I think BKXC is the best marketing avenue Ibis has/had. To be honest if it weren’t for BKXC I probably wouldn’t have much awareness of Ibis bikes. Not for me to say how Ibis should spend their marketing budget but BKXC seems like a pretty good option.
I honestly never took ibis seriously until I watched your Portal video... I still queue up that vid on the way to trails to get pumped.. legendary things you did on ibis bikes as a "normal" guy.. so inspiring!
Brian you've done a good service for Ibis by riding and showcasing their bikes. If it doesn't work out with them anymore some other bike companies will come calling. Good luck
My Email to ask Chuck: Started watching Brian Kennedy about 6 years ago. Back then I was on my first stump jumper in Walnut Creek, Ca. His videos inspired me to get further into the sport. I was intrigued when Brian got into a ripmo v1, but I was newer and wasn’t ready to jump up to that price point. When I moved to Tahoe Donner, Ca 3 years ago Brian had just got his his v2 and I knew it was the bike for me. Purchased mine with carbon rims/ hydra hubs. My GF watches almost all of BKXCs videos as well and came to the same conclusion. This bike was good enough for him it’s good enough for her, so 2 years ago she got hers. (She particularly likes when his wife rides with him as she relates and thinks she’s a good value add to the channel). Last season I built up a DV9 hard tail, my GF built up another carbon hardtail only because after 5 months of searching we could source her a DV9 frame in small. Next season, thanks again to BKXCs videos we will be shopping Exies. I’m not thrilled with your move into the moped market but dropping BKXC seems like an even worse move. Just my 2 cents.
I tried several times to buy a Ripley AF frame during the Pandemic because of Brian’s videos, but they were never in stock at the time I was in a place to buy one. Maybe one day, but this channel led me to Ibis as the #1 choice in my search.
Just wanted to thank ya man for the discount. I just ordered carbon bars, stealth decal kit, valve stems and hells gate grips appreciate it man and ride on! 🤘🏿 You truly are the inspiration and the reason why I got into mountain biking have traveled and experienced a lot in the last 3 years just to hit sweet bike trails.
Just sent Chuck an email as well. Got a Ripmo last year and a Ripley AF for my wife. Had been saving up for many years, and went with Ibis because of BKXC!
Big Thank You for convincing me to go the Ripmo way, when I was lost in the dark. Never regretted it. Thinking of changing my AF to Carbon V2 now, but am tempted with all the new stuff... I also used your build sheet to complete my build that might resemble your parts choice, wink wink. Wishing you all the best for your future adventures! Greetings from Switzerland! J
I think you forgot to mention how well the Ripmo climbs. I have a Ripmo AF, and while not as quick as the Ripley AF I used to have, the Ripmo AF still climbs really well and doesn't ever feel like it's slowing me down.
Have followed you for about 3 years and very surprised with Ibis- must be some tough times predicted in the industry. I bought an Ibis V2 because I love the look of them, their all round ability and your videos showing they are up for the task.
Think this is the best colorway they've released so far. Like the new logo but think they should have stayed with a real head tube badge instead of sticker. Hope they see the value in BKXC sponsorship. Look how many Rallons people must have bought from his time working with Orbea.
It was watching you and the Loam Ranger loving the heck out of your Ripmos that made me buy a Ripley AF as my first ever full suspension bike 🎉 I love my ride to pieces, a big Ibis fan & it's thanks to you!
Can't believe Ibis is letting you go Brian! I considered an Ibis as my next bike because of all your videos I cant see how they don't think your an asset to them! Keep up the great videos been watching for 2 years. Love all your knowledge and how you really talk about the area and just get so in depth about where you are! Edit: I understand that the bike industry is laying people off but I feel like some exceptions should be made for some very likeable and highly qualified people to do your sponsoring I guess of your products. I mean I bet Brian helped sell tons of bikes. He's been riding ibis for how long? Look at his following. Maybe the bike industry shouldn't have gone so balls deep in the pandemic and wouldn't now be so overspent and have to cut costs. Maybe the CEO of these companies should take a pay cut and keep people employed I like how to keep costs down we fire highly skilled and qualified people while the business makes record profits. But then complains the employees are bleeding them dry. No you are as an owner.
Basically every sponsored UA-camr just got dropped by every bike company. Ibis dropped Brian and Ryan (Loam Ranger), Specialized dropped Heather Munive (Giant may have picked her back up or she bought a new Giant on her own dime). UA-camrs who were relying on sponsor money are probably done, ones with well established Patreons should do ok.
