I think a have enough scrap wood for this project. I love your work shop, you're amazing. Watching you build with your own two hands helped me believe in myself and believe that with work and effort anything is possible.
Thank you very much! Yes, when I started I knew nothing but with research, trial and error, learning from my mistakes, made my skill and confidence level soar. Now, I feel I can tackle anything. But if I can do it, anyone can. Thanks for watching.
I built one of your early porch swings with cushions for my wife. She loves it. Might build this one for my parents. Keep up what your doing, some of your projects give me good inspiration.
Pretty sure the first Wilkerdos video I watched was for a porch swing. Fun to get back to something relatively simple for this one. Thanks for sharing!
What a great swing, I love it! Looks very simple to make. The only thing I would change is the S hooks you hung it with. I would use threaded quick chain links instead. So theres no risks of it slipping of the chains.
Great video! Just watched it and trying to play catch up with all your videos. Question. Curious to know what made you decide the location to hand the swing? I can see that you positioned it at the edge of roof above, which is a good idea as that would not block the walk-way behind you, but then I thought, would it be better if you place it directly under the roof above to preserve the wood on the swing so that it is less exposed to the elements. Thoughts?
The table where you did the assembly intrigues me - is it a welding table? BTW kudos on your porch swing design - I built one over 3 decades ago which was a much simpler design which did not have a curved seat - not very comfortable - this design looks much better!
Very cool video! This was a great tutorial video showing how you built your porch swing. Thanks for sharing your time with us. You are appreciated. Great color choice!🤙🏾💯
Awesome! She told me she met someone who had been watching since 2 States ago and now in TX. That the 1st video they saw was the carport. Thank you for staying along for the ride and your continued watching and support.
First video was you and your dad doing some shelving in the garage. You hadn’t hooked up with Titan tools, or were about to. Lol, and now we’re neighbors!
Do you have any advice on knowing when you have designed something with enough strength? I tend to over engineer I think because I don't really understand when I need crossbeams or more screws or whatever to make it super stable and strong.
You know that here in Texas you've got to plug all of the holes in outside stuff or find mud dauber nests. Are you planning on going to the TWF next weekend?- Chris
This is awesome!! I love this. I was just talking to my hubby about a porch swing! How long did it take to complete this? Too bad you're not nearby. I would pay you to build me one. 😉
Nice video (as always). What bit are you using for the countersinking? That's longer than the ones I have and looks super useful. The countersinks I have just go over a regular drill bit.
The bench I could build, but my house doesn't have a porch unfortunately. Maybe I could persuade all the neighbours to build a wrap around porch around the whole block? 😄
Likely won't snap, but I would like to see the eye moved closer to the wood to lessen the leverage. Mine has been horizontally mounted for 18 years with no problems.
April I had to pause cos you lost me on the curved pieces.....I didn't see how to make/do that curved wood part. Did I miss something? Plus an extra blow (to me) I stopped getting notifications about your posts. I had to look for you tonight and I was 3 videos behind!
I always cringe when I see that you wear rings while using tools. My cousin had his hand drawn into a table saw and it took 3 and a half fingers and part of this thumb. Just saying...

Your narrating is still the best on the UA-cam!
Aw thanks! Glad you enjoy my channel. Thanks for watching.

awesome porch swing April have a great week be safe
Thanks! You too. Thanks for watching.
Very nice build April! I like the Southern White Pine! Very economical and looks great! Keep on building!
Thank you so much!
The swing is awesome April. Thanks for sharing with us, stay safe and keep up the fun around there too. Fred.
Thanks, you too!
This is awesome, April. I love the back of the porch swing and the yellow makes it Pop 🎉 Thanks for the tips! Have an awesome day.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.

