Damn, that minor key version of Tifa's theme at the beginning is so haunting. Especially so when i think about how the composer said her theme was supposed to feel like "home".
Yo not sure if you knee but you can get 3 cutscenes at aeriths house you got tifas ! I think it would be super cool to react to the other scenes as well especially aeriths i think it was done super well and flows into the scene after the best
44:36 I see you are doing Divekick after an Uppercut. You are getting a lot of style points ❤. Quick tip for Barret normal attacks: Have you noticed that after holding "X", at some point he has to reload? If you press "Y" when that happens, you cancel his reload animation, and you get charge for his Triangle ability. That way you can use overcharge("Y") more often. Fantastic episode!
I love doing the dive kick after uppercuts! Took me a while to finally get the flow of it though! Thanks for the tips for Barrett! I wish I knew this sooner lol. I’m sure someone mentioned it and I forgot 🥲
@cloudsi don't worry about missing tips, your videos have a lot of comments, it's easy to miss stuff. Besides, you probably don't need the tips since you are making great progress 😎. I love your playthrough!
1:21:32 That letter "C" grayed out means that Cloud has that First strike materia equipped but in another of his weapons, not the one he is currently using.
32:30 Outside battle, you can use multiple potions back to back if you press Left Bumper instead of A. Oh and when Barrett was dying of constantly being poisoned, you could have simply used an Antidote item. :3
I somehow missed that he was poisoned lmao…sometimes I watch myself back and have no idea how I got through any of these fights with how oblivious I am at times lol
Avalanche is like a big family even through grief they will always be together one way or another and Barret will continue pushing forward as sort of the ''Dad'' of the group. Also I love that Tifa was so vulnerable with Cloud in the garden he struggles to open up but you could feel how much he wanted to do that for her especially considering she said he hugged her too hard XD
Barret's cell of Tifa, Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge, Marlene, Cloud, (sorta Johnny, Madame M and Andrea), Aerith, and Elmyra. They may not all be playable, but they are the party to date.
Hey. Loving the playthrough so far. Since the videos come out with a delay you probably know this already...but PC launch date for Rebirth is January 23rd. Already preordered mine 😁
Barret is by far my favorite character. They did him so much Justice in both parts so far. Eventually when you get more materia slots I love giving him the support spells like barrier and prayer because he can reliably build AP quickly and safely. Also if you do that the “Healing Carcanet” is amazing with Prayer.
If you go ahead and start looking for Don Corneo, you’ll still be good to do side quests before moving on any further afterwards. It’s after that whole objective is where you can decide to do anything else before getting to Shinra HQ. So you don’t have to worry about next episode being sorely side quest then. Lol
Yeah your going to get stuff for the quests .. your approaching the final arch of the game like you said but its been fun and its really just the beginning depending on how you look at it! ❤
Well you found Wedge alive but the other two still didn't make it. Also that was very touching between Cloud & Tifa, course he was so slow to hold her and he shouldn't have been. 1:09:18 That girl is just a damn CON ARTIST who is always spreading lies for a quick buck!😠🙄 I hope you're just using that nail bat weapon to get its ability and then switch back to the buster sword or whatever else.
I noticed a few times now you are struggling when enemies use poison on you, as you didn’t remove it with an antidote or poisona. Same goes for other ailments. BTW you can multi-use potions by holding L1 when selecting them in the menu to make less tedious. L1 also changes materia linked to Magnify from single target to AoE (remember potency is reduced as a downside of this) - applies to non-offensive spells like Cure, Barrier etc. as well.
Thanks for the video! Shame you didn't get Aerith's scene as that is peak writing and drops more mystery on the whole, what is Aerith's role in all this?
Just to point out ONLY ONE thing.. You have never used STEAL function through the entire gameplay. i played Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10. (just to give an idea) All main protagonist have that function very early in the game. Steal function can preserve your Gil because you can use the stolen items instead of purchasing them.
Ooh yes, finally another video I can just sit back and watch…😮💨 getting consumed by political contents on UA-cam and just dealing with the holidays mentally stressful dude
When Don Corneo dropped you into the sewers, you went straight to Tifa so quickly that you might not have noticed the choice between Tifa and Aerith. This choice seems to determine the scene you get at Aerith's house when you're woken up at night.
She didn't "went" straight to Tifa, she even stopped and commented how the game was forcing her to choose, then did a lap around the arena before picking 😂.
@@brieezy. I'm refering to the literal abzu arena. If you watch her video, she literally runs around the arena before going to choose Tifa, and even then, she stops a bit before doing so.
I 1000000% knew I could make a choice. And I did contemplate it before choosing Tifa. It was not an easy choice, but ultimately I’m happy with my decision. Will def watch the other scenes eventually, I’d love to see what The Aerith scene is like someday 🥰
@@cloudsi Maybe it was a different playthrough I saw. I've watched a few recently. I don't watch many playthroughs, but when I do, it's either FF7 or FF16.
