Justin Buice
Love your vids man. Simple, honest, humble reviews and DIYs. Just bought my first BMW bout 6months ago. '09 E93 335i w/10k orig miles..a beauty.
Haven't had any issues(fingers crossed) but wouldn't expect any with the mileage anyways. Your vids are informative and concise. Keep it up bro.
Hay man cuul videos. I watch your vid's, cause I don't have a car but I always wanna be up on them. And your editing is good, and the audio is also good. cinematography is good also. ok All the best Shaun of NYC
Justin Buice don’t put aftermarket parts on your bmw
Justin Buice how many miles is on you're bmw? And what type of repairs have you done so far?
Do you have any videos on a 428i coupe 2015 vintage? Just bought a 31,000 mi used.... I should get many years out of it...but do they have any flaws I need to watch?
For everybody saying that BMW sucks or whatever because of different little issues that can go wrong just remember every car has certain common issues and nothing worth having comes easily 😊 I'm on my 3rd and 4th BMW, love every one. They do have occasional issues as do all other cars, regular maintenance and preventative maintenance is key. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.
lol.
True
Yes, common issues, no shit. The thing is BMWs cost way more to fix.
Rightly said 👍
Also if you get one with any car with a standard it will last a lot longer cuz it's simpler than an automatic and manual cars are really cheap since no one wants them except ppl like me
Every bmw owners should know their car has blinkers
Antilaakeri hahaha
So true hahah
Antilaakeri everyone should know that BMW drivers will not touch turn signals.
I don’t get the joke?
not funny
Advice, anyone doing mods on a bmw NEVER GO CHEAP!
I'm from Michigan as well and just got my first BMW, thanks for making these videos!
Samantha Gardner awd or rwd?
Samantha Gardner I’m from Michigan also I’m getting a X3
It probably already broke down by now
Just got my first BMW which is a 2008 E90 328xi 6spd manual with 80k miles and with all service history done at the dealer. It was also only owned by 1 previous person, which was a woman in her 50's, and I got it for $8k USD. Hope it lasts awhile without too many headaches. It's such a solid and fun car to drive!
Thanks for your list of tips! Having an independent mechanic and doing some of the work myself has been a great help financially.
I would like to add plan ahead, and be patient to the list. Car problems can be frustrating.
You forgot the number one BMW thing, Never Eat or Drink in BMW! It's the ultimate driving machine not a fast food joint.
WINSTON SMITH I’ll eat my 20 piece nugget and Big Mac anywhere ? in your car if i want to bud
C lol stfu I’m obviously joking
I eat in mine but I maintain it regularly too. I never drop stuff in there though.
Exactly! I can't believe it when I see someone trash a nice car... Why get a nice car then?
Thanks Justin.
Just bought a 535xi and I’m lowkey blessed to have found your channel bro. Instead subscriber!
just got an 2014 x1 lets see how this goes, thanks for providing a channel like this!
Ruben Blam I recently purchased a 2014 x1 and I absolutely love it!
Any issues ?
Thanks! Just got my first BMW, a 740, super satisfied and these tips are all good to know. 🚗🚗
😍😍 740!!!! Yes!
Thanks Justin, just bought my first BMW series 1 118i, no going back to my previous cars.
If you switch from standard brake pads to ceramic ones, as recommended, you'd better change all four at the same time to maintain braking balance betwen front and back wheels.
