You might get complaints for explaining things like we are 5 years old, but for the LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT STOP! This is how every video should be explaining gear and how to use them! Some of us have ADHD as adults, and we need this level of explanation to follow through. Please don't stop creating guides like this Jeven. It makes thing easily understandable for those of us with disabilities.
This is the best tutorial out there. You can always skip past things you already know, or you can just learn them again as a refresher. Great job, Jeven.
Man, I’m a 63 yo physician and tech geek before there was even such a thing as a personal computer. My comment to you is, DON’t STOP! You’ve got the Right Stuff and will continue to grow exponentially Thank you for what you do! You’re a great teacher
Incredible! You could NOT have been any more helpful to a beginner. Thank you! Also the ingenuity behind this mic is unlike anything. Everything just works. They packed all this stuff and the touch controls in such a tiny little device. I only hope the audio quality justifies the $350.
Thanks for this great video, I used it to help decide on getting the DJI Mic 2, which I ordered and it arrived yesterday. My first wireless mic setup and came from a Zoom H1N. Now, I'm watching it again to refresh myself on its usage. A couple of things I noticed, which you may have covered in the video but are worth mentioning again. 1. The Safety Track only works when using the receiver, i.e. it is not recorded to the internal of the transmitter. 2. When using Bluetooth on the transmitter you can also NOT use Intelligent Noise Cancelling nor Internal Recording. 3. And lastly, when you start recording on a receiver connected Camera, internal transmitter recording does not start automatically, you have to manually start if you want both, in case of a signal drop from the transmitter. 4. I saw somewhere else that said 32-bit float was not recorded to the internal transmitter, but it does, in fact, record 32-bit float. 5. When using the transmitter in Bluetooth mode connected to an iPhone, you won't get DJI audio in when using the default Camera/Video app, you need a 3rd party where you can manually change the audio input, there is also a hack to use a screen recording to change the audio input to DJI and then record video with the default app. Please correct me if I am mistaken on any of the above. Again, thanks for a great video.
Just bought the DJI Mic 2 to pair with my DJI Action 4 and the obvious first place to come for a tutorial is Jeven Dovey.... calm, precise and complete beginner tutorial... thanks again,,, you are awesome... long time subscriber
Just wanted to say that these videos are the best my friend. I know they seem simple at times, but for people that have just pulled these things out of the box and the instructions are so small and they bought them second hand open box and there were no directions. These tutorials are a lifesaver. I wish you all the best and the most success with your UA-cam channel. I know how hard and tedious it is to make videos as I've been out for 2 years and I watch people put no thought time or process into their videos and they get millions of views and you can spend hours and hours if not days and sometimes weeks just to make a video. I actually just did a video on never before seen pictures of Metallica from 1983 and I haven't even had a thousand views after a week! I just think it's insane sometimes and get to the point where I feel like throwing in the towel. Hopefully I'll get some views one day like you. I guess I just got to keep at it
Jeven, I always enjoy referring to your channel when I need a thorough review of a product. Super consistent and comprehensive every time. I have the same setup that you use here: DJI Mic 2 + A7Siii. And despite the fact that DJI has recommended those settings AND the fact that several other pro UA-camrs recommend the same settings, I can't even come close to getting them to work. With my transmitters at +0 gain, my receiver at +9, and my Sony at +1, the audio volume when I pull the footage into FCP is way, way too quiet even if I max the volume on it to +12. So I play with the camera levels, ensuring the -6 / -12 target and it's still crazy quiet in FCP. Combing that with the fact that Matt Johnson says the 32-bit float doesn't even work for the camera input (only the receiver's internal memory) and I honestly feel like throwing these things in the trash. I've been sitting here for hours, recording a hundred different ways (including pulling audio from the transmitter) and none of it, regardless of settings, is even remotely usable. 😩
I just had the dji mic 2 (single) delivered today, I didn't know how much you could do with it. I'm glad I came across your video, I wouldn't have a clue about the all the options that are available with this little mic. Thanks very much.
Sweet! i held off buying the Creator combo pack for the Pocket 3 and now purchased it on its own so i could get these two mics separately (instead of 1 with the combo pack). Not getting the Combo pack means i won't have the battery handle but that is a moot point as i plan to charge from a power bank when needed. The handle business is not something i wanna fuss with. Thanks for the insightful video and detailed explanations. I'm still only halfway through watching and i'm sold!
I was able to buy the battery handle separately and it really came in handy. One note, do. Ot store with the battery plugged in as it will keep trying to charge tHE p3 and discharge completely
I watched the entire video mostly out of curiosity because I don’t own a dji mic. However I learned a lot of things and I appreciate the function’s offered by dji. Now I understand why it costs so much compared to other microphones.