Yup. I bought a medium in bug zapper blue based on the fact that we're about the same height, and you were loving the smaller bike. I test rode it of course, but seeing you shred your Ripmo is what gave me the idea.
It's understandable. A little bit of searching can give you an insight to what's currently going on with the cycling industry. That said, the bike looks so cool.
I have an ibis Ripley AF large, fox 36 on the front at 140 travel.. super light.. light bicycle wheels with onyx vesper hubs. Sram xx1 eagle drive train. Bike Yoke dropper post with bike yolk stem!! 30 pounds.. Bike is a ripper I love it
Just sent chuck an email as well. I have the same V2S and am loving it. Your channel helped me make the decision to move from Santa Cruz bikes to Ibis. Best of luck!
It's totally because of your channel and great 1st person POV riding and amazing worldly MTB adventures that I even heard of Ibis cycles and have decided to buy my first full suspension bike. I'm a Midwest guy so we don't have the insane climbs and ultra rocky descents here especially in the metro Chicago region so I bought an Ibis Ripley AF... Perfect for me.
That's a nice bike. Looks good in that color combo. Don't rely on that air tag. They changed the way they work, and it will actually let the people who stole your bike know they are being followed by an air tag if they have an iPhone. Be careful.
Oh man, that’s pretty much the exact model I’d want if I got an Ibis. Love me some bronze and orange accents! Great content as always, much love from Texas!
I've been shopping (saving) for a new bike for about a year now. When I started, all the usual big names made up my list. I'm not exactly well versed in all the options out there so I never even considered Ibis until I got hooked on BKXC. I still need to go test ride a few different options once summer rolls around but the Ripmo is now right at the top of my list. If you can only have one it sure seems hard to beat!
I really like Ibis. I've had an HD5 since they first came out. Made riding with rheumatoid arthritis much more comfortable. I have all the wireless components, just cause it is easier to push a button with my joints. The Ibis has allowed me to ride trails I more comfortably than my old Scott. I sent a letter to Ibis explaining everything and they replied with a very nice response. Also said they would send my letter to all of their employees. Unless something drastic happens, this will probably be the last bike I ever get, since I won't be able to ride much longer.
As an east coast rider I would have never heard of ibis without bkxc. Big mistake not keeping the sponsorship going. I’ll definitely be letting ibis know!
Great looking bike and the Ripmo is a hard bike to beat! I love the new RockShox suspension stuff and Hunter's SpolkeX wheels are fantastic! I expect those GX cranks will be seriously robust and cause no issues for a long time. Finally, I've been running a Trail 1 cockpit for a while and have two comments: Need a 50mm option for the Rockville stem and the logo/branding on the Crockett bars is too bold. It's great to get the brand out there, but it turned out to be too much for me Thanks for putting the videos out! Always enjoyable.
This is the response I received from Chuck Ibis: Hi Michael, Thanks for your feedback! We are super bummed to let Brian go, he has been an amazing ambassador of our brand and makes great content. In the future, we hope to sponsor him again and continue our partnership. We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your story. Thank you for the kind words regarding our bikes. Happy Trails, Chuck.
Watching you over the years made me confident that if I bought a Ripmo AF I would be able to pedal that thing all day around my local trails and be able to take it on weekend trips and not be under-biked. Just got Ibis s35 carbon wheels for it too and what a difference!
It's not just how Shimano brakes feel in terms of power, but I also prefer the ergos of their levers. The new 4 pots are really powerful. I'm a 260lb rider on a 50lb Rocky Mountain Instinct PP and live in the Seattle area = steep, long, muddy and tech downhills. XT's are the one finger wonders, and I don't worry about fade. I'd never heard of Ibis until I watched your videos. If nothing else, you brought awareness to that brand and probably a bunch of sales. Can't wait to see you ride this beast in south America.
Nice new rig. Surprised Ibis isn't a paid sponsor of yours. Your videos are a series of ad campaigns for the RIpmo, the way to climb on it, descend on it, you're able to handle anything the trail throws at you. Hopefully they come around and realize how much promotion you give them. I'm sure your skills have something to do with it too :)
Dude thanks for being honest about eewings. I was thinking about ordering them because of you. Finally an honest review. I’ll stick with my old sram after all. Never had one problem!
