In this video I’m building the first piece of furniture I have ever made for myself, the Longview Dining Table. It is made with Cherry hardwood, and love. We also created long form video plans that can be purchased on our website, so go check that out if you want to build one of these for yourself. This build utilized plenty of interesting techniques including template routing, transition sanding, bevel cutting, jig making, domino connecting, and a lot of rocking good times.

Amazing design. 💛
I designed one similar a while back. It’s great to see that I wasn’t that far away in the design. I’ll try to make it one day.
Great job, thanks for the great motivational videos, I decided to make content on woodworking and I did it thanks to you!
Upside down but still looked great.
This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
I love this base design Shawn ! Such a cool look.
Love the design!
Every time I watch one of your videos, I feel like running in my shop and do some work. You are inspiring.
You know when Shaun builds something that there will be Urban Lullaby as the finished piece is being presented, and I love it!
It's too good! I have to.
My favorite. So damn good.
I have a dream that one day I'll make atleast one piece from your channel. Great designs and overall very smart approach. Dont dig and sell gold, sell the shovels.
Appreciate that! When you do make one, send us a picture!
I was just looking for absolute-beginner level table building inspiration and this was the first video that caught my attention. Now everything else is going to look dull in comparison. Thanks for showing what's possible once you get a little more advanced, keep up the good work. Greeting from Germany

I love love your site. I want everything you build.
Reminds me of Japanese Kumiko, awesome! You guys are definitely moving towards the Japanese styling, very cool stuff!
Japanese design and woodworking has always kind of been the pinnacle for me, so I am happy to hear that!
@@shaunb66 Hey Shaun, both of you seem to be leaning that direction and I've become a fan of your work.
Great woodworking techniques and excellent design! And hilarious as well. Please add more time when using the simple finish. It's my favourite part! Greetings from Chile.
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
Yes, I bought Simple Finish and have made many test pieces on different wood. I’d like your opinion on woods that the finish does not work as well, and also those it does. I found Southern yellow pine, and eastern white pine not that satisfying. I’d love to hear your, or others, thoughts. Thanks. I love the table design. You guys get better all the time!
Amazing table and super cool
Thanks!
You guys are funny and extremely talented. I love watching you create. TFS
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic!
Enjoyed the video and it really is a beautiful table! Well done!
Thanks Bruce!

Thanks Wayne!
Nice piece of work there young man :) pretty piece of furniture ...
I feel like by the time I work up to a level of comfort I would be able to furnish my whole place with pieces from y’all. Love it, great table and work as always.
That would be awesome! Thanks for watching!
fantastic design and build process.
Thank you!
Intro was hilarious 😂
Nice job.
I've been drawing plans for a similar chair and was almost finished...
I just bought your table and chair plan with templates.
Not because I couldn't do it, but because your version is awesome and I want to support you.
Fun stuff.
Really appreciate the support! Thanks for watching!
Bro with the four eyes always got the fresh jays 🔥💪🏽
Great work guys. Very engaging and entertaining.
Glad to hear it, thanks!

So nice simple design~!
Thanks!
Wow, what a great project, so clean, and what looks like simple classic lines and design. Execution as always, top notch. Now to get my wife to approve this and i can go buy the lumber.
Great design!

