    As a proud owner of the G80 since 2017, I am thoroughly pleased with my ownership experience. In fact, I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new 2025 GV80. Here in the Middle East, our Genesis warranty spans five years with unlimited kilometers, accompanied by a comprehensive five-year service maintenance plan covering up to 100,000 kilometers.

    I will start by saying I own a 2023 GV80. that being said, I have had none of the issues you have had. At least, not so far. As for your A/C system, you should put it in manual and set it to heat and see if both sides heat evenly (keep the sides synced). Then go to A/C and see if they are the same. If they are, the issue is not the actuator. May be the controller. If they are still different, they you probably have a actuator issue. I have read other owners with the latch cover issue. In every case they had to have the cover replaced since the minor parts cannot be ordered separately. Good luck on your dealer visit.

      I forgot to mention that I also did try in manual mode (as you suggested) and had the same differentiating temperatures. If I understood correctly, in order to fix the rear hinge cover, they would have to replace the whole trim? If so, that's a waste from their part, as opposed to just fixing that middle portion.

    I have a 2023 GV80 6 seater luxury model here in Australia
    Had Mercs / BMW & Audi
    GV80 is way ahead in all areas / to date none of the issues your having & my car has done just on 20k already as a country car doing long drives
    Finish is 2nd to none & the cars tech is simply brilliant
    Only downside I would comment on is lack of a spare tire which is of concern seeing I travel so much.

      I would agree with you on the comparison to the Germans. Hyundai/Genesis is really bringing up their game. I used to own an F90 M5, and was constantly in the shop!

    Small stuff. I'm getting a 2025 GV80. BMW and Audi are garbage. I'm tired of $2,000 - $10,000 repair bills.

      As I mentioned in my video, nothing major. And yes, I'm aware (at least) on the BMW issues. If you look at some of my prior videos, I dealt with a major engine misfire issue on my 2018 BMW F90 M5.

      @JeromeWilliams-oe9ws everybody's got different tastes and preferences. I'd probably keep going back to Lexus and Genesis over BMW, just because of the reliability issues in general. If you look at my videos on my M5 ownership experience, you'd see my perspective. Ultimately, the M5 never got fixed, and I sold it

  • @bramfrank409
    @bramfrank409 Рік тому +3

    The seat adjuster needs a bit if grease.
    The AC likely has a blend door issue. If you have cold air on the right it is not going to be refrigerant.
    The trim out back is likely that the piece was dislocated when loading something in back, possibly breaking the hinge on the right side.
    The dealership experience in the US is inconsistent. In Canada the 4 dealers near me are all great, but the one I purchased my 3.5 Prestige from has been amazing.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  Рік тому

      Thanks for your feedback. Car is at the dealer, and this is what they said:
      1) Seat needed some grease
      2) AC is the evaporator - unfortunately, it's on backorder, so I'm waiting to hear back
      3) The rear hinge cover piece will need replacement of the entire trim piece. They don't come or fix just the middle part - the whole trim piece will get replaced.

    I preordered a GV80 Prestige for their first production year. The transmission glitched, the nav system glitched, the heat stopped blowing in the middle of winter, the engine ran extremely poorly in cold winter months. On top of that…. the customer service was awful for a luxury brand… at least at the dealership in Edmonton Alberta Canada it was. Sold it after a year of ownership

      @@RichWithCars that’s actually what we traded the GV for was a new 2022 RX350. The service has been top-shelf and we haven’t had to use it once for warranty. It’s a much better ride and it’s been extremely reliable…. but it does sacrifice any sort of thrill so to speak. I will need my bike and a sports car for that I guess. For an suv, it has been as expected.👍🏼👍🏼

    I had similar issues with my 2021 G80. Last summer the AC was completely out and they had to replace the compressor. Then days after the driver side was not cooling as well. I took it back and they said the "schrader valve" was causing a small leak. They replaced it and recharged the coolant. It was good for the rest of last summer but earlier this summer the driver side was not as cool again but only slightly. Took it back, again, and said they couldn't find any leaks and the coolant was a little low so they refilled it. I documented all that on emails with them and told them if it happens next summer they would have to find the root cause. I have a CPO with extended warranty so it will still be covered. I love the car but I'm very disappointed with the quality issues. JD Power just released their 2024 3-year reliability survey, which looks at 2021 models. Genesis moved from at or near the top brand the last couple of years to below average (presumably with the major redesign in 2021).

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  5 місяців тому

      Yeah - I'm sorry to hear about your issues. Seems like a common issue across all Genesis models. Their reliability score was initially high due to the low volume of vehicles they had at the beginning. Once more units got sold, it brought their average down. Lexus/Toyota still at the top....

    I wonder the degree to which Hyundai dealers will or will not go the extra mile to keep an owner happy. Little stuff does add up and can be very annoying. It is weird. I had NO problems with my Q5 but did dump it after 57k miles for fear of something serious popping up. I would not want to keep any car for more than 75-80k miles in all probability.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  Рік тому

      Yeah - I doubt they'll go the distance to make a customer happy - especially compared to a brand like Lexus. I'm very curious to see how the new stand-alone Genesis dealerships end up comparing to the current Hyundai/Genesis combos. Surely, they would have their employees go through training to bring up the level of service. Only time will tell....

    Small quirks, but one could argue those small quirks should've been QC'd.
    Also, reddit has plenty of posts regarding poor dealership experiences with Hyundai, Kia and Genesis. No disrespect, seems like you're settling. Doubt your Lexus dealer would turn you down like that.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  Рік тому

      Not settling. This is my first experience with Genesis, and I'm seeing this for the first time. If I already had a bad experience with them in the past and would've repeated my ownership with them, then it would be a different story. Also keep in mind that Genesis is starting to build stand-alone dealers, so there's hope for the future.

    An econo-sh!^t box car company that expects to become a respectable brand in the luxury market should not be giving customers push-back and run-around when they have issues with their cars. The guys in Seoul better catch a flight over to Japan to learn a few things about the luxury dealer experience from Toyota. Clearly they figured out how to make the transition long ago.