I would love to know the answer to this as well. I'm a hair shy of 5'10" myself. 30" inseam and I cannot figure out what size to go for med or large. I have no local ibis dealers to visit. It's so hard to find answers to in-between sizes.
When I was shopping for a new bike the Ripmo AF was top of my list based on build, price and gushing reviews. Demos were not happening and even if they were, they were far from home. Seeing Brian ride a Ripmo all over the place, Ryan sending his on gnarly lines, Tess conquering Sedona and Mo in my old stomping grounds of So CA and all over the place helped put my mind at ease to just order one. Love my Ripmo AF.
REVEL!! Check out the new revel rail 29er! Incredible bike and even more incredible company! That should be your next bike!! You’ll love the i9 hubs btw. May be loud but performance is unbelievable!
Hi Brian, thanks for the new bike video! Have followed your Ibis bike build videos since Day 1. I'm curious, if you weren't affiliated with Ibis, what bike would you buy? Thanks again mate.
Have you considered putting a Cascade link on your Ripmo? Keeps the top so plush while giving more bottom out resistence/progressivity at the end of the stoke kinda like a volume spacer. Also gives like 5ishmm more of travel in the rear. I have mine overforked at 170mm and have a Cascade linkage paired with a DVO Jade coil and it's so so sooo freaking good.
@@Happy_Biker oh that's a great point which I shoulda considered. Well, they're rad and as a bigger rider who prefers a coil I'm very happy to have the extra progression, if anyone is curious 🤙
I am considering raising my DVO onyx to 170 on the next rebuild. As well as getting a cascade link for my DVO jadex. On the downhills people say it really helped. How about climbing? Did 170 alter climbing very much?
@@T-rick imperceptibly in my opinion. The level of geo change is similar to the tire volume frame geo changes when you change a rear tire from 2.5 to 2.3 or something. The difference is there but really really minor. Where it's really perceptible is on fast square hit chonky stuff, the extra travel is amazing. Keeps the progression far from the top so you get super plush and super supportive if everything is set up right on damping and rebound.
@@genecarpenter1663 Road rides are pretty good, I ride about 2 miles from my house to the trails and haven’t had issues. Tires have a lot to do with it. I ride a dhr2 in front and aggressor out back. Heavier more aggressive tires would def reduce ride quality. It’s a great bike with reasonable geometry. Good luck with your search
U can get custom decals for your fork online. That's a beautiful bike. Unfortunately the bike industry is bracing for this oncoming hard recession everyone keeps talking about. Sometimes I feel it's better to quit speculating!
I think BKXC is the best marketing avenue Ibis has/had. To be honest if it weren’t for BKXC I probably wouldn’t have much awareness of Ibis bikes. Not for me to say how Ibis should spend their marketing budget but BKXC seems like a pretty good option.
Agreed.
I agree, UA-cam is the best advertisement platform for mountain bikes in my humble yet accurate opinion and BKXC is one of the biggest channels.
I agree. 💯
Agreed
100%. I looked heavily at its bikes and thought about buying a used one, but it still was outside my budget.
Of all the many Ibis reps, you have got to be the best all around for the vast majority of riders. You're a great ambassador.
I honestly never took ibis seriously until I watched your Portal video... I still queue up that vid on the way to trails to get pumped.. legendary things you did on ibis bikes as a "normal" guy.. so inspiring!
The eagle XX1 cassette in bronze would perfectly match the color theme ;)
Brian you've done a good service for Ibis by riding and showcasing their bikes. If it doesn't work out with them anymore some other bike companies will come calling. Good luck

It’s because the bike industry is crashing. Big Companies are laying off paid staff.

Bryan, thanks so much for all your love here in Kijabe, Kenya the trails here are running killer! We have just finished a few more trails!
I strive to obtain an Ibis...Thanks to you, happy trails.
Purchased an Ibis Ripmo AF because of you. Thank you for showing us about these awesome bikes.

I’m loving the spokes 🔥
Been on a custom bug zapper blue ripmo for 2 years now and I approve of this build. I like it better than your others. Clean and stylish.
Been watching BKXC since 2016. His riding has gone next level since he took up Ibis.
Ordered my new Ripmo Monday because of your channel! Thanks for all the info and amazing entertainment!
I bought a Ripmo because of your channel! Hope to see you riding them in the future, emailed Chuck!
Just sent chuck an email as well. I have the same V2S and am loving it. Your channel helped me make the decision to move from Santa Cruz bikes to Ibis. Best of luck!
