My game of the year was probably sonic x shadow generations or yars rising but to be fair I haven’t played metaphor Astro bot or black myth wukong but the all look really good and I would love to play the silent hill remake
This year we got: SH2, Indiana Jones, Metaphor, Astrobot, FF7 Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Yakuza 8, Stellar Blade, Wukong, Space Marines, Elden ring DLC, prince or Persia the lost crown, Tekken 8, Sparking Zero, Persona 3 reload, dragons dogma 2, dragon quest 3 remake, Stalker 2 etc… This year was fantastic
Busy playing Prince of Persia now, very fun game so far. Thoroughly enjoyed Echoes of Wisdom. I understand the gripes people have but i loved it The Plucky Squire really stood out for me this year. Great game
Saying Metaphor’s story and characters are the thing holding it back is genuinely a crazy take. It won best narrative for a reason, and its characters are where it excels. You just need to get to the point in the game where you really can’t put it down because of how insane and gripping the story becomes. Plus the character’s development and interactions as the game goes on is just top tier. Easily my goty, you gotta finish it cuz it’s so peak trust.🙏
i think saying you have to agree with something because it won an award is kind of a slippery slope. that means every oscar winning movie was the defacto best movie of the year and you cant say otherwise. i think metaphor IS a great game, but its characters and story are really not gripping me in. i can see and feel its greatness, its a wonderful game that just makes me nostalgic for Persona 5. like it makes me wish all the QOL changes Metphor made were in p5. ill finish it eventually and maybe it will all click but right now i feel like im forcing myself to play it.
Yeah that take actually shocked me lol. Metaphor's story is like actually good, not just by JRPG standards. Louis in particular is such a compelling villain, easily one of my all time favourites now.
i love the story and the characters but i definitely get why someone wouldnt, the first few hours of the game are very generic, just a medieval fantasy story, but it gets way better true
Who cares if it won best narrative lol. If he’s not vibin with the characters, that opinion doesn’t automatically have to change because it wins an award. 25 hours is plenty of time to make that decision and form an opinion.
stellar blade is def an S. gaming industry a little crazy after the wake of elden ring. 9/10 games like stellar blade are getting reviewed down to 7/10
nin sols def seems to be well liked. marvel rivals is a middle S tier for me personally. it brings a lot of the vibes of early fortnite days. and on my PC at least, runs so smooth its ubelievable. halo MCC and fortnite have all types of stutters on my 4070 ti. not marvel rivals.
Prince of Persia should’ve gotten so much more love. I love metroidvanias and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than Metroid Dread which surprised me so much! I was not expecting it to be this fun, just pure entertaining stuff. It broke my heart when they dissolved the team behind it because I was hoping for more dlcs and a sequel. Truly sad this one didn’t get the love it deserves.
i still like dread a lot more, but there were lots of elements of Lost Crown that really surprised me like the parry mechanics is so much better implemented
from the perspective of a 30 year old woman, princess peach deserves so much more. it wasn't a very complex or challenging game but it was super charming and just a joy to play start to finish. i would put it in A.
Princess peach showtime is by far one of the best games released this year. Definitely A tier game. It was my game of the year till echoes of wisdom released.
why does being a woman matter? i'm a woman too and could see that the game was obviously made for children, which is fine, but not an A tier worthy game for THAT.
Banisher's ghost of New Eden is a good game worth trying. It's a bit of a slow paced, but combat is smooth, and the story/Detective elements are actually kind of fun. The choices you make also kind of matter towards the end goal of the game.
while your transitioning this into your main channel. Do you find it hard to call your old main channel your side channel? You have put so much time ,love , and dedication into it. Merry Christmas.
Metaphor and Indian jones are the only S tier games of the year for me. Astro bot, stellar blade, wukong and silent hill are all A tier But overall been a pretty good year wouldn’t say I’ve played anything awful.
Wukong wasn’t really game of the year. Critics and gamers seem to agree on an 8/10. I’m yet to meet someone who isn’t a single guy following a certain genre of content creator to argue that it was a truly great game.
I like how you are the big gamer but haven't even played most of the games you own, but your wife as fewer games but really plays them and she isn't a real gamer.
Everyone has said they don’t like Brothership, but I’m enjoying it so far 🤷🏻♂️ Granted, I’m still pretty early on, but most of the criticism I’ve heard has been surrounding performance and pacing in the beginning. I’m enjoying it so far, so I think I just disagree with everyone except Arlo.
I just beat Metaphor refantazio and it’s my game of the year. Funny enough I’m now playing ff7 rebirth and I’m in love. It’s a good thing the year is ending and I’m not beating ff7 this month or I’d have trouble deciding my game of the year.
Astro Bot is as good as any 3d Mario game. Literally no other developer other than Nintendo has made a 3d platformer of that caliber until Asobi. Imagine a souls-like coming out and everyone says “oh yeah this is as good dark souls or sekiro” None of these other games are as impressive in their genre as Astro Bot
After having played FF7 rebirth, Astrobot and Metaphor now, my personal game of the year would be Metaphor. Astrobot is amazing, but RPGs will always be a bigger draw for me. FF7 rebirth had so many great elements, but was held back by being basically just a middle chapter in a bigger game. I also disliked the Ubisoft collectathon element. But overall, all three games are worth playing. I'm excited to try Wukong and Balatro, as I've heard nothing but good things.
I want to get Astro Bot SO bad. I don't have a PS to play it on. Wish it was on switch, but it likely wouldn't perform as good then. Great games this year, looking forward to the next!
I hope you give Stalker 2 a chance next year after a few more patches. It is a very special game and the devs deserve all the love and support in the world🇺🇦
Princess Peach Party was my daughter's favourite game of 2024 - she was the exact audience they were targeting. Princess Peach turned into a mermaid, and it was cemented as best game ever after that lol Although that said, so many of us girlies have been waiting for peach to have a stand alone game and I wish what they put out would of had the same kind of playable content like mario odyssey. My daughter's biggest complaint about princess peach party was there was no daisy and rosalina. We need a proper game with all 3 of the popular girls of the mario series. It hasn't been done before but it's so wanted.
Brothership ain’t for everyone because of its pacing issues but I’m shocked yet not suprised you didn’t like it. I don’t agree it’s bad but I can see why not everyone likes it because it takes wayyy too long to get into mechanics
Sorry to anyone who didn't get a chance to play Concord. It was a good game definitely deserving better than F tier and better than the hate it received.

