Just a small addition, for people recording on an iPhone all the stereo recording is out the window. It’s all mixed to mono BUT the input from the two transmitters will be more important since you can’t change it in your edit.
@@Gesuenderfitterleben several possible reasons. You could have the cable plugged into the headphone jack rather than the output. The cable could be bad or the mic setting in your camera might be wrong. I’m not familiar with your camera so I don’t have any suggestions for the settings.

Oh my Zeus- I do the same thing! I'm sitting on several DJI and Sony items (mics, drones, lenses, etc) that I've had for months/years without using them.
I am an older user--in many years old--and doing interviews and 'other things' in my community and for my community. I made the purchase of the DJI mic and you have been extremely helpful in getting me going. If I could give 2 thumbs up, I would do it.
These things are nuts. As someone who's been doing production for 20+ years, I cannot believe how these work, and all the little details they got right. And they're SO SMALL. Great video. These are coming on sunday and I feel like I know exactly how to use them already thanks to your video.
Seeing as they plug into the input jack on the camera are they already beaten to the audio of the video clip you’re recording? Or do you have to sync it up to the video once you pull in the audio clips from the transmitter? I was hoping it would be baked in as well
I love mine and think the same as the OP. Just nuts how great these are compared to the old clunky metal ones. I can't see ever going back. They sync and bam, also onboard recording are you serious? amazing. It rolls with your video when you plug it into the mic hole. The nav recording is for back up yes you will have to sync that way. @@ryansulak
Cannot thank you enough for this great deep dive. I was so close to boxing mine back up and returning them (actually had them boxed up with the return label). Decided to search one last time for an in-depth tutorial. Found yours and discovered a LOT more about the system than I knew, including some things I was doing wrong. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. It definitely got me off the "ship back ledge" and now looking forward to using them. Thanks dude!
You did an absolutely superb job on this tutorial. Not even DJI could have done a better job. I just got this microphone set and I am watching your tutorial three times to fully grasp all this system can do. I am even more impressed with this kit because of your instructional video. Outstanding job and thank you again.
Thank you so much!!! This was amazing, I've had my DJI mic for almost a year and have only touched it twice. This video taught me sooooo much!!! I'm happy to call myself one of your new fans!
I was initially reluctant to watch a 30+ minute video. Glad I did. Now I can't wait to get these... just four more days. Thanks for the awesome information.
fantastic video Jeven! very informative. i recently bought the DJI mic. this is the first informational UA-cam video i've watched about how to use them. thank you!
I just got this system yesterday as I am now adding interviews to my photography workflow. I watched all the way through and learned a lot. Thank you so much. I also do a lot of drone work and now I can easily just bring this with me to record that auto to later add to my otherwise silent drone videos. You're the best and many thanks!
Maybe it has been mentioned/asked already, @16:25 you talk about both mics being mixed and having no way of remixing. If you have the backup recording on, then you will have the opportunity to use separate audio tracks for each mic, or am I thinking wrong?
Amazing wireless mic system. It's super easy to use. The only confusion people might have is using the Mono and Stereo modes with one or two mics. Mono one mic - records dual mono track (1 person talking) No post audio editing needed) Mono two mics - mixes both mono tracks into a single stereo track (two people talking at the same time) No post audio editing needed. Stereo one mic - records only the left channel (you have to duplicate this track in post to have stereo sound) Stereo two mics - send the L and R channel individually to the receiver and you have a single stereo track (not practical for recording two people as you will have one person on the L and the second on the R . You have to mix the channels in post to have Stereo) The easiest way to see how this works is plug your headphones into the receiver and get your mics out, change from mono to stereo, play with the options and you will see how it changes the sound and channels live. I am using this with a Sony A7III and the audio input level on my camera is set at 3.
I so appreciate you posting this clarification. My head spins trying to get this concept straight. I understand Mono vs Stereo. What I don't understand is which I want to record for talking-head types of personal (non-commercial) videos. Your explanation gives me the how. Now all I need is the why and your parentheses notes almost get me there. I'm printing your comment and will read it twice a day until my 💡turns on. Thank you.

Thank You! I received my DJI MIC yesterday and found your channel this morning. I had no idea the amount of features this system includes, buying the mics was more to separate from the camera while recording is my main intention but you have alerted me many other possibilities!
Just picked this system up. Great video. iPhone users beware: the lightning connector is mono only, so if you want to edit each track separately you have to use the track recorded on the transmitters.
