hi george thanks to your video on the recall for the cable from the battery i contacted bmw in ireland and was informed that my 08 520d was also for the recall but they did not contact me about the recall so my advice to anyone is to contact bmw in case they don't contact all owners and my local dealer checked it and it was fine and to be fair to them they did point out that one of the track rod ends was going and also a rear guide link i am amazed that your dealer did not tell you about the droplinks they should have pointed it out to you i think as it is a safety issue i really enjoy your videos regards james
They don’t contact owners mate because they have no clue who owns the car, especially when it’s 12 years old with multiple owners but once they know you’re the owner they will hassle you to get it done. Excellent videos im really enjoying ur content. I'm getting a squeeking sort of sound s Going over bumps noticeable at low speeds also in car parks turning and stuff. Sound comes from front passenger side. What part could it be. Any ideas on diagnosing. Many thanks.
I sprayed it with lithium grease on all the joints and rubber boots and it went away. I had to regrease after 3 years just last week. I can live with that
I had to jack up the suspension assembly to get the part to fit. It is the correct oem part. Is that normal? My droplink on my passenger side was bent and hanging down. I will change the other side this weekend. Cheers
George Austers cool thanks for the reply, I might do this job myself as a preventative maintenance measure. Thanks for the video, great content as usual 👍🏼
Great video, I have one question. I know there are left and right end link, but how to know what side goes up and what side down? Or does not matter what side goes up/down?
Great informative videos mate but how about some WD40 on rusty old suspension components before disassembly and a bit of oil on the new threads wouldn't go amiss 🤷♂️ keep up the good work 🙏
Another good video! Thank you 😊 I've ordered front and rear for the E61, front was sold as left and right, different parts... 🤔 rear were both the same part. Do you get an alignment with every suspension part you replace? I'm onto my 4th alignment in 6 months on recommendation from my alignment people... Cheers!
Million dollar question. I have e90 from 2008. How do you know if sway link bars are bad? I just took off the tire today and I grabbed the sway bar link and the ball joints move freely. Not too loose but I can move ball joint easily with my hand (it rotates easy from left to right, but not totally easy, there is grease inside). Should it give more resistance or it is normal to rotate like that with my hand?
Hi George, great video! Could worn end links be the reason my car clanks over small bumps in the road, and then stops clanking when the brakes are applied? I took off the passenger front wheel where the noise is coming from and the caliper and pads seem very secure. I didn't think to check the links at the time. Also, what are the torque specs for the top and bottom bolts of the links? Thanks!
@@mokoensn mine ended up being the brake pad anti rattle clip. The old one still fit in there just fine, but I replaced it and the new one was way more secure. Was actually a pain in the ass to get the new one in since it was so much stronger. The old one I was able to take on and off pretty easily