Black Myth Wukong is not something new to us... but... it's a dedication that inspired the novel from China to other countries. Monkey King has influenced us so much because of his character. Also, the Chinese developers gave us a great presentation that their game is not just about animation, but a real true work of art. I always wanted to play as Monkey King for the longest time because of how funny and a trickster he is when he's facing his foes in combat. I just don't understand why people say Wukong is hard and it's difficult to play... Bruh, it's not how you play the game, it's how you're skillful you are to play the game and get good like Demon Souls, Dark Souls and other souls games. I get it, Astro Bot is a good game, but tbh? Wukong is better.
@ totally respect your opinion and thanks for replying. for me Wukong just was not as much as a “video game” as astrobot. it didn’t “do” a lot, while Astrobot had A TO. of variety between each stage, super creative gameplay between the different bots, and those challenge levels gave me more trouble then most of Wukong did tbh. but i 100% respect your love for Wukong, and I think the devs did fantastic - just the story for me was dull and there really wasn’t enough between each boss fight to keep my interest peaked the whole time. still a great game nonetheless. astrobot > for me personally, but much respect for you bro 😎
I've only just bought Wukong, mostyl because of the Monkey TV series we had here in Australia as a kid. It may not be my type of game, but yeah I don't think it does anything different. If it won game of the year i'd have accepted that, but it would have tarnished my opinion that game of the year is just for the same types of games every year. So Astrobot winning GotY gives the awards more credibility IMO.
@@JustinWatson23 yeah I also feel that Astrobot is just more of an actual "game" yk? Black Myth is an incredibly fun style of a souls blended beat em up/hack n slash, but nothing more. almost no story that really grips you and you just kinda waltz between the bosses. @@WHIKKEDDDD Wukongs combat gets repetitive very quickly and most boss fights are very basic, have very little buildup and are easy. There are only 5 bosses or so who are really difficult. The presentation is awesome tho.

I just feel like I see platformers come out every year and every single one is just the exact same game with a new coat of paint. Even the snippet Wood played here, its looks identical gameplay wise to every platformer ever at this point. What am I missing? Is the only distinguishing factor for platformers really just the visuals? I feel like I'm going crazy.
What was YOUR game of the YEAR?
Sonic x Shadow Generations
Astro Bot
Echoes of Plum Grove
It's gotta be Astro Bot (the GOTY 2024)

FF7 Rebirth and Astro Bot are tied for first place with me. FF7 is just stunning on all fronts, but Astro Bot just makes me so happy as well.

Even the snippet Wood played here, its looks identical gameplay wise to every platformer ever at this point. What am I missing? Is the only distinguishing factor for platformers really just the visuals? I feel like I'm going crazy.
@@amiccus_ play the game to find out then just blindly assuming its the same as every other platformer
Where is NCAA 25? I didn’t notice it in the haven’t played tier