Hi mate quick question for you, did you get the right angle audio cable like he has? I just got mine today and it’s a normal straight jack (not a big deal but would’ve preferred the angled one)
@@ScottyInVancouver If you are using both transmitters, iOS will only record a mixed mono track in the video so when you go to edit you can't split the audio for editing. As a professional photographer, now getting into video, I found your video on DJi Mic and its functions invaluable, including all the pro tips you share with your followers. Thank you.
Hey Jeven, just got mine yesterday. One heads up is that the production units being shipped have a simple drawstring pouch, not that nice zippered pouch/organizer. Really excited to test this thing out! Update: made a video about this and these mics on my channel as well. Excellent piece of kit!
I just got my mics, and when im monitoring the audio its echoed. What's your experience monitoring your audio? When I monitor the audio with my zoom h6 its a great experience. What you're hearing is exactly what you're getting. But when I monitor the audio from my dji mics it has a slight echo. And its not a solid representation of what I am actually recording. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be super helpful. Thank you
@@idontfilm I actually haven't tried monitoring yet on the DJI Mic since it's usually just me filming myself. I'll give it a shot when I can and see if I get an echo as well.
@@AustinGreeneExplores I just got done filming some content at work. I had my the mics at -3db. Everything did come out great. But when I live monitored them it just doesn't sound like the final product baked into the video. Like I said its echoed. I guess moving forward ill just pre record some test samples, review it, and go from there.
This was a very through and informative video, thanks for making it! I have the DJI Mic myself and while I thought I knew the basics pretty well, I did get some new information and ideas about this video. And I'll have to say that, for instance, the tip for using the DJI Action 2 magnetic mounts to attach the DJI Mic transmitter to a stand is quite an inventive and clever idea. Once more, thanks for this and keep up the good work!
I do a lot of work with the local community school of the arts and a couple of theater companies. I purchased the DJI Mic to help with recording audition videos for actors, pre and post show interviews, and back-up audio for public speakers that I am shooting during their presentation. This is vey convenient and a lot more versatile compared to using a shotgun microphone.
Great info! Thanks for making this. So Far i’m using these mics for both short films and also for improv where 2 actors can walk freely around the stage and have their audio captured cleanly. The problems i’m working on troubleshooting still are the transmitter gain for loudness, muffless, and echo in a loud space. Otherwise I love These mics so far! Thanks for making the video!
I love how no one is mentioning the horrible Hiss sound that's coming from the transmitter with a lot of Lavalier Mics (like the Rode Lavalier GO) that makes the sound unusable. Maybe that's the reason it got delayed a million times, probably DJI is aware of that and tries to fix it before release. Some yt channels mention it briefly and still praise this to heaven - sorry but most of the people don't want to attach a huge transmitter to the shirt of your interview partner, that doesn't look professional. If this is fixed it's an awesome device, but until then this not usable for a lot of content creators.
Yes, you need certain lavaliers that don't bring any "interference" noise, not hiss. Bought the Saramonic lavaliers with it, one being white and the other being black depending on the clothing, with my fingers crossed!
@@Bo_Hazem ...yes it's interference noise, but it happens with a lot of Lavalier Mics paired only with the dji mic. These mics work fine with the Rode WGII. If you already own a 100$ mic and suddenly get interference noise only with the dji mic that's definitely a bummer
I bought these the other day because of your excellent coverage and received them today. They are super nice. I am coming from the Hollyland Lark set. They are fine. I wanted a non-lapel set which i guess they are very similar. Owning both, I like this set much better the phone attachment is huge. I will be using them in a one one one and three person scenario. I thought about using two and a Saramonic mixer on camera. But then I thought why not place them on mini tripod like at 33:18 and just have them in between subject and do a mic test prior to and check the levels to make sure each subject is receiving okay.
I have a GoPro 11 and use the DJI external mike all the time. I used to have the Rode wireless mike and used their hand microphone with the large sponge like cover. NOW, when I need a hand mike, I use the Rode hand mike with the wind protector and slide an external mike right on the mount. It works perfectly.

Jeven, this is a very helpful video. I like the chapter markers for specific info after watching the whole video once. I have one issue with my DJI that I haven't resolved. When I am not talking for a bit and then start talking the volume of my voice is way to loud then it settles down in a few seconds. It makes it hard to edit and now I start talking just to let the mic level out before I say what will be in the video. It is as if the gain automatically goes higher trying to pick up on sounds that are not there. Thoughts? Thanks, Ron😎🤙
Great to hear. I have a LUMIX G5 And will be mounting the transmitter on it while teaching a class wearing the transmitter. I’ll be about 6 to 8 feet from my camera. Any suggestions regarding ideal audio settings for the transmitter & receiver?