The yellow makes this porch swing POP! A great place to “HANG” Out and enjoy a breeze in the evening.
Definitely! Thanks for watching.
Always the best project, April❤😊 10:53
Awesome swing, fun place to read to the kiddos and have snacks.
Yes indeed! Thanks for sharing and for watching.
I really like the back design of this swing April. Looks Awesome!
Thanks! Glad you like it.
I've been wanting one of the tab welded welding tables. Just don't have the room. They seem nice though.
Great design, would love to see more about the geometry like the back height and angle considerations, the depth of the scoop of the seat etc.
The yellow makes this porch swing POP! A great place to “HANG” Out and enjoy a breeze in the evening. 😁
Thanks! I just love the yellow. Thanks for watching.
Very nice and simple build project. Maybe round over the front seat board so it is not grabbing the back of your legs. Just a thought.
I luv watching you work and design
Thank you so much!
Love it. Now all I need is a Porch.
The eye bolts should be vertical and attached to horizontal boards (2X2) under the swing. The swing should be cradled on the 2X2s
they don't look like bolts. those look like eye screws. Don't a good choice.
Have a great day 👍🇩🇿
Cool designs.Thanks April.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching.
I need to try the new glue
April my favorite month
Stunning!!!
Thank you!!
So cute!
Excellent thank you April.
Thanks!
Hi, April! Now, THAT is a great project! It would look awesome on my porch! Thanks for sharing another great video. Have a fantastic week! God bless.
Thank you! You too!
Great build, April! 💚
Thanks! Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
Will the plastic templates hold up to flush cut router bits?
I always put painters tape on my drill to the depth I am looking for.
Nice looking porch swing be sure to close the loops on the S hooks, so you don't drop down on the deck.
Another Great Video 👍 Ms April
Thanks for watching.
Waiting for you to make a hammock stand. Maybe a portable one and maybe one that's permanent.
As someone that recently started DIYing, what tools should I start with to build this?❤

Easy to update to a beautiful bench, just change to a suitable wood for outdoors!,
Nice bench!
There are plugs for pocket holes if you want to go that way.
Great video love it, hello from England 👍🏻
Hello from Texas! Thanks for watching.

Yeah, that's a CertiFlat welding table.
It really is comfortable! Thanks for watching.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Nice job on the porch swing April! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP
Thanks for watching!
@@AprilWilkerson Your very welcome April! Have a awesome week!😎
Wie immer perfekt gemacht ! Liebe Grüße und bleib gesund, Heinie! 🤠
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Another tip for getting your screws counter sunk the same depth is by using a sharpie on your drill bit, the depth.
Met your mom buying the paper at Berkshire Brothers! Congrats on the front page!

Excelente trabajo 👍

I would rather over-plan than under. You never know who might decide to sit in it one day and you wouldn't want it to fall. Thanks for watching.
I'm surprised you didn't make it out of Western Red ceder
Southern yellow pine is more sturdy and hardier
You know that here in Texas you've got to plug all of the holes in outside stuff or find mud dauber nests. Are you planning on going to the TWF next weekend?- Chris
Very nice!
Thanks!
THANKS APRIL,A GREAT PROJECT…MADE MUCH EASIER 😅WITH MODERN TOOLS ⚒️
Yellow pine is much harder, but also tends to warp ☹️🤷♂️
Cute!
What’s the max weight it supports?
Alsom job love it 💜💙
This is awesome!! I love this. I was just talking to my hubby about a porch swing! How long did it take to complete this?
Too bad you're not nearby. I would pay you to build me one. 😉
What length/ width of your boards to make the back?
Nice video (as always). What bit are you using for the countersinking? That's longer than the ones I have and looks super useful. The countersinks I have just go over a regular drill bit.
Looks like a countersink for cabinetry. Those taper the pilot hole as well as countersink. Look up cabinet countersink bit and you should see plenty.
I just had a weird idea. Do they make SYP edge banding? That would hide the screw holes without having to plug them. Should be much faster.
Hallo Frau April und danke für deine Info und tschüss aus Düsseldorf 🥳🥳👍👍🇩🇪🇩🇪🇺🇸🇺🇸🌶️🌶️🤵
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and hello from Texas!
The snap of a finger (Bob's your uncle) appears to be something new in the video. :-)
Hey I miss your mom. Remember you had her up on the roof? Good times ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh believe me, she's still around and kicking! But yes, she is a delight. Thanks for watching.
1.5M wowee
I like to mark my screw holes so they are not all askew. My OCD would not stand not having all screws in line an equally spaced.
How to get plans for this swing
The bench I could build, but my house doesn't have a porch unfortunately. Maybe I could persuade all the neighbours to build a wrap around porch around the whole block? 😄
Video always ends with the WilkerWave 👋
Yep! My signature wave. :) Thanks for watching.
😮👍super
من اليمن 🇲🇨👍👍👍
You didn't break your drill bit this time... 😄
👍
Side loaded eye bolts/screws are not good. They should always be mounted vertically. A horizontal attachment will derate your hardware by 50%.
Likely won't snap, but I would like to see the eye moved closer to the wood to lessen the leverage. Mine has been horizontally mounted for 18 years with no problems.
Symmetrical....🤣 We knew what you meant
❤

Comment just saying
I love April’s videos, since back in the garage, but I think her energy was off in this one. It felt like she wasn’t enjoying making the vid.