You should get some silk graphics custom decals for the fork and shock! Lots of cool stealthy options from them!
Slick!

I got an Ibis Ripmo AF Deore back in September because of you Brian! I love it!
I've been shopping (saving) for a new bike for about a year now. When I started, all the usual big names made up my list. Only just got round to watching this Brian, but I sent an email. Thanks to you I bought me one of them ibis ripmo v2 bikes in blue and I love it!
That's awesome!
Just got a 2021 ripmo af! I live close to skyline napa, excited to see what lies ahead for me!
Love the look of the stealth build! Enjoy it and curious to see what bike comes in the future!
I really like Ibis. I've had an HD5 since they first came out. Made riding with rheumatoid arthritis much more comfortable. Love the bike and the build. That stem is SICK! When will they start coming out with more colors?
As an east coast rider I would have never heard of ibis without bkxc. Big mistake not keeping the sponsorship going. I’ll definitely be letting ibis know!
Shopping for a Ripmo now, mostly because of you- I just dropped Chuck an email. Love the new bike color!
i knew about ibis before seeing this channel but no doubt some have not heard of them
Great looking bike and the Ripmo is a hard bike to beat!

That copper and black combo looks sickkkkk!!
You and your content Brian with the Ripmo is why I looked at, and ended up purchasing my Ripmo AF. Sent Chuck an email last night on your behalf.
This is the response I received from Chuck Ibis:
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your feedback! We are super bummed to let Brian go, he has been an amazing ambassador of our brand and makes great content. In the future, we hope to sponsor him again and continue our partnership. We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your story. Thank you for the kind words regarding our bikes.
Happy Trails,
Chuck.
That shit is clean! Just got a ripmo, rode it for the first time today. Love it !
Watching you over the years made me confident that if I bought a Ripmo AF I would be able to pedal that thing all day around my local trails and be able to take it on weekend trips and not be under-biked. Just got Ibis s35 carbon wheels for it too and what a difference!
Nice thumbnail of the new ride & your Grandfather's bridge!
I think you should do a limited edition run of the copper stem
Magnifique VTT 😍🤩 bravo BRIAN 😉
There are two Ibis bikes in my garage because of you!
Happy New Bike Day! Enjoy your potential last Ibis... it deserves a trip to Australia 😃
I bought my Ripmo after watching you for a couple of years Brian.
BUT My buddy has some Magura's on his Transition Repeater, and while they feel completely different than my XT's (closer to SRAM) they are crazy powerful as well. They are the one's I would consider if Shimano went out of business. You are an excellent ambassador for Ibis, but the only constant in life is change.
I have my Ripmo bc of you Brian and i demoed a number of enduro-ish bikes...but i kept coming back to your videos and loving the look of your ibis and how stable it always seemed (except jumping lol!) and when @Wrenchscience had an XL available in '21 i grabbed it and custom built it from there..i have ridden a new Yeti 140, a Pivot Switchblade, a Giant, etc...i love my Ripmo.....
oh wait you said to email chuck lol, okay on it!
Cool bike, enjoy your trip. I just got back from riding Ecuador a bit. They wouldnt ship my bike because they had a oversized luggage embargo over the holidays. Weird. SO I bought a bike in Cuenca and left it there when I go back.
I'd never heard of Ibis until I watched your videos. If nothing else, you brought awareness to that brand and probably a bunch of sales. Not everyone uses affiliate links when buying gear even when that affiliate directly influenced the sale.
10-20 minute commercials for your product with hundreds of thousands of views, targeted views, is something most companies would love.
All that said, I understand the bike industry over-produced coming out of the height of the pandemic and needs to cut costs. Cutting revenue generators doesn't seem like the best place, but that's how it goes.
I just subscribed, because you have Spoke X Wheels. Love that bike too my son rides that bike and loves it.
Hope you enjoy Perú while you are here! Cuzco is a great place to ride
Full on enduro! Sweet build
I can’t wait to hear your comments in a few weeks regarding your new built. I have a Medium Scott as I am 5 foot 10 and I always have the feeling the bike is too small especially since I got a 35mm handbar. I can climb so easily but when going down, I’m always afraid to go over the bar. So strange as Medium seems good on other bikes like the Bronson SantaCruz of my friend but my Scott seems so small
Can't wait to see you ride this beast in south America.
sweet ride. probably the best looking one so far...
