I hope you enjoy this newer format of video chronicle...I promise to still do start to finish videos but doing the vlog allows me to connect with you more often...let me know your thoughts...🙂
Girl, I realized I was not able to comment last night, since I was watching via TV/Firestick. So, I had to wait til this morning to send you a message. I love hanging in your studio with you. I too feel the pain of trying to get glaze on goodies in time to make a load in the kiln. Have you ever had to maintenance your kiln? I am not getting to my cone 6 and think I have an element that needs replacing, or tuned up. LOL I cannot allow myself to buy the Power Turq, I JUST joined the Honey Flux world, and I have charged myself with perfecting use of it before I grab onto another glaze to master. HA So happy to see you making more Vids girl, we miss you when you are silent.
Hi KD!! I often watch UA-cam videos on my TV with my morning coffee and I can't comment on them, so no worries! You are always so sweet and encouraging...I have replaced my elements and it's probably time that I do it again..ugh...a necessary evil. I feel like I've been spinning my wheels doing a lot of necessary stuff and not the fun stuff, so i keep putting it off. My last firing tho (it's coming, editing now) was almost a ^7!!! with mixed results...hummm? I think i have a problem with buying glazes, lol...I want them all and I want to experiment with 'em all too. Now Mayco and AMACO went and made more so it's a good thing that they are difficult to get right now... I have no restraint!! lol
@@SarahWaltonPottery maybe you could make us a video about replacing elements. I feel I’m going to have to watch a lot of videos in order to attempt it for myself very intimidating. I’m always happy to have you and your creations up on the screen whether I’m here in the house or out in the studio. Keep up the good work. We love seeing what you’re doing.
Hi Nat...thanks for this, and it sounds wonderful. I've had issues with sapphire float, MAJOR pinholes...now mind you I have never layered it with other glazes, hummm?? do you have any suggestions with firing? I had great results only once and the kiln was a total underfire. I decided to put it back in the kiln to see if id get more movement if it got up to ^6 but then it was totally ruined! Gigantic pinholes...so frustrating... I should have left it alone...any suggestions would be wonderful!!
@@SarahWaltonPottery ohhh me n pinholes ugh! But with me it’s celadons. My kiln is normally cone 5.5. The best way I’ve overcome pinholes is to rub every piece before putting it in the kiln.
Can you show us how to do a soak with a manual kiln? I have a manual kiln and tried to restart my kiln but it shuts off again so not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thx. Love your work. By the way, somebody is high jacking our conversation, lol!
Hi Nadia! I absolutely can. I was going to do it on this last firing but I didn't get back to it in time...ahhh! For whatever reason I had an over fire. I kept checking on it and the sitter hadn't dropped...anyhoo...I've been glazing and will try and capture how I fire and do a hold on my next load.
I love your channel and ALL THE COLORS! I am a new potter and I have been brushing on glaze, but would really like to start dipping more to save time. I would love to figure out how to dip as much as possible (although I will have to build those larger amounts of glaze slowly), but still get the beautiful layering effect that you get. Also, if you wer to only pick a couple of glazes to buy in a gallon size, what colors would you pick? Right now I am using opulence glaze, but I haven't achieved that melting into each other effect much even with their melty glazes. Thank you for sharing all of your knowlege with us here!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you!!! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my channel and work!! 🥰🥰🥰 As for dipping glazes, yes hands down they are the fastest way to glaze your work! I suggest that you choose the ones that you love the most and find using often. For me, I love Amaco’s Flux Blossom and Cirrus Flow. I don’t think you can get them in dry mix yet, but trust me when they become available I will be buying as I use them so often! I also LOVE ALL the Spectrum Floating glazes and the Soft series. You can’t go wrong with any of those. I recently picked up a 10Kg bucket of PSH Transparent glaze as I used it often! I hope that helps!
@@SarahWaltonPotterythank you!!! That really helps a lot! I love the spectrum glazes that you use and had thought about pearl white but got a little nervous about it running after reading some reviews. I may try some more in the small sizes to start with for experimenting! ❤❤
It’s coming! I’m a little behind! I had family come and visit over the weekend and my car broke down and needed a tow….ugh anyhoo it coming.. I’m working on editing!
Humm never really thought about that, interesting idea, they would work in the more fluid ones for sure…but the thick ones not so much. I think that the ones that would benefit from adding the balls would be the ones that are to thick…I hope that makes sense!
Ohhhh no!! Hummmm I wonder why? 🧐 I’m glad I was able to show you in the video, because words just can’t always express what we’re trying to say. Maybe reach out to your supplier. It might be older inventory…or you can thin it with water..hope this helps?! 😀
These step by step explanation videos are my favorite. You’re the best!
I really appreciate that! Thank you! 😊 I’m glad you find them helpful!

Sounds lovely!! I’m going to try it out for sure!! Thanks!!
A cliffhanger. 😂 I can’t wait for the kiln unopening. I love your work!
Cliffhanger!! ha-ha Love that!! It's coming...still editing...ugh!
I really enjoy your videos. I like how you share your combination with us.
Thank you Andrea! I really appreciate that!! 🥰

That’s a great idea! I will totally film that and share! It’s not as difficult as you may think. It’s just time consuming..😵💫
2 sapphire float then 2 power turquoise over is glorious!!

I hate those stuck lids! I've now made it a habit to tap the lid after I shake it and then wipe the rim and threads before I close it back up.
Thanks for the suggestion!! I try and wipe the lids but sometimes Im not as careful as I should be 🤪 🥰

I used press and seal on glaze bottle, then lid. It doesn’t get stuck
Thank you for this!!
Hi Sarah, how did these come out. Would love to see the result 🙏

Do you think the little metal mixing balls that come in protein shake tumblers would be good to keep in Some glaze bottles for shake mixing?
Humm never really thought about that, interesting idea, they would work in the more fluid ones for sure…but the thick ones not so much. I think that the ones that would benefit from adding the balls would be the ones that are to thick…I hope that makes sense!
Power turquoise under Mayco night moth 😊
Great idea!! I will have to try that one!! 🥰
Do you also glaze with Botz?
Never tried Botz.. it’s not available in Canada 🥹
Mine was much thicker than that.
