to set aside land for lower middle-class Parsis. He created a blueprint for the neighborhood, including the types of trees and flowers to plant.
      Dadar Parsi Colony-
The government leased 440 acres of land to the Parsis for selling. The land was planned to be a mix of residential, commercial, and institutional uses.
      Shipyard-
In 1736, the East India Company invited a young Parsi foreman and his carpenters to Bombay to build the Bombay shipyard.

Im not being rude but isnt that how the rest of Mumbai acts to people with out a home, asking migrants to pay 35 to 40 thousand for a 1 bhk while these people are enjoying benefits in the 21st century?? And the govt slapped the Land Ceiling Act on the natives who owned much smaller parcels of agricultural land and paddy fields. They were forced and pressured to give up their lands to build the airport and university. There was little to no compensation. Lands were stolen and illegally acquired in the Western suburbs. Santa Cruz, Parla, Kandivali, Borivali, Poisar. Same at Thana, Kanjur, Vikhroli.
People had houses clustered in Gaothans to look out for each other and aid community loving. And their gaothans were surrounded by fields. All of that was taken away by the Land Ceiling Limitations.
And then the gaothans were slummified and displaced locals in the 90s thanks to gunda politicians who wanted to reap slum redevelopment benefits.

Parsi businessmen were some of the biggest beneficiaries of the British. The British considered them a better class of people than the indigenous population while the businessmen stayed loyal to the British and aspired to be of equal stature with them. Parsi businessmen have a murky past and most of their wealth is in some form bl00d money. With the far right push for Parsis' as the model minority this aspect of history will be lost. All that being I believe the average Parsi person is nothing like those evil businessmen that still rule over us today greasing palms of politicians and playing both sides.
