Thank you for not giving up on that beautiful truck. I love how you always buy high end model trucks. This truck being the XLT Lariat was top of the line in 1989. Can't wait for you to fix it up.

Kevin, it takes a real man to do that my son and oldest daughter dyed mine purple! You guys are awesome even my 12 y/o son loves watching you guys with me!
I just got a 1982 F150 XL today 1 owner 76K original miles been sitting for 8 years. So cool to see you going through the same things with the same truck lol!!
I just did this on an 88 F-150 a few months ago. Both lift pumps, new selector valve (Ford should be shot between the eyes for that little gem) and a high pressure pump and now I get the flammable liquids to the fuel rail. Its magic I tell ya!
I think that its so awesome that you work on vehicles! There's just not that many girls that want to work on vehicles in today's society. Kevin is definitely so lucky to have you in his life. God bless you and keep up the wonderful work! Thanks for the videos.🙂
It's only been 4.5, maybe 5 days since this came out, and you're more than 20% of the way to 1M views. I'd say Kevin will be sporting a new do by month's end. Go Mook!!
I have a '88 f-150, I've had since 1989. Rebuilt the engine over 20 years ago (302). I can't begin to tell you how much stuff I've hauled in this truck over the years. Congrats, on you new daily driver.
Wow. That thing is beautiful. My first vehicle was a 89 f150 supercab just like that with a straight 6. Miss it every day. I will never forget doing peels out of the high school parking lot!
Awesome video! I just also revived an 89 f150 with the 302 abandoned in the woods behind my job! Fuel pressure regulator, TPS sensor, cap, rotor and some fresh gas and she fired right up.
Those late 80's early 90's ford trucks will run forever for not much money. I've owned two over the years, an 89 with a 5.0 and a 95 with a 4.9. The 4.9 inline 6 is God tier indestructible.
I was 4 when this truck came out, I would be proud to own it today. We had a 1982 extended cab growing up and I was able to drive that "unit" all over during my 16-17 year old days.
I've done that exact same thing before and I yelled at my screen just before he said they forgot to hook up the wires and hoses. But I had 2 full tanks of gas to do that work. Very heavy for one skinny guy to handle.
Hey, the backlight on those headunits is just a $2 bulb that takes 5 minutes to get to. I just did two of them a couple months ago. Also, definitely pull the bed off to do tank work. its waaaaayyy easier than dropping them.
@@garageofscrap youd think that, but at least on my truck, the rear tank was on top of the hitch brace and the skid plate, and all the fuel lines and wires are routed over the top of the frame channels. Ive done it both ways, bed is way easier.

@@Laugh1ngboy Maybe but these Ford radios commonly burn the bulbs out. It is worth pulling apart and fixing. The aftermarket radios always look horrible in my opinion.
I see two Texas stickers in the windshield, an older inspection sticker and a 2013 license renewal. Also a Waxahachie, TX Ford dealer emblem on the back...... Maybe that's why it doesn't have the usual Iowa rust? Nice. If you can keep it out of the salt it'll stay that way!
One easy thing to maintain that makes a difference on power and fuel mileage is the distributer cap and rotor. Also it's a good idea sometimes to change the coil wire because sometimes that will cause issues with the module in the distributer. The radio just needs the light bulb behind the faceplate changed.