Dude, I've been looking for this kind of video since I bought the Mic2 and finally found this instead of the hype videos that all the other dudes do. Thank you! So perfect for what I needed!
DJI really knocked it out of the park again with this mic. So many nice and useful features added its definitely worth upgrading. Thanks for the nicely done presentation.
WOW! I usually don’t write comments since i‘m a silent viewer but this guide is out of this world. This is definitely the best and most detailed one I‘ve seen so far. Watched the full video and this is all I need. Can’t wait for mine to arrive tomorrow 🎉
Incredibly helpful. I have no idea how you culled all of the from the printed manual, but this is everything I needed. I’m new to video and audio for video so it’s all pretty intimidating but you’ve helped tremendously. Thank you!
Long winded because you legit covered EVERYTHING! I just watched it at 1.5x and skipped around, it was perfect for catching up to speed and being dji mic 2 ready!
Hi Jeven, great video as always! i'm an happy owner of a DJI Osmo action 4 and i'm very interested to buy a dji mic 2, just one trasmitter to bind it to the OA4 via Bluetooth, how can i adjust the levels/gain on this configuration? thank you in advance, cheers from Roma Italy

A superb tutorial, packed with everything we need and nothing we don't. At last a video titled 'Complete Beginner's Guide' is actually exactly that. So refreshing. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this.
This is the first video I came across that went into detail for every feature in a super clear and concise way. It definitely helped me because this is my first time working with any type of camera and audio recording work. Any information is helpful, even something as simple as how to upload the data to a computer or delete data directly on the receiver (no one else I saw wver mentioned these). I just want to make better videos, and all of the info can get really confusing or lost, but you organized it well. Thanks for all of the tips.
Thanks for sharing. I just switch from my old Senheiser G3 as i’m not doing much tv shoot anymore and i would say that the dji mic2 are litterally game changer. So easy to use and when you’re a one man shooter doing camera and sound seriously it’s so fun to work with simple tools like this. One thing i’ll have to try i a jack 1/8 to an xlr so i can use it with an fs7.
Thanks for sharing this guide buddy. Great for me because my Mic 2 is still in the box and i needed a video "manual". Awsome. Great content. Keep it up 👍
This is so amazing and useful. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more attention in my life 💀 I also appreciate the amount of work you put into this video 👌👌💪💪
Perfect video from a great UA-camr. Congratulations! I bought the DJI MIC2 Combo, was a bit lost...not anymore. Thank you for such a detailed explanation.
Thank you, I really like the way you explain, specially how to connect with bluetooth, very detail. I searched and found many video, but could not find. Only your video who explain about blue and green light when pairing with bluetooth.
This was outstanding! I recently upgraded to the DJI Mic 2 and was struggling with setup and just general understanding of how things worked. I can't thank you enough for putting this tutorial together. Your video was very clear and well done. Thank you! Take Care!
Just got OP3 and DJI Mic 2 kits. Your videos have been super helpful. One obscure thing I just found - You cannot format the DJI Mic 2 from the Mic 2 RX receiver if internal auto-record is set to on. The storage menu just refuses to let you touch select TX1 or TX2 to get to the reformat swipe control. It took a while to figure this out because if you also have the record button on the DJI Mic 2 TX locked out, you have to dig through the menus and disable the auto-record and local record button lockout to enable the reformat touch controls on the Mic 2 RX. (Yes, you could use a computer or the OM3 to reformat, but I wanted to know why it wasn't working on the Mic 2 RX.)
Oh my god, I've been trying to figure out how to access each transmitter menu independently and i thought I'd tried everything. Swiping up on the left side or right side! Thank you!
Hi Jeven, I'm hoping you see this comment and can answer my question. I am _loving_ this video by the way. How do you find the DJI Lavalier mic teamed with the DJI Mic 2? I just bought it all - straight into the transitter the audio sounds good. When I plug in the DJI lav mic, the audio is terrible. Have you found a difference between the 2? I initially didn't want to watch this vid because of the length. Instead I wasted almost an hour watching other vids only to decide I better watch this one. As usual Jeven, this vid was really informative and helpful. Thank you.
@@JevenDovey Good night Sir please can you help me here I would love to learn how to mute the mics individually when I’m using both at the same time please help it’s urgent
Jeven - Fantastically well produced!!!! Thank you!!! I just bought a DJI MIC 2 and was dismayed at the cryptic box-included instructions. Your video removed 100% of the confusion and gave me some great recommendations. I’m going to be using my mics with my GoPro camera for now - and am definitely more confident going into it than when first unboxing my DJI MIC 2. -- Oh - and also subscribed!
Freaking best tutorial for everything you could ever possibly want to know about the DJI Mic 2! Thank you for explaining it all to us "newbies" Well done mate! (I have subscribed) 👍
Epically good video, thank you for making it. Theres no way to get this great of information explained so well from anywhere, especially DJI. Thank you!