You're not that close to the end of the game you're just not gonna be able to go back and do anything in the slums once you use the grappling guns after you talk to Corneo, i'd say depending on how long are you explore from here on out once you get the side quest done you'd have a good four or five episodes left maybe? If you keep going at this rate. Oh, and to complete Corneo's stash remember you read the note so you know you have to go into the sewer so you're gonna have to go on with the main mission in order to get there-people get stuck there all the time so just a reminder👍👍 go go
Hey Cloudsi! Just posting this before I watch the episode so I don't forget it but I also might add a little more afterwards, but seeing the comment section on your last video made me kinda seething with rage (not really but it pissed me off) with just how much stuff people were spoiling or foreshadowing (which is spoiling imo) all over the place. I feel like it could be a good idea to have someone do some clean up in there before you start engaging with it yourself. I've seen the biggest most outrageous spoilers in other people's comment sections and I myself got most of the entire story spoiled that way after Rebirth released since people just really like to spoil everything "because it's a 30 years old story" as if everyone had already played it or should have already done so (also really brought it up on myself for hanging around in FFVII comment sections and watching theory videos trying to get a feeling for the ending which was clearly very stupid haha, but I wouldn't want it to happen to someone else who is at least trying not to get themself spoiled). That and the shipping are really the two reasons I struggle so much with the FFVII community, as great as it can be otherwise. If you're interested in tips for the gameplay, you said many times that you struggled with your MP, but there are few things that can really help you that the game doesn't really tell you, like how useless level 3 spells (other than Curaga) actually are in most circumstances. Their MP cost is almost never worth it damage wise until so much later in the game (and I'm talking like late game Rebirth or Remake hard mode), especially since you're not using Aerith's Arcane Ward which would also save you a massive amount of MP. Also, I really feel like the controller shortcuts were mainly designed with advanced players in mind, when you start to have a certain level of mastery and fundamental understanding of how the combat system works, or for those who are just too impatient or unwilling to spend time in menus to think and strategize about their actions or who find it immersion/pace breaking. All are valid reasons to use them, but from what I've seen, it can often teach players not to think too much about what they're doing in a game that sometimes punishes thoughtless playing/fighting without a minimal strategy. It is there so you can use it if you want, but it most certainly is not mandatory. I beat Remake and Rebirth including some of the toughest combat challenges which are way past souls games level of difficulty without ever using them, but I've also seen some of the best players use them or not so it's really up to you. You can also spam potions or spells out combat by holding the left bumper (L1 on PS5 or LT on the others) so you don't have to open the menu everytime which is nice. Finally, some fun little fact [that some might perhaps consider spoiler as is it from a small piece of early optional OG side content which is not included in Remake nor Rebirth so there is no other real way to know about it], but Rude hits the helicopter stick as Reno is about to shoot Tifa climbing up the stairs of the Sector 7 pillar because, as a Turk who has to monitor threats to security, he's gotten a bit of a crush on our favorite feisty bartender girl, so it is a fun little nod to the OG in that sense which is never explained otherwise and that I thought was worth mentioning because of that. That said, I'll go back to your video and in case I don't have anything to add after watching this one I hope you have a great day!
I politely disagree on level 3 spells. They have better damage-to-MP ratio than level 2 spells, and if they hit an elemental weakness, they also do more damage per ATB than any other command. Endgame bosses don't go down easy so I'd say the damage is warranted. Another advantage is that they're less prone to shooting you in the foot during a stagger than blowing all your ATB on Infinity's End. The latter will often hit the HP threshold for a boss phase transition, wasting damage and leaving Cloud with no ATB for the next phase. On top of that its damage is only good during a stagger so if you were short on ATB and do it too late, its damage drops off a cliff. Finally, -ga spells have the same interrupt power as Limit Breaks, making them the only way to interrupt, launch, or knock down some of the game's toughest enemies. Between mako shards, items, and benches, there isn't much of a reason to ration MP on Normal. Most people end the game with a boatloat of unused items which won't do them any good in Hard mode.
@ArmandoDoval Yes I do agree with basically all of what you just said, you're also pointing out the specific cases where they aren't useless or a waste of ATB, so thank you for that, but given Cloudsi's use of them, I don't know if we're at that level yet. If she used them on staggered strong enemies, they certainly wouldn't be wasted, but casting them against basic trash mob is rarely ever worth it, which is very often what she does. They should be kept for specific scenarios like you pointed out, but not every time. Very often they won't even one shot the opponent even if they're weak to it so using a lower level spell to get them pressured is often enough to open an opportunity to either kill them with a braver or stagger them with a focused ability and then use a braver or infinity's end to finish them off. I do recognize they can be useful, but I think there are things she can do to help her manage her MP, something she has pointed out as an issue for her, and cutting on the 3rd level spells seems like a good starting point, though I recognize I might have been a little too simplistic in my recommendation, just felt like it was the appropriate level to start with. She could deal a lot more damage and avoid spending a lot of MP by simply casting lower level spells into the Arcane Ward for a starter. And when she does that, then she can start casting level 3 spells on staggered enemies or to interrupt them, but she was struggling to see the phase shifts of the big ghost boss in the haunted graveyard and kept casting level 3 spells with Cloud when it was immune to them constantly running out of MP and wasting a lot of ATB, so my recommendation was more addressed with that in mind and her struggles specifically than towards the entire playerbase, but I might have oversimplified it too, so thank you for pointing that out!
@@ArmandoDoval This combat system is incredibly deep and well thought out, but I also find often poorly explained and I have seen so many let's players and streamers struggling with basic concepts I myself completely failed to understand that I often feel compelled to simplify it to a very basic level. I myself was absolutely horrendous at Remake and basically played the entire thing just as Cloud and using the menu to command my teammates rather than actually controlling them and I can see a lot of similar struggles others are facing when playing the game. I really would have liked to have someone help me with the basics, but I also didn't wanted to go look on the internet at the risk of spoiling myself the game, so that's why I'm leaving that comment. I found Rebirth did a much better job at explaining everything gameplay wise, but since we're not there yet and that the basics still seem to be a bit shakey, I felt like that was the appropriate level to start with, but I might have been wrong in my facts or in the way I presented the information, so thanks for addressing that.
