    Thank you. This is a life savior video girl ! My friend recommended me this video when my monstera got a really bad root rot which I kinda chopped off everything. I tried using h20 mix water to clean and leaving in water method which make it worst. I then give this method a go which is also my last resort. When I checked again the leaves were badly limped and 2 leaves dropped from 4. It was probably because the root didn't managed to drink enough water to sustain all leaves. I literally thought it was gonna die at that point and was so sad. After that I decided to leave it be near my south facing window where there's no scorching hot sunlight. About almost 1 month later I go back check and HELL YEAH the roots are sprouting like crazy !!! I'm so shook and happy rn ! 😄
    P.S. this will probably sound crazy to you but I also did some talking and 'therapy' for all my plants from time to time. Where I play plant music for 1-2 hours and open my humidifier to give them some mist. They're bushier than ever and I'm planning to get more plants. Wuhooo 🌱

      I'm so happy this worked for you! It is so satisfying seeing new roots emerge. I have had others tell me that they play music for their plants as well so it doesn't sound crazy at all.

    I love this video :) I do have a couple of questions:
    1.) Is your perlite damp when you put it in the jar?
    2.) I have an albo cutting with about 4" of stem/chonk but it runs sideways off the leaf, like if you hold the leaf vertically, the cut part of the stem goes side to side...hard to explain but I hope you understand...when I put the aerial roots in perlite, should I leave the stem above the surface so it doesn't rot?
    3.) If you do bury the stem, do you suggest sealing the cut ends with wax to prevent rot?
    I have been searching the internet for days to find these answers but no luck, which is why I'm hoping you can help!! :)

Do you add water to the bottom of the pot but plant in try perlite slightly above the area with water or do you moist perlite when you put the cutting in and also add a little bit of water at the bottom? I had rot on stem and original roots, the rot was black and soft. When I would water the perlite I would add just enough water but not too much so it doesn't sit on the bottom of jar. But you can do the method you mentioned as well, adding water - submerging all the perlite and draining it, yes.

    • @rootedinplants
      @rootedinplants  3 роки тому +1

      My mason jar did not have any holes on the bottom and I also closed off the top with clear tap. The holes on the bottom won't promote humidity unless you have it in a greenhouse or a enclosure. I personally watered mine every 10 ish day and I never let any water sit on the bottom of the mason jar, just enough water. In your case, you would do the same thing except water it perhaps every 6 days or so, since the perlite will dry out faster with drainage holes and an open top. Mind you, you don't really need a lot of roots in order to transition it into an airy soil mixture.

    • @rootedinplants
      @rootedinplants  4 роки тому +1

      Well I would encourage you to use a mason jar or some kind of clear vase that way you can see 1. the root progress and 2. the condensation within the container. I would also close off the top of the container as I did with masking tape, saran wrap or such to help keep humidity in. As far as how often to water depends where you live and how hot and dry it is there. The rule of thumb I went by is if I seen the condensation decreasing I would water it, so it was about every 10 days but that was from March to May which it was still winter here. So considering its summer now you might have to do every 7 days, but just keep an eye on it. Higher humidity when rooting is helpful as well. Also I want to add, do not let their be sitting water on the bottom of the mason jar/vase. You want to water just enough without drenching it.

    • @rootedinplants
      @rootedinplants  3 роки тому +1

      I actually had a reverse osmosis filter under my sink as well but it wasn't filtered through salt, it recently broke though and I started watering with tap water (which is high in chlorine here) and my plants hate it. You can always pour water in spare containers, milk cartons or something alike and let the water stand in there for a day or two and then water your plants with that water. Letting the water sit out like this allows the nasty things within the water evaporate to some extent.

    How does perlite actually work? Do you water it? How much? is it just perlite or do you put anything else with it (worm castings)? Should the pot have holes in the bottom? Do you water it with just water or do you add any solution to it?

    • @rootedinplants
      @rootedinplants  3 роки тому +1

      100 percent water. You add water every 10 days or so, depends how quickly your will dry out. Every time I watered I diluted some super thrive into my water and used that. No holes on the bottom, a mason jar or see through vase is great, you want condensation to form on the glass but you do not want sitting water on the bottom. Close the top off with saran wrap or tape, to help keep the humidity in.