I've had several BMWs over the years and we have two now, a 2000 528i and a 2008 328 wagon (my wife's). Both were bought new. I've done all the maintenance since the warranties expired. Not that much has gone wrong. I change the oil and filter once a year in Spring, usually 8 to 10k miles. Neither car burns any oil. I would change it more often if I lived in a harsh winter area. Failures on the 528 have been: exhaust side camshaft position sensor, $100, less than 1hour: thermostat failed, so I did serpentine belts and tensioners as well, $280, 6 hours; valve cover gasket leaked, so changed plugs as well, $120, 2.5 hours; driver's side door gasket, $?, 1 hour. The back up distance sensor system failed and I left it that way.
The 328 had no problems till age 9. Then the starter failed and the valve cover gasket started leaking, both were a lot of work to fix but not expensive (new OEM Bosch starter $148 last year, 5 hours). The valve cover gasket was a pain to change, probably took me 7 hours altogether with a plug change. Did belt, pulley and tensioner in an hour, very easy, Continental kit $108.
Both cars run great and feel tight and strong still. I don't think I even had any light bulb failures at all.
Please don't tell me BMW cars are junk. They are expensive to fix if you don't do it yourself. Use UA-cam videos for instruction and car club forums to learn how to DIY. There are often several videos on a given repair or maintenance job. Do watch them all to get a fuller sense of the ins and outs (some vids are great, some are not). Good luck!
Amen! My first car was a 2008 328, then I had a 2016 328, now I’m in a 2019 330 and my wife has a 2019 x3. DIY maintenance is cheap and doesn’t require nearly the technical skills you would think. Way more fun to drive than a generic car
Liked you video. Just bought one BMW for my wife (2016 328i) and I loved it so much, the same year, I bought one (2014 750Li) for my birthday. I have a 1997 Lexus LS400, I bought in 2000, which is an ultimate machine with all the bells and whistles. I put a cover over the Lexus and just drive it around the block every now and then... I didn't like that front grill on the new Lexus LS series and the price tag was outrageous... When I bought my BMW, I drove to Myrtle Beach to play some golf and back and the ride was like Ali says, flow like a butterfly.
Just bought my 1st BMW last move. it's a 2002 330ci. Haven't been able to drive it cuz I had a survey 2 weeks ago but can't wait to get behind the wheel. Thanks for these tips and I've seen a few of your videos and you really good advice. Keep the videos coming they're really helpful.
Old but gold! Recently got a 2014 328i and I've been watching your videos. Tons of help & knowledge being passed down and I appreciate every bit of it. I've already learned so much in just a few days from these videos which I'm sure will save me hundreds if not thousands. You're doing god's work, Much love
Glad I could help! 🙏🏻
Just becareful on the timing chain. Those are known to give out and destroy the engine completely. $5,000 repair.
@@camposjesus3725 what would I need to look out for as in symptoms wise ? I have a 328xi 2007 e90 6 speed Manuel with 259,000 km the timing chain and the timing guard have never been replaced and or timed. Should I be tackling this issue or do I just continue to drive it even thought I have spent roughly 1100$ on parts and maintenance already as the previous owner neglected the maintenance a lot and always took it to a bmw stealer ship only for them to try and charge him a ton of cash and he would always put some of the repairs off and just never got around to doing them and now I bought the car and read the entire 14 years worth of history and nowhere does it say this car had its valve cover, oil pan gaskets changed. It’s still running the og thermostat and water pump, same disa valves and man the spark plugs were cooked but she’s running strong af now thanks to me ! But what’s bothering me is this timing chain as I heard there to be done every 120,000 kms and this one hasn’t been done in 259,000km …. Final verdict any help and or feeed back is greatly appreciated

