    I will give you an advice . After you stick the reflector to the windscreen it will be more easy to position the unit below the reflector if you power it on , so you can see if the image fits correctly on the reflector :)

    Thanks for this video! I installed mine in about 15 minutes. I didn't use the reflective sheet as I can see it fairly clearly without. Hard to read the menu number upside down. I am still tweaking the various modes, but overall, a nice little well made unit with vital information displayed. My car has neither an RPM gauge, a water temperature gauge or a voltage meter on the dash. In the garage, the display is bright, but not overly so. Thanks again for providing this video. Much appreciated!!!

    Very good video. My only criticism is that it appears you installed the windshield film oriented horizontally but my film came with labels that clearly says to apply it vertically. In fact, if I had applied it as you did I would not be able to get the full display to reflect onto the film and I think that it shows in your video as it appears the bottom of your display is not projected on the film but rather on your windshield glass....If you look carefully at the reflected display it fits the width of the film only when the film is applied vertically. This allows drivers of different heights to see the reflected display from different points of view.

    Doubt it's the unit I'd want but you did a nice job on the review. You speak clearly, no music, no b/s, nice job.

  • @JosePerez-bi4ge
    @JosePerez-bi4ge 5 років тому +6

    You can get a great picture on the windshield by making a "rectangle" with some very very light tiny or mirrored tint that is very transparent, if you cant find the light mirrored you can find it in the rolls that go lighter as they go to the top of the side window. You can barely see it on the windshield but it makes the image so clear and bright even in the daytime which is the best benefit of it.

    First, congrats for be able to read that indecipherable users manual. Your instructions were very useful in helping me set up the device. I disabled most of the display that I didn't need, such as the water temp, fuel consumption, etc. I use only the tach and speedometer. I also set up the tach over rev warning. I've been able to dial in the speedometer, dropping it by 2 points to get it close enough for what I needed it to display.

      I like the engine over temperature alarm although I don't know what the set-point is (wish I did) and don't like that I cant change the set-point. I like knowing what my engine temperature is and my speed. The engine RPM over-speed alarm, and MPH display are good features IMO. I don't give a shit what my instantaneous fuel consumption is, and I think the fuel consumption calculation slows down the MPH and other data updates. I would like to turn the fuel consumption calculation off but cant so I covered it with black electrical tape. Also I covered the meaningless shit on the bottom right with electrical tape.

    I just put a A8 5.5 inch OBD II Car HUD Head Up Display Windscreen Projector on my 2015 F150 XLT. It works perfectly ! The only thing I would add is.. when you apply the reflective screen,spray the windshield ,peel the back side off and very gently press it on the wet window,then peel the front protector off. SIT IN THE DRIERS SEAT. Use your finger nails to slide it in the right position ..then use the squeeze and paper towel to get the water out ... Great Video ThankX

    Nice video, very informative. I would also add that the device in this video, is clearly set with the left hand drive market in mind. This is evident from the input being placed only on the left. If installed in a right hand drive vehicle the lead will exit to the centre of the dash rather than towards the ‘A’ pillar.

    the key is to get a hud which just shows speed and not much else. that way you have minimal disturbance of the screen. i had one of these 10 years ago with some reflective film and it was very useable/good.

    I had one of these HUD units in my old car. They are crap. You can’t get a accurate speed. You play with the setting and it’s only accurate at the speed you’re setting it too. It will be out 2-5km off what you’re actually going.

I plugged it up and it'll cut on but it won't get past the main screen that shows HUD battery voltage and battery light..I've tried different things..unplugging and plugging it back to make sure it's firm..cutting it on/off before/after starting car but it won't get past that screen it'll show like 13.0 volts and go around that range and just cut off after a few seconds and cut back on like 10 minutes later then back off after a few seconds. Any idea?

I would have liked to see how you run your wire. I intend to drill a hole in the back of the original display and run it up through the inside of the dash. I will also be replacing the wimpy interior foot lighting with strip Leds like I have in my Subaru Outback. I will also be running strip lighting down the ceiling on eather side of the sky view glass. This van will have everything a Conversion van has when I am finished.

      +Rolf Stiehl hello excuse someone can help me set fuel the truth I have not the slightest idea how to do, I have a Toyota Yaris 2003 engine capacity 1.3 if they can give me further instructions that menu set and values place would be very grateful

      +Gaspar Cabrera Martinez I have set menu 13 to a very low value and menu 14 to 1. After that I could fine adjust reference fuel consumption. I guess problem is the unit of that value, probably not l/km but l/mile or something else.

      +Rolf Stiehl about fuel consumption sent from obd2 port, what actually average is: average from the start of the computer history or I can set somehow for some short trip?

    I'm guessing if you don't have an electronic speed display in your dash to begin with you can't get this data? My speedo is the old analogue gauge, I don't think the obdII would be getting any speed info.

    • @livingaboard
      @livingaboard 8 років тому +2

      that would be incorrect.

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 8 років тому

      captainkrunch How would that be? My gauge is driven by a cable from the gearbox so how would this data get to the obdii system?

    • @livingaboard
      @livingaboard 8 років тому +5

      if you have an obd2 car then you are going to have a speed sensor of some sort so the computer knows what is going on with your car. That doesn't really have anything to do with your cable driven speedometer.

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 8 років тому +2

      captainkrunch Great, so one of these huds should work with any car with an obd2? Thanks for the info.

      Out of interest what car do you have? Most analogue gauges are driven electrically v8a electronic connection these da6s with no cable attachment.

      For the functionality, size, and information it provides 10 dollars is a slap in it's face. I paid 30 which is about where it should be. As far as hidden, it's black and sits low on your dash. Not very noticeable when you have it tucked in the corner.

    Very cool, just checked my car. It's a Ford Taurus 2006 and yup I've got a OBD which I wasn't sure about. Think I'll pick one of these gadgets up. But before I buy, need to check my states laws about this first. I had a old Ford LTD station wagon before this car, that had a small 6 inch crack about 3 inches from the bottom center of my windshield (there when I got it from my brother). So I was late for work and got pulled over for speeding (70 in a 50). Cop wrote the ticket and gave me a warning about the crack. Said I needed to fix it, because it was an obstruction of view.

    I had a 2002 Saab 93 se and it had night panel mode that turned off all the dash except speedo. Speedo was lit from 0-140km/h and I do believe the rest lit up once you hit 135km/h. If you ran low on gas it's gage lit up. Some people think why would you want that. It was cool, I rather drive in darkness inside the cabin, yet only see minimal info.

      Yes, menu items 3, 4, 5, and 6 control the alarms on the unit. You'll need to consult your manual to determine which values would turn the alarm off.