I'm waiting on my to ship. I am super excited. I made a bunch of motorcycle content and my audio kept getting destroyed with my GoPro and there crap adapter that I've replaced 3 times. Now I am going to run a full DJI setup and can start creating.

I thought the much was kind of cheesy.
I wonder if this means they’ll actually release it soon :)
Every time a new video comes out, this is my first thought.
The DJI Store showed availability in January, then March and now the website shows April. Sheesh!
Mines on order
Should receive it in two weeks 🤞🏼
@@gr33kb0i you just be in china then cuz that’s the only place
@@ChristopherOdd no North America. Hope the shipment date won’t change…..😬
As long as I get it by next month I’ll be happy.
Thanks!
We need a guide on release date first. This mic has been out in the wild for months. I’m ready for V2 when we don’t even have v1.
It's out now. Just got mine yesterday! Ordered last week.
@@AustinGreeneExplores What the heck man! I preordered back in December and still haven't received mine yet!
@@thenerdshow I hear you. I ordered from AVC Photo Store in Miami based on a Reddit tip and it got to Hawaii in 3 days. Give it a shot!
this guy doesn't know what happening lol
This is the best plain English tutorial for this DJI equipment. Great job!
Great info! Thanks for making this. So
Far i’m using these mics for both short films and also for improv where 2 actors can walk freely around the stage and have their audio captured cleanly. The problems i’m working on troubleshooting still are the transmitter gain for loudness, muffless, and echo in a loud space. Otherwise I love
These mics so far! Thanks for making the video!
One of the best instructional videos I've seen on UA-cam! Great job!
Haven’t had that happen on my WGII set
Yes, you need certain lavaliers that don't bring any "interference" noise, not hiss. Bought the Saramonic lavaliers with it, one being white and the other being black depending on the clothing, with my fingers crossed!
@@Bo_Hazem I use the Purple Panda mics and they sounds just fine as well
@@EricKolibas that problem doesn't occur on the WGII as far as I know
@@Bo_Hazem ...yes it's interference noise, but it happens with a lot of Lavalier Mics paired only with the dji mic. These mics work fine with the Rode WGII. If you already own a 100$ mic and suddenly get interference noise only with the dji mic that's definitely a bummer
I just bought one and this video was extremely useful. Thank you.
I literally go through this video frame by frame. Thanks for the tutorial.
Brilliant! I’m sold. You’re also a really good teacher, bro!
thank you so much for this in-depth guide! I just got mine and this has helped so much :))
Glad it helped!
This is the best tech overview video of any product ever. Excellent work,
The first video since I started my content creator journey who explained everything and got my full attention THANK YOU 💪🏾💪🏾
Best Beginners Guide for the DJI mic so far- big compliment for this tutorial!
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen. Ever. Thank you!
I've watched a few DJ Mic videos to get an idea if this is something for me. This was by far the best one. Thanks!
Have to admit iv just bought the mic from reviews but seeing how you used it and the advice I like it more
DJI really thought of everything when it came to this mic. Its very impressive
I just bought these without any knowledge and this video helped me so much, thanks!
Coustomer service at dji are not helpful, they took almost 3 months to ship my package. Other than that it suck the recivier will not connect to my iPhone with my heavy duty case.
Thank you so much. Just bought this yesterday, 11.25.24.
This has been helpful already and I've only watched 10 minutes. Saving this video to really study it
So helpful brother, thank you! I'm shooting a wedding soon and this in depth tutorial will help immensely.
It's a great tutorial on DJi Mic. One thing i want to ask you is whether i can use it in a class room lecture i.e. video recording of my my lecture and atr the same time connect it to a speaker like Bose S1 Pro portable speaker or the like ?
Probably if you split the cable going out to the camera and portable speaker
Because of ur vidéo I ordered DJI MINI3 pro. And DJI MIC .
Good job bro.
I just bought this and had no idea where to start, thank you SO much!
You asked how I am going to use the mics. For me, mostly leaning out of train windows with a GoPro 11 and an Inkee Falcon plus. The wind noise suppression with the dead cat is 100%. Thanks for an instructive and useful video.