Awesome as always
Thanks!
You guys must have great vision insurance. Seems like you both have a new pair of specs for each build.
Love the build guys, keep it up. I bought the chair plans, I may pick up this one as well to help support what you guys do.
Haha, appreciate it! Thanks for the support, hope you enjoy the plans!
I have watched this before, it’s guidance for one I have to build 👍
another killer collab from 8 eyes!
Thanks! Glad you guys dig it!
Cool truck.
Haha, thanks!
Nice work sir please keep it up
Excellent as always, I like to see the techniques used to accomplish the job. All is matters of details, that in end are shown in the final product. Guys you are great, with your joking in middle of the narrative.😄😄😄
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching, Tony!
Very nice
You guys are the best of all the woodworkers. Love your style and the chill way you present your work. But seriously what's with this ultra murican title?
Late to the party but Shaun wearing the Jazz hat🙌🙌🙌
That router jig for the bevel is genius!
It worked great!
@@shaunb66 you should wear sunglasses during the videos, otherwise the name doesn’t make sense 😂
Awesome video and table..... Mr. Beveldere
Haha, thanks for watching!
I love these videos and your beautiful designs. Combining quality craft, great humor and stunning production. The best of the best. Now, could COVID-19 go away so I can jump a plane from Denmark and participate in your workshop classes. 😍👏
Thanks for watching! And I agree about that last part!
Perfect!
Thanks!
Awesome!
Thanks!
I have a similar table in my home. It has a glass panel embedded in the top tho 😁 Nice build!
She’s a beaut. Well done sir’s
Absolutely loved this. So one question: I presume you have the info how you got that wobble out of the desk, in the plan/training? I saw it was there during finish, but seemed to be taken care of after that. This is an absolutely fabulous build btw.
Hey man! Just looking gorgeous!
Appreciate it!
Great job, thanks for the great motivational videos, I decided to make content on woodworking and I did it thanks to you!
Great video great build as usual! That black and blue drill guide at the end, looks like the rockler guide?... can you provide a link for it please? Thank you!

The best videos ever. Haha and by the way... really beautiful dining table 🥺😨
Thank you!
@@shaunb66 i have to say that your work is a perfect inspiration 👌
I like that the plywood he uses for temporary sleds is better than the plywood I use for actual building.
Just have to use whatever you have laying around!
Wkwkwkwk... That intro.. 😂
Great job..
Beautiful. 👍
Thank you!
I just finished building this table. The recipient absolutely LOVES it! I built it to be 72x33, in walnut.
If you're wondering whether you should attempt it, do so! The plans are well drawn and the videos make it SUPER simple.
Can't wait to build it again.
I love the look of the table, it looks very elegant (like just about everything you guys do). I can't help but think that if someone sits on the ends of the table all they will do is kick the legs the whole time.
Thanks. The way the legs angle out to the corners gives plenty of room for legs when seated at the ends.
@@shaunb66 ahh, it's hard to get a feel for the dimensions on the video. Good to hear that though.
Not gonna lie... I liked the upside down base! Great work as always guys!
Haha, I knew there would be at least one person that liked it that way. I like the idea of a flippable table base.
This is gorgeous. I might adapt this for a build. How big is that router bit you used for the roundovers on the legs?
That bevel jig for the bottom table top edge.... genius!
I'll try to file that away in my head for the future for sure.
It worked like a charm!
I would have thought mounting the bottom stretcher slightly above the floor level (1/2 inch or so) would not affect strength, but allow for the table to be moved without the chance of dragging debris across a hardwood floor with resulting scratches. Perhaps even a gentle curve as you have used with good effect in other parts of this project.
Also avoid the issue of those gaps between base and floor (knowing no floor is ever completely flat).
Brett Jonathan I think that’s an even MORE important point. You’d hate to have a high spot in the floor make one of the ends float.
If the table was on a hardwood floor, one woild assume there would some type of pad/s under the legs which would prevent scratches in it's own right and would also lift the table slightly to prevent the issues mentioned below.
What do you think about using this style of base for a round table?
May it be unstable?
If I go for 1,2m in diameter and the top of the base around 1m
That would be typically 800mm in the bottom?
Sounds to narrow in the bottom for me. What do you think?
I would love too see more detail about the fastener install at 14:16
High fearless UNC to Chicago’s. 👌🏽
really great table design and fabrication. what was the drilling tool you used on the table top bottom
Damn.....anorher beautiful piece of furniture....with clear, concise, and intelligent descriptions of your work. Question ....your long grain template routing looks so smooth.....but when I hit the end grain....I can have the router jump or grab.....how do you handle end grain when you template rout. Hate to have my templates end up with nicks or gouges. Thanks again for going to the detailed plan projects/videos you and Chris are now selling!
Just slow, shallow passes when using a router on end grain. Also, using a 1/2" shank router bit with a sharp blade helps a lot. Thanks for watching!
Sweet VW pickup!