I subbed after 4 mins of listening. I love how you explained everything in this video. Definitely gonna get a pen and pad and check out your old videos. Thank you!
Just got a set of these, hope it helps our sound as our sound hasn't been all that good. On the test runs they sound and work great (with go pro hero 12). Thanks for the guide with these and the drones!
Great tutorial, thank you very much for this! By far the most comprehensive and best explained video. I just purchased the DJI Mic 2 complete set and this was super useful. One thing I was hoping you'd cover is what setting to use if you're using DJI Mic 2 with receiver going straight into an iPhone. Have had any experience doing that that you could share?
Just purchased them for a short film and they were AMAZING!!! Quick question, if you have more than two actors in a scene can you add more of these mics to the transmitter?
This looks good to me but 2 things I'll wish for. Black windscreens, locking LAV connector, charging case that offloads files when connected to a computer. Thanks for the video and going into detail.
Hi there-- excellent tutorial--many thanks! It's hugely helpful. I'm a freelance journalist and news/documentary producer. My client has hired me to pre-interview a potential subject for a doc and I thought instead of jotting down notes / recording audio only, that I would record audio using my new DJI 2 mic + filming using my iPhone 14-pro (mounted on tripod). I'm still getting my head around the settings-- A couple of questions: -- If the DJI mic 2 is my primary audio recorder, which, in your estimation, is more reliable: using the bluetooth connection or the lighting adapter to plug directly into the iPhone charger port? -- I will be mic'ing up the subject and myself to record both my questions and the answers. Does the receiver record in stereo on two channels? (earlier version of DJI mic did not, apparently) I will be activating the recording on both transmitters (do you recommend doing this via settings or the external buttons?) I understand the recordings on the transmitters are considered backups, so is the main/primary recording on the receiver? --So would I find 3 unique recordings when I retrieve the files-- 2x transmitters, and 1 receiver? -- How do I change the name of the files so they don't appear as NO NAME when I connect to my computer? -- I"m using a Anker mag battery pack (x2) during the interview (which I expect to last 1-1.5 hours). It will allow me to do a longer interview and keep the iPhone powered while using the charger port for the DJI mic receiver... unless I use bluetooth connection? I've seen folks use a hub to plug the DJI mic into that so the iPhone can get a hard-wired charge at the same time--any thoughts? Thank you so much!!
Also-- I did a test interview this afternoon and played back the video on my iPhone and the audio volume was WAY too soft. Almost as though it didn't work and all I was getting was the audio off the iPhone's internal mic I had my subject's transmitter gain at (-6) and mine at (-7) and my receiver's gain at (0)--should the receiver be hiked up? Thank you!
Oh man, this sucks!!! Why didn't DJI create a proper manual so we could figure these simple things out, I was pulling my hair out trying to figure what I'd done wrong, my receiver wasn't paired with my transmitter and I didn't know what was going on...... Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!! I've subscribed and I'm watching this entire video (something I don't normally do for videos of this length)! Big kudos to you.
Thanks for this excellent guide to the DJI Mic 2. I just ordered it and I'll be using it for audio only, attached to my Android phone. Will it work with a standard voice recorder app? Or can you recommend a specific one?

Clear, crisp, explicit video!
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video really helped me out dude just subscribed
This looks good to me but 2 things I'll wish for. Black windscreens, locking LAV connector, charging case that offloads files when connected to a computer. Thanks for the video and going into detail.
So you basically wish for Rode Wireless PRO 😊
Great explanation. I rented these for a wedding and your video made setup smooth.
Brilliant video mate. Inspiring.
Super informative, covered everything I needed to learn about the mic and more. Ace work! Thank you 🫶👌
Hi there-- excellent tutorial--many thanks!
I'm still getting my head around the settings--
A couple of questions:
-- If the DJI mic 2 is my primary audio recorder, which, in your estimation, is more reliable: using the bluetooth connection or the lighting adapter to plug directly into the iPhone charger port?
-- I will be mic'ing up the subject and myself to record both my questions and the answers. Does the receiver record in stereo on two channels? (earlier version of DJI mic did not, apparently)
I will be activating the recording on both transmitters (do you recommend doing this via settings or the external buttons?)
I understand the recordings on the transmitters are considered backups, so is the main/primary recording on the receiver?
Thank you!
Very informative. I agree, the magnet on the mic does not hold the mic well to a t-shirt. Thanks for the info Jeven.
THIS GUY is incredible, genius, dude thank you sooooooo much!
Thank you, very helpful.
Man such amazing tutorial omg such deep respect. You really helped me a lot
Great video that certainly helped me get up and running quickly.