Jeven, thanks for the video! I have had my DJI mic system for about 2 years and haven't really used it. I'm going to start making some videos for my family and friends and I'm going to make sure that I utilize this equipment. Thanks again!
This is super useful. I have an issue my battery level for both receiver gets lower and lower eventhough I've charged it using the casing.
Man, this channel is pure gold.
Exact infos we are looking for. Straight to the point, thank you!!
I viewed both your video on DJI Mic and Rode wireless Go 2. Just want to say thank you for such detail content.
I have never use a system like this before, your video just clear a lot of fogs in my mind.
Thank you.
I got so much great info from this video. You have a really calm but enthusiastic delivery that is easily tolerated for 37 minutes. Thank You. BTW, I intend to use these with the new Osmo Pocket 3 and a custom designed small rig cage.
I primarily shoot weddings and have been using a Sennheiser and Sony wireless lav systems since the beginning. They're large and bulky but i've had great success with both and i've been reluctant to change. Just got this DJI mic from a buddy who upgraded, Havent used them yet, but I'm very excited. This video was a great introduction. Thank you! Will definitely subscribe and check out your other content.
Thanks, and very useful. I’ll be using my kit tomorrow in an interview shoot with more confidence now.
that case build quality and feel is super premium, i cannot believe for the price how nice and neat everything is. amazing product
Very helpful. I ordered my first external mic yesterday and went with this mic. I can't wait to get started using it for my videos. Thanks for the tutorial. I'll be saving this video for reviewing later.
At 37.21 is the directions for how you get the recordings off the transmitter. Thank you for making this video. So clear, and this really helped me. I liked and SUBSCRIBED! Can't wait to use this.
I blame you for causing me to buy this Mic Man! And I through at you my joy for how this is an amazing Mic.
I just got it delivered yesterday. Thank you, you're the best!
Your video really helped me get to know my mic kit! Thanks
I just bought this mic and I'm only 2 mins into the video but your are already hitting all the info (so far and what's to come) that I'm looking for such as workflow :-)
Great one-stop video, I don’t even need to look any further. Thank you!
I'm waiting on my to ship. I am super excited. I made a bunch of motorcycle content and my audio kept getting destroyed with my GoPro and there crap adapter that I've replaced 3 times. Now I am going to run a full DJI setup and can start creating.
Make sure you check out my follow up video to this: ua-cam.com/video/C7Cg2V6kpGw/v-deo.html
I just finished to watch this video, but Im already on my way to DJI market in Moscow, I have to use rode wireless go systems before, but this lil guy from dji its my game changer in simplicity of using my gear. I hate to looking for phone or laptop on stage when i need to change gain level second thing if you need to connect it directly to mac or iphone its much more comfort to do with dji!!!! thanks a lot for deep diving inside all main features of product
This video is a gold mine.
Just got the the Mic for our channel, thanks for the run-though.
6:20 thanks for telling me that there is a back up. Just discovered my lost file. I plugged it in and there it was. I almost returned the mic because I thought I lost it. Apparently, it was an issue with my 16 pro max. I am learning a lot from this tutorial. This whole DJI set is at least 2 years old. I wonder if I should anyway return this and get the new one.
Whew! Thank you for this in depth video. There's no instructions that came with this. It gives you a QR code where you have to go to a website and verify credit card info and I'm not about to do that. Your video helped explain everything. Thank you sir!!!
Just ordered mine. After this excellent video, I’m sure I be ready to go PDQ. Thanks Jeven
Spot on explanation of all the functions & features very well done all the best jeremy
Thanks for taking the time to share this in-depth tutorial! I'm preparing to film my first wedding this weekend, and your insights and tips were super helpful to quickly prepare.
I ride a Harley Davidson touring motorcycle and will document my trips with the insta360 x3 and the DJI microphone and adapter kit. This will be to make my own documentary and for security and insurance documentation. thank you for your excellent video
I've used this microphone before and they are really awesome! Expensive but you get what you pay for.
Just bought my DJI mics, expecting them later today. Thanks for this awesome tutorial - I’m hooked.
5 min in and i have already learned so much thanking you in advance for the whole video
This is an invaluable video that I return to again and again. Thanks for such a clear tutorial!
Thank you so much for this video. You answer my question on 23:05. I always wondering how can I rec both xt the same time and the answer is swap left or right.
I was just noticing that your camera set up looks really good!
