  • Make fried cheese with queso blanco. You might find the white cheese I use in the video sold as Queso Para Freir, Queso Blanco, or Queso Fresco, but many types of cheese can work for frying. You can fry cheese in just minutes and it makes a tasty snack or side dish. My sister gets queso frito with her breakfast from a Dominican restaurant, and it is a yummy way to start the day.

    My sister turned me on to this fried cheese after a side dish that she enjoys at a local Dominican restaurant...I lightly coated my cheese in corn flour, before frying but that's completely optional...hope everyone has a great weekend and a great start to the new year!

      Try a cheese product called La Chona. What I like to do for my kids is toast some wheat bread and spread some creamy pinto beans and top if it off with some shredded Mexican Blend cheese and fresh salsa picante. 👌

    There is a difference between Blanco and fresco. The latter is made using rennet and the former is curdled with an acid like vinegar. Also, massa you showed and corn flour are not the same at all. Massa is made by being processed with an alkali like lime aka potassium sulfate.

    OOOOH MAN! This stuff is good! I have been grilling and frying cheese for ~20 years and it is awesome! My personal faves is halloumi Egyptian cheese, minced garlic, lemon slices (or just the juice if you don't like the tart flavor); all of it drizzled with a homemade balsamic reduction. Tip: if the lemon is just too much, just make the balsamic reduction with a bit-o-honey to sweeten the reduction and it is "la dolce vita piccola!!!!" I have also put Medjool dates in a light oj brine overnight for the halloumi dish. You can't screw it up!!! Thanks, boss!

    Here in Texas, it's almost impossible to find a supermarket that DOESN'T sell a dozen varieties of queso blanco. Cut in small cubes, it makes a good low-carb substitute for potatoes when frying up corned beef. I started the new year with a wallop of nutritional goodness: sauteed a container of chicken livers, with steamed fresh yellow squash on the side. Not to everyone's taste, but I was that weird little kid who liked liver. Hope you and Camera Girl have a happy and peaceful 2021.

    I fry brie and camembert cheeses. I buy them relatively cheap in the supermarket. The expensive camembert just punktures and run out all over the skillet. Back in the 1970'ties we had small triangle shaped camembert cheeses. They were the best for frying cheese.

    Hello! Corn flour--the product you are using, is it the same as regular boxed corn starch or a different type of Mexican product?

    • @ChefBuckRecipes
      @ChefBuckRecipes  3 роки тому +1

      you can use either Corn flour or cornstarch for a light coating on the cheese before frying...they're both corn, but corn flour is made with whole kernel corn and will add a little more flavor, while cornstarch is made from just the "starchy" part of a corn kernel and has almost no flavor when cooked (because it's starchy and flavorless cornstarch makes a great thickener)

    If you are living in a none Hispanic Mexican state in boon doggies etc regular markets wont have it. Name is Tropical & SaveAlot had it $4 big one in fridge area. Bought 2, cuz not going back & had not half im ages & recalled it. I had to go back exchange small creams ones look so similar, but the blue colored part is brighter darker, etc slightly different. They are bigger now too. Longer.
    Makes two of the small. I don't know if smaller like the crema cream is available elsewhere, nut surprised at the bargain here from ages ago now it is way better. Well other stores may charge wayn more I am sure. It is why not buy it anymore even if it was once in a blue moon git twice a yr, mostly summer. A summer craving gummy in a good way. Love to bite on it as snack side dish burgers most rice etc Spanish meals too of you prefer.

    Do not use Queso Fresco, it is not for frying. Queso Fresco is a crumbly cheese with higher moisture content. Make sure to use Queso Blanco for much better results.

    Colon unfriendly - red meat such as pork or beef. WouId think cheese might usher in stents and bypass surgery. Interesting recipe.

    This recipe looks dangerous for a cheese lover like myself. It’s like potato chips, bet you can’t eat just one. I’m over 60 and more worried about blocking those arteries. I like how you show recipes I never heard of.

      I love cheese, but I can't eat it like I used to--or I can eat it like I used to, but it's not a great idea...this fried cheese is tasty, but then I've got a pack of cheese that would usually last me for weeks and it's gone in days, so that's a bad sign
