- How to make a waste oil burner in 2 minutes or will this be a epic fail. We use engine oil or motor oil that is used so we can show how to make a waste oil heater thats portable. Just a 1 thing needed like a oil lamp but thats it nothing else is necessary unless you build a large one you need a drip feed diesel fuel and exhaust for the smoke but indoors i don't recommend and dont try any of this shown in the video except at your own risk and you assume responsibility.
This will be very hot at high temperatures.

If you keep your wick to a minimum it won't smoke . If it's to long it can't get enough oxygen for the amount of surface area and it will incomplete burn . Also replace the glass with stainless steel mesh and you can have a bigger flame . Thank me later ! 👍🏻

I use used motor oil to protect exposed metals, just paint on wherever it's needed. Also on exposed wood but sparingly.

I put a little on my tools, it stops surface rust. A thin coating keeps termites out of wood.
That does not do anything.... it needs a corrosion inhibitor that is what Oil spray is... the oil is only the carrier so using motor oil is putting dirt on will not protect anything.
also work good on peenis/vajina type stuff
engine oil is a super crappy corrosion inhibitor. you need the red stuff. see the video titled "How corrosion inhibitors protect metal: synthesis in the lab and testing" by youtube channel "applied science"
If just want a hand warmer/stove,, maybe baby heater I made a vegetable cans gasifier, holes only at top of inside can. Went with baked beans can inside for height and gallon can outside. Strip the strands of fiberglass cloth to little threads and "birdnest" inside 2/3 way up. Add oil to bottom with a little on the nest for a thin amount. Newspaper usually lights it. As the top burns it steams the lower oil to burn. The top only holes are because the water in the oil will foam bringing small amounts of oil with it to burn at the top. A fixed turbine with air intake holes just below it may be a good idea shortly up the chimney for an afterburner effect should one use it for a heater.
I'd pour that oil thru a couple coffee filters first to eliminate some of the contaminates.
Use in a well-ventilated area, and DO NOT BREATHE FUMES!

That's true, I bought an oil lamp years ago and the room always had a strange smell so I stopped using it inside
As soon as the lamp oil burns off the motor oil will not wick up. It will go out.

I’d be worried about carcinogens in the used motor oil being released when burning it. Definitely want to make sure the fumes are vented to the outdoors.
Yes i dont feel comfortable with anything like that propane or more with out a door open and good ventilation

A heater? Leave all windows and doors open? Doesn’t make sense. Mabey a hand warmer wearing a smoke mask?
The principal of a oil heater is given but build at the scale you desire.
That wick has zero chance. This does not work long term. You could thin the oil with 10% diesel and run it through a fine gas filter though. The wick will last much longer.
just mix 50/50 with kero or deisel
I think the heavy motor oil sank to the bottom and you just burned the kerosene till it was gone

I've tried some expired olive oil mixed w/ lamp oil in my 2 lamps like yours, but it seems to have stopped working. I'm going to get a gallon of kerosene & add to whats left of my expired olive oil. Have you experimented w/ used cooking oil/s? I've been wondering about this use for used cooking oil/s for a while. What do you think? Thanks for sharing. Take care from Tn, - Leeroy
I mix cooking oil with lighter fluid to make it burn a little longer when starting fires, and I noticed that fresh, non-used cooking oil does not light very well. The used oil lights up much easier.