That is a great look. Black and Gold Stealth. I like it.
Nice. You've earned it.
Dude thanks for being honest about eewings. I was thinking about ordering them because of you. Finally an honest review. I’ll stick with my old sram after all. Never had one problem!
Was reach why you moved from large to medium? Asking because, I am 5’10” and on a large and I am think of sizing down. Curious to hear your story.
I would love to know the answer to this as well. I'm a hair shy of 5'10" myself. 30" inseam and I cannot figure out what size to go for med or large. I have no local ibis dealers to visit. It's so hard to find answers to in-between sizes.
Great man, you are coming to Perú 🤘🏼 Where are you planning to ride if I can ask? Let me know if you need any help or something 👍🏼
Bike looks super sick!
Definitely looking forward to hearing how you get along with air shock after riding coil for so long now
Such a good looking bike 👍🏻
It is pretty sick! I love the spokes
Bought a Ripmo after watching your videos.
My V4 was a similar colour scheme! Nice bike!
When are the custom colors on the stems coming out??
Have a nice trip. Peru is heaven.
slap a copper chain on that bike for that final touch
Please don’t!
And cassette
Awesome bike Brian keep up the great content and I can’t wait to see your next video on the first ride.
Nice ride! I sent a short but sweet email to Ibis asking them to support rad content creators like BKXC - my free-time depends on it!
To make your i9s quieter, remove the oil and replace it with grease.
It makes it quiet enough so that the camera won't pick up the sound.
Is this similar to what Specialized did by cutting their Ambassador programs? Seems like the bike industry is puckering up pretty tight for 2023
That is a gorgeous bike! You wouldn't be able to pay me enough money to use another one if it was mine...
I'm born and raised in Santa cruz at 7:40 I was laughing so hard...so true!
REVEL!! Check out the new revel rail 29er! Incredible bike and even more incredible company! That should be your next bike!! You’ll love the i9 hubs btw. May be loud but performance is unbelievable!
Looks like a fun bike man. Looking forward to the vids.
So Ibis thought it was a good idea to stop sponsoring one of the OG of UA-cam MTB videos who has 509,000 subscribers?? Good job Ibis!
Hi Brian, thanks for the new bike video! Have followed your Ibis bike build videos since Day 1. I'm curious, if you weren't affiliated with Ibis, what bike would you buy? Thanks again mate.
I was just about to ask the same question.
Nice build, Brian! So sick looking! Those spokes....🤤💯🤘🏼
Epic, can't wait for the Peru series
Have you considered putting a Cascade link on your Ripmo? Keeps the top so plush while giving more bottom out resistence/progressivity at the end of the stoke kinda like a volume spacer. Also gives like 5ishmm more of travel in the rear.
I have mine overforked at 170mm and have a Cascade linkage paired with a DVO Jade coil and it's so so sooo freaking good.
🤔 voids any warranty, I think, I'm not sure Ibis would approve if he's a rep for them
@@Happy_Biker oh that's a great point which I shoulda considered.
@@rileygoesoutside I like it, thanks for your thoughts!
Love my Ripmo v1. I don’t have the money to upgrade every year
It makes no difference unless biking is your full time job. The differences are so minor.
Scott, how do you like the Ripmo on street rides to get to the trails and drops? I'm looking at a 2019 Ripmo V1.

Road rides are pretty good, I ride about 2 miles from my house to the trails and haven’t had issues. Tires have a lot to do with it. I ride a dhr2 in front and aggressor out back. Heavier more aggressive tires would def reduce ride quality. It’s a great bike with reasonable geometry. Good luck with your search
Ibis HD4 for years, I moved on to YT E-Bike though, lots of great rides on the HD but just getting to old, need help these days to get up the hills.
Should try the DVO topaz t3 air. So easily adjustable and a quality shock
Hey Brian hit us up at better bolts and get some bronze titanium details for the new rig!
That’s nice that they doing that just like Yt Capra they using the universal hanger from SRAM
Nice to hear some honest feedback on the components you used to use or still use.
Never ridden an ibis...still emailed chuck and told him how i feel about dropping the bkxc sponsorship lol
The moment BKXC rides another bike, I too will sell my Ibis.
U can get custom decals for your fork online. That's a beautiful bike. Unfortunately the bike industry is bracing for this oncoming hard recession everyone keeps talking about. Sometimes I feel it's better to quit speculating!