I really like your channel! I purchased my first BMW a few months ago and this video popped up and made me a fan. Would love to chat with you about my troubles and a huge win. Regardless keep them coming good sir! (Bought a used 2010 BMW X5)
Bro you are the best. I order my oil and filters from Europe and I learned how to change my oil because of you. Thanks for being honest in your content. 👍👍👍👍👍

Just bought a mint 16 z4 s28i w/ mileage in the teens and Love It! great video keep up the great job!
Nice video JB. Just bought my first BMW---2008 328xi. Looking forward to enjoying driving again. Big jump from a '96 Civic. Thanks for the great info.
Congrats man. I was conflicted between a newer civic or an older 320/328, but I'm leaning towards the latter.
Just got my first BMW, also a 2008 328xi. 80k miles. 1 previous owner. 6spd Manual. A giant difference from my last ride which was a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 270k miles lol. Still have the Jeep, might just keep it to save miles on the BMW until or if it ever dies. That Jeep 4.0L engine is so bulletproof.
I just got the 238xi 2009!
@@santi-bi6ki how's it going? any issues? Thinking about getting an 5S
@@paulmutuura3817 all I’ve needed to replace so far are the rear shocks and springs as well as the cable box (128,000 miles). Drives like a ducking beauty but that bitch is built so tight, there’s like no room to work with lol. No future for engine modifications with my model so either buy the turbo models or take it to a professional. BMW’s are incredible cars and each of my buddies has one. Def join the gang man!
Hey Justin, I'm in the market. Thanks for the info and great video!
I've occasionally used 89 midgrade in my E46. Runs fine. I think knocking is very rare with computer controlled engines nowdays.
Some good advice there. It applies to any make, not just BMW. I've just bagged a 1995 E36 BMW 318i SE saloon (sedan) and I'll be doing as much of the work as possible myself. Genuine OEM parts from the dealer aren't always expensive and are sometimes on a par pricewise with good quality aftermarket parts. I'm glad we don't have those oil change places here in the UK unless you count Kwik Fit (one of the tyre and exhaust "fast fit" chains).
Nice video, been here since 10k!
Thanks! That was a while ago!
Justin Buice Yup 👌🏼
Man this video was literally what I needed. Just copped my 335I and I'm itching to start working on it! You, Adam Lz, Simply car things, Brandon B, and BMW Fanatic are hands down teaching this young grasshopper so much! Lol Definitely going to join those groups to get my insight. Thanks for the videos my man.
How did it go?
This channel was exactly what I needed 👍😁
JB Thanks for your informative vids. I'm looking to purchase my 1st BMW pretty exited.. thanks for all the tips!
Another vote for Akebono pads. Practically no dust and stops on a dime even when wet and cold. The only down side is the back plate on the pads tend to be a bit smaller than stock and you do get a clunky sound with the caliper while the pads bite on the rotor, Akebono might have solved that problem lately.
TKS... great vid ! Just subscribed 👌🏻....very useful info I have an X6 35i 2014 ... I'll check your channel for gen info... God bless! Again, Tks a lot 👌🏻
I just bought A 2006 BMW 330 I and I'm learning your videos are helping

Bought an e46 330ci as my first bmw damn i was happy since it is nearly my dream car (e46 m3)
Yep had the 530 m sport was an m54 engine. Same one in the e46 m3. Called an s54. Magnesium alloy head. Super great straight six lump. Will out last all the turbo lumps now. I have twin turbo desiel now. F30 model.
im thinking should i get an e39 m5 as my first car?
Very helpful information. I’m doing my research on 5 series. Planning on buy my first bmw next year.
I second the comment about the dusty and fast wearing front brake pads. I replaced mine with ceramic pads when the brake wear sensor on the dashboard came on. The new pads require noticeably greater pedal pressure but create very little dust. The pad wear sensors will have a small strip of metal worn off them when the pads get thin enough to to allow the rotors to rub the sensors. When the metal strip wears off, the brake pad wear indicator light turns on. The Sensors can be repaired by soldering a small short across the remainder of the sensor's metal strip. Keep the short thin, not a large blob of solder or the rotor will rub it off prematurely.
Trying buy this 05 series 3 bmw in a few weeks hopefully I get it 🤞🏾
Did u get it!
That's why I love my black rims, they never get dirty, and brake dust is not a visual issue.
yup i mine came with them black dubs sicasstits
Just recently bought my first BMW - E91 320d Touring, so I've subbed to your channel as I'd like to learn how to do most of the maintenance myself. Just been working my way through a deep clean of the interior, as it's been a family car for some time, and it was in need of some love. Got a few other jobs to do, but a service is now main priority.
Great car. I have the 330D!

Do you measure Octane different in the US, compared to Europe ? The lowest Octane here in Germany is 95. Premium fuel has 98 and special fuel from a big company even has 102 Octane and you can get it at almost every of there stations
Yes, in the US we use the AKI rating system (anti knock index.) In Europe you have RON (research octane number)
There is another thing: The phrase - "Well it's a BMW" is what every mechanic and parts sales person uses for when you react with astonishment at the high price.
Do not take the car back to the dealer, they know little or nothing about the car. Find an independent mechanic with years of experience and they are worth their weight in gold. Some dealers don't even work on the engine but farm it out. They are all about sales and little else.
James Harris where are you’re getting your information from?
Staiby Baby he is completely accurate, I know this from experience
17Industries What experience?
This is very much incorrect. At least to the places you might take it to.
@@mauriciogarcia827 Well thanks for the blanket statement with absolutely nothing to back it up. Did you suppose I pulled my post out of my hat? I owned my Z3 for 19 years 11 months and was constantly amazed at how uninformed BMW was about my car - a BMW. On the other hand an independent I found proved to me over and over he had the ability to work on the car so be became my single source. There is not enough time here for all details but I had an experience with State Farm and BMW over repairs done to my car after a collision - someone hit me. They insisted it was repaired properly but after a year, letters to the State Insurance Commissioner and my mechanic I finally forced State Farm to complete the repairs @ an additional $3,000.00. Many BMW dealers don't really work on the car they just sell them.
Just bought my first 2016 BMW 328i SULEV... and it's love at first sight!

