This is by far one of the best videos I've had the joy of watching. The content, the maker, the music and the editing were just spot on. The contentment you feel making this heirloom is immensely felt and the smile on your face is contagious. The fact that anyone can give this a dislike show that there truly hard hearts beyond help in this world. Thank you April for bring a smile to my face today.
I did a two day hand tool course a few weeks ago. My wife described the workshop as a little church. It was such a peaceful experience being there with like-minded people. Wonderful. I get exactly what you are saying, April.
April, I bet you never thought you’d be making a video of this quality with furniture of this quality years ago when you released your first videos like the “How to use a drill” one... this is crazy great!
What a fun thing to do and to make something that is not only functional but a work of art. To know that you have done this must feel wonderful. Working with hand tools can be a very zen thing to do, at least with me. Good job April.
Back in the 1980's, I loved the Colonial Chair Styles, such as yours. Sadly, many manufacturers are gone, due to the price of furniture prices crashing. Adirondack Chairs are awesome! Keeping the craft alive is self rewarding.
Excellent video, thanks April. One of my favourite facts about identifying traditionally made Windsor chairs is by feeling the spindles and legs. If they're round they were made with seasoned timber, if they are oval they were made with green timber in the traditional way.
April, As an almost 70 yr old. I've followed you for yrs, seen your work ethic & you've learned by mistakes. If I was new at wood craftsmanship. And at your time that you wanted to Teach Classes I would be your 1st Student. Keep going April you inspire God Bless....
Beautiful job April I wish I had your talent and patience. Big difference from power tools to hand tools. But the hand tools accomplishment is priceless. Beautiful chair for a beautiful lady. Thanks for sharing
Greg is a great teacher. I took a Windsor Chair class with him April 2012. The chair still looks great, seats great, and to this day I get asked a lot of questions about it. Wanting to take another class with him as the instructor.
April, the production quality of this video was amazing. Felt like I was watching a PBS special or something. Hats off to your videographer and whoever edited this. All your videos are great but this one looked like someone put some extra time and effort on it. Oh yeah, the chair turned out amazing too. 😁
In all the videos i have watched of you building / working on things. I don't ever recall you doing it in bare feet. Always work boots or running shoes. The chair looks great. And you're right. Like chairs that were built hundreds of years ago and still enjoyed by others today. Yours will live on. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Love and God Bless.
This type of video is MUCH more interesting then watching you build a fence or a deck imo. It's extremely interesting and satisfying to watch you build graceful and useful objects of such beauty and practicality! You are obviously doing something right, look at all of the subscribers you have now! Kudos to you and your business acumen.
Amazing, April. It was very relaxing watching this video. The love you put into and joy you got out of this project was very evident on your face. Thanks for sharing.
April, This is an exceptional undertaking on so many levels, it is so soul satisfying to watch you craft this piece and get so much joy and fulfillment in the simple act of working with your hands, mind and spirit. Simply put, breath taking.
I have to say, while I've enjoyed all the videos of yours that I've seen so far, there's just something about this peaceful, cinematic like video. Plus, the fact that you literally went from the tree to thus finished product is incredible. The finished product came out amazing and the fact that it'll last your lifetime is really cool.
Just a piece of magic, watching the chair coming alive through the process of building! Just can't be beat. Years from now someone in your family will be telling a great grand child, " don't play on that chair it's old and was made by Grammy April!" It'll probably be the strongest chair in the room! Thanks for sharing, be safe! Beach, NC
Nice work! I have some questions about drying the wood: How dry was the log when you started? The splitting scene is filmed outdoors. Still, I guess the log was stored indoor or at least in a shelter for quite some time before you started. Do you know for how long it was dried? Did you let the wood dry between splitting and further processing? Did you see any shrinking problems after the chair was complete? I guess the chair will be exposed to a drier climate when you move it from Tennessee to Texas... I will appreciate your comments.
Beautiful chair and it looks like you really enjoyed your time building it. The steam bending surprised me in that you did not use metal strapping to support the outside of the bend but Greg seems to have it done to a science. Great job!
Really nice to watch. I have an antique chair dating back to the late 19th - early 20th century which is similar in many respects to your chair. It was in poor condition when I got it but fairly easily restorable. Sadly I had to put it aside when I was forced to relocate and had to leave it in storage with my ex who got my house in the divorce settlement. She took it out of storage and left it in the garden exposed to the weather for a year. It will now be impossible to bring it back to any where near new without replacing a lot of the parts but its on my list.
Love it! This has been on my bucket list for a long long time. I want to make one that has the board on the top of the latter back. Love those chairs. Great job.
Hello April, Very nice work and chair, one to be proud of for sure. You have come a long way since your channel began, I was there. Thank you for the great content and a nice channel to watch. I wonder if you and Linn at Darbin Orvar might ever do a collaboration project video, just a thought. Forest fires in Washington, Oregon & California. Can't hardly see the sun where I live. Good for now. All the best from Oregon, C.
Without a doubt, this is the most awesome project I have seen, and I have been a subscriber for some time now. Your chair deserves to be an heirloom! Thanks.
Wonderful work and superb video. I was impressed when you first started to bend the back rail, but my jaw literally dropped when you changed direction. Amazing!
So many awesomeness in 1 video. The chair of course but also Greg's finished deck and Justin's video work. All in all breathtaking. Oh and smack him next time when he pranks you again when sitting in your chair and giving you a heart attack 😆

That chair was so beautiful in the raw, I'd have left it that way, to pick up polish and dirt through use... I like the traditional finish too though.

I'm loving the cinematography in this video, adds something more.

I can't believe he allows anyone in his shop without shoes. Both of them should know better.
Awesome work April! ...Thanks for sharing your wonderful chair making experience! ☺️👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻

This looks both so very relaxing and calming, and also intensely intimidating!
Absolutely beautiful. The chair is nice too.
April you are a true artist! I can understand why you feel so relaxed there. I was relaxed watching the video.

It never cease to amaze me how malleable a materiel, wood is. I also just love the texture and smell of it.

Wonderful work and superb video. I was impressed when you first started to bend the back rail, but my jaw literally dropped when you changed direction. Amazing!
love the chair, love the video, love your ch... missed your wave.. ty
That is beautiful, I believe that would be most satisfying, because it is made totally by hand!! Very nice!!
quarter sawn gunstocks are stronger and usually more stable that flat sawn blanks, sometimes better looking depending on the species of wood.
The connection with the raw materials, the knowledge of the tools used, and investment of time to complete this transformation is remarkable!
So relaxing even to just watch....
Beautiful piece of work!!!!!!!!!!
Lovely work!
Beautiful work, April! Fantastic looking chair! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Love you April 💕
Great to see hand tools being used. Maybe a tip for a future video: it's great to 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓 the tools too.

Nice build. I've learned a lot from you / Greg. I have spent lots of time on Old Hickory. Yep. Lived there.
