When you have a cutting with a pretty long aerial root, from experience I recommend cutting it off but leaving maybe a quarter inche of the aerial root, try putting it on sphagnum moss and cover the sides a little, spray it with water and check it every week! Works everytime for me, but thanks for the really helpful video.

the set up is great, but a big mistake is constant picking up of the node and playing around with it. it stresses the plant and slows down the recovery/propagation process.

I agree! Just once a week for me, to check for rot on a questionable aerial root.

Girl my stem broke off and left me with a half inch node after cutting rot off, your node here looks HUGE compared to mine 😩😂😅
Hoping for the best, i spent way too much money on that thang 😪
I applied some keiki paste, put it in 32oz mason jar filled with perlite, wrapped with saran wrap & under a grow light 24/7. fingers crossed it doesn’t completely crap out on me 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I see your struggle with the node here, and I feel that. I usually get rid off the aerial node, and cover it all with fungicide powder (such as RootUp or Rootone, or other brands familiar in your area). Good luck with it and pray the best for your effort 🤗

I have two variegated borsigiana and two variegated deliciousas(one grown from a 1.5" dia node) haven't had any problem growing them all. Your Trenta looks like it didn't have holes in it, that's probably what caused the rot since you should never soak those plants for a long time.
For my node I used a glass dome, ceramic pot, orchid pot, sphagnum moss 98% of the orchid pot, and by the node I have some soil, tree bark/wood chips. Grow light also.

I just bought a node and was debating whether to do perlite or sphagnum moss. I watched that girls video and the roots were very small and stringy. Do you think that matters at all? Did your roots turn out like that?

When you have a bare node complete with an ariel root, you do NOT want to try and start it in perlite. You need only moss and moisture. Take the ariel root and dry layer it as well. Moss+moisture+plastic wrap=woo hoo! Then, lay the node on top of the rest of your moss, provide it a grow light and a lid. These take FOREVER but once they start, you will be able to pot up instantly!

Hi!! The rot did not continue, but I still don't have any real progress. I know they can just be stubborn sometimes. I am going to try some cloning paste and I also have a second albo node on the way, so hopefully I will be able to have a happy update video soon! :)

Cardens Gardens plant madness Their on Instagram Facebook and UA-cam I paid 130 ffor my node I get it but fair but I still think it’s expensive !And I most definitely try to ignore the the container that it’s in I did check to make sure it has it’s not dried up but besides that I ignore it

I had the same problem as yours, except my node had one leaf and the seller gave it to me in a water cup ( local purchase) the root rotted, so I had to cut the root super close to the node but luckily it stayed rot free after that. since the cut ive put it in sphagnum moss and an container to allow for moisture like yours.. a month later still no rot but still no action (remember I already have one pretty leaf) so then I dip my node in rooting hormone and leave it back into the sphagnum moss.. 2 more weeks still nothing..I am considering cutting that leaf off and continuing my propagation with just a wet stick..to see if it will activate it

    • @pinkpaisley4520

If there was no growth node / only a root node then you will never get new growth, the leaf will continue to live but it will never grow more leaves.

I don't know where my reply went but what I was trying to tell you was I watched a guy do an experiment with three different materials for rooting his Albo wet sticks. He used spagnum, perlite and lecca. The leca did not work at all but the spagnum and perlite did get him some nice roots. He just laid his sticks on top of the three different materials in a clear plastic container with a clear lid and put it under plant lights.

I just found rot on my albo cutting's only aerial root :,( Cut off the rotten bit, rinsed and popped it in my perlite prop box, hopefully since its a more aerated substrate that can save it, its my first monstera albo cutting and I was really hoping to make it work

Hi there. I watched a video last night. I wish I could tell you who's it was but he experimented with propagating this very plant with wet sticks and he did it three ways. One in spagnum, one in perlite and one Leica lol. Forgive the spelling. He just laid the sticks on top of each and every one of those and the ones in the lecca did not take at all. But the spagman and perlite did root. He had them in a square container, clear with a clear lid and put it under a plant light. Also. Just trying to save you from losing any of your precious cuttings.