I've bought yesterday a F33 435d xdrive cabrio. Can't wait to drive it!!
Hey Justin, what are your thoughts on BMW no longer offering their legendary NA straight six on any of their models? Do you think BMW will return to their glory days and offer cars that cater to enthusiasts like the the previous 3 series gens (E30, E36, E46, E90/2/3)? Not sure if you already touched on this in a previous video...if you did, I'll definitely check it out!
I haven't done a video on it yet but it might be a good idea for future content! I think it's too bad that they no longer offer them and probably never will. I think that all car companies, but especially European and Japanese are prioritizing fuel efficiency and smaller turbo engines have proved to be more efficient. Who knows, maybe one day people will realize how great engines like the N52 were and they will become sought after!
What do you mean? They do offer S6. At least they do here in Europe.
I swear I thought I was reading my own post when I read this, me n you have same mind
I am sure some of the most models have 6 cylinder engines. Because of emissions regs In Europe they are using 3 and 4 cylinder engines. I have a 2005 118d and it's a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter diesel engine. It's a really nice car but expensive when things go wrong. Coming up for 200k miles soon
Just bought an bmw 316i dont know how to use half of the buttons in the car
Hi Justin, always wanted a bmw, after a while of watching you’re videos I got motivated and bought my first, and happy with mine…
Thanks

You make some great videos man!
I just bought a 330i and have no idea what I wanna do as my first mods. Would love to get your insight
armand yao For a 330i I would definitely go for headers since you already have the 3 stage manifold. Also an exhaust no muffler deletes though. Congrats on your car.
I do a lot of mods on mine but I have a 328i so first I had to build to 330i specs. Also the intake box and boot would be something to look into replacing I’ve done all of these mods if your interested.
I'm on the same page. Just got my 335I about 2 weeks ago and I'm itching to start working on it!

Just sold my BMW today. It’s a nice car to drive, and yes the look and the feel is amazing, but even after doing preventative maintenance, and there STILL being issues. I mean if it’s just my bad luck than I guess I suck, but that can be someone else’s problem. I have a 2015 Nissan with all he bells and whistles, I’m saving the rest of my money for a trip overseas, I have no regrets :)
Still love your vids tho man!!!!
which bmw was it? and honestly just to tell you the truth the nissan is actually worth then the bmw now nissan is owned by a french company their so unreliable now
Star Ships 2011 328i 75k miles on it. Did all the maintenance myself.
which kind of issues? certainly you werent doing enugh maintenance
Star Ships I agree the newer Nissan went down, my girlfriend has a 2006 Pathfinder with 160k miles and that thing never goes to a service shop, runs like brand new, the newer Pathfinder are rubbish compared to it.
Actually very helpful. Thank you very much man, just bought my BMW in August
glad I could help!
You seem like the most chillest dude ever! Like never mad never sad or anything always positive and happy also I want a BMW I own a Chevy spark now but I'm scared it's gonna cost a lot!
1) Check the tyre pressure at least once a week, handling goes off well before the pressure sensors kick in.
2) If you like cornering fast throw away the run flat tyres.
3) If the car runs wide out of corners try turning the computer aids to DTC, if that cures the problem you need new / better tyres.
4) On a 1 series or E90 don't even think about cheap oil, Castrol Edge fully synthetic is one of the best. Scrimping on this will lead to a snapped camchain and a totaled engine.
5) Forget the oil change interval in the manual (mine says every 2 years or 15,000 miles) minimum every 10,000 miles or every year whichever comes first (see camchain problems above).
6) Don't drive a really good front wheel drive car as it will show up the BMW's weaknesses and you might wish you hadn't bought one.
