Running All of My Ho Steam Locomotives - Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2020
- After receiving many requests I decided to do an update to my previous video "Running all my Ho steam locomotives" from 2018. As it would turn out not every one of these engines ran perfectly but I still ran what I could. Since I ended up taking over 40 minutes of footage I decided to split this video into two parts. The second should be on its way soon.

The most famous words in history, "It's a runner!"
love the roundhouse ATSF prairie painted gold. I have one in the garage with that hollow bottom die cast tender that I haven't built yet. Fun!

Has grown a little bit, more like has exploded into an amazing hobby
This is how I started watching SMT, and I have watched his videos ever since
My oh my , what a magnificent collection of locomotives dude !
i watched the video 2 times in a row cause it was so good! Keep up the good work smt
Great video! cant wait for part 2!
Can't wait for part 2
Watching this video and seeing all of those great train show finds and projects makes me feel that my model train addiction is not so serious requiring professional intervention at this point in my life.
My grandpa would've really loved to have had this collection
*sees thumbnail* - *watch's video* dang you have more steam engines than I have diesels and steam engines combined!!! Great job on the video, it's amazing to see how many you've aquired
Hey Harrison, congrats on hitting 16K subs! @12:51 the Bachmann New Haven loco is supposed to run on DC as well. It should even have a smoke unit. You may need to remove the DCC chip or put in a jumper. Mark (M&M Rails) has an Atlas that is both DCC and DC which required manually switching it to one or the other.
Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍
Hey you always seen apartments reading before hardwood so I want all of his trains
101 Hanover bombing trains Sarah baartman trade I wish I have all this bachmann trains listen uses damn you just put a text boil Pizza on that wall this change this is me kam
Am one pliiiiiiiis
Wow you have a lot of them
Nice look steam fleet SMT! really like that tourist train you had running there as well as the sound equipped steamer! Take care!
Il
I thought this man was just going to put all of them on the track and start running them all together
I just went back and watched all the old videos yesterday
All of your steam locomotives beside the 909 all combined would cost the amount of the engine I’m getting lmao
Must be pretty nice, what is it? A brass bigboy?
Great!!!!!! Thank you for showing your collection!!!! Quite impressive!!!!!!!
It sure is, unlike mine😐
that's an amazing collection
Woah I wish I had model trains your good at getting them but keep up the good work
YAY THANK YOU SO MUCH! I WAS WANTING THIS!
It’s nearly 12 am and here I am looking at someone messing with model trains
Today is a good day.
Amazing video
Базаров нет, прекрасная коллекция моделей паровозов и локомотивов! 🤩👍
Beautiful.
Like you
Glorious stalin
You could make the Casey Jones cannon ball express train from the 5 dollar 4-6-0 loco
You have built up quite the collection
WHAT!? IVE BEEN GONE FOR A MONTH AND YOURE ALREADY AT 16K SUBS!!😆😆 Love you SMT!
This man has inspired me to build my own train table thanks to him if he wasn’t on UA-cam then I wouldn’t be making one
At least you'll have plenty of "Can We Make It Run" videos ;-)
Yay I love steam locos
My train enthusiasm is shining
Ay
One of Smt finest collection showcase videos
I have the Tyco Santa Fe steam engine
One of the ones you have in the beginning but mine has the cab
Great videos btw
A lot of steam! My kind of video! I am trying to expand my steam collection and someday have a DCC version of every steam engine wheel configuration I can get. So far I am making pretty good progress, maybe I should make a similar video!
Damn that’s a lot and last time you did this I remember it was like a quarter of this
well the good thing the model power loco that we always see on the side now runs :)
You have a lot of steam locomotives! Holy moly bro
Yeah true
4 likes in 20 minutes. Unexpected. Never get that many in 20 minutes
Most of them were cheap pick ups so it would seem that way
Oh. Ok, some are cheap pick ups. But if they run. They are still model trains
Tru
I love your videos I'm just caming in to the hobby and looking for some train staff to build up my ho scale set
Wow there are so much steam locomotives my eyes can't close 👁️👄👁️
Got steam? Haha nice collection!
4:46 what a cute locomotive
@SMTMaineline what do you like so much about the Rivarossi locos? Sorry if it’s covered in another video. Haven’t watch them all yet. Great channel keep them coming.
Nice collection I have a few of those too
Holy cow! The collection must have doubled since last time.
that boiler on that "brass" engine isnt brass either. its a one for one copy of an MDC Roundhouse ATSF 4-4-2. They reused the 4-4-2 boiler on their 2-6-2 chassis, making an oddball. You can see the piping is all molded on. Its just painted much better, probably spray can, whereas everything else is likely brush painted.
This man has So many steam locos that the vid is 20 mins and it’s still only part 1
XD
More 🚆
XD
Very inspiring
I hope you hit 40k sub :D
I know it's not my stuff, but if it were, I would probably pick up all my locos with both my hands. Heck, I even do that with my cheap bachman n scalers. Other than that, keep up the great work, I always loves seeing your unboxing videos!! ✌️
I usually do but I can't while holding a camera.
Wow, you have a very massive train collection. I also have my own, but too small, just a japanese and a american train Ho scale.
japanese locomotives? tell me more!
@@BlaxlandRidge3 Well, actually I just have one of them, a Shinkansen N-700 series N scale when my father visit Japan and gave me it. Japanese trains are my top of the best trains in the world, and you probably like them too.
Mechanism of these trains are great at all, my favorite part of them is their working lights when moving the train.
Also I like Densha, a subway train that are really cool too.
I know all of this because I lived in Japan a few years before the 2008 tsunami.
So honestly, I recommend you these japanese train series.
@@artualneon117 I model HO, and while I know Japan runs cape gauge, I'm jonesing for an HO C62. I'm going to try building one myself out of a mantua 4-6-2. N seems to be Japan's most popular gauge.
@@BlaxlandRidge3 Omg rlly? make me a Streamliner F-7 train, I'll pay it idk, having a train scale maded by a UA-camr will be so cool ;-;
@@artualneon117 F-7 locomotives are one of the most WIDELY produced HO scale models. Finding one should be a piece of cake. Of course it depends on where you live. With how common they are making one would sort of be a lost cause.
17:31 I have a locomotive just like that and it’s nice that you mentioned that it had problems because my locomotive ran the first day I got it but then the second day it started to just stopped trying to function and the wheels wouldn’t spin. Can you maybe give me advice on how to fix it?
You are awesome
Mainline
Nice video!
Nobody:
SMT: half of a quarter of an amp
10:23 is the time stamp if anyone wants it
Modern quality can motors are very efficient,1/8 of an amp under near no load conditions is likely.Don't confuse this type of motor with the less precise motors that go for around ten bucks or so.
Me with my g scale 18v 10 amp power supply
My fav is the 0-6-0 tender, the Hiawatha, daylight and the spirit of 76
You should do another loco price collection / locomotive timeline video!
Im a fan now i subbed
I got 14 more trains coming. I have over 200 now. Not quite like yours. Finally i got me a new lionel daylight 4-8-4. Got it all ready with exception of the pistons and wheels are not yet in right position. After that is done should be great runner. Engines are perfect in both so either way it's done.
good god, that's a lot!
at 2:41 if you ever want to do a guy a favor and part with the cab for that loco I'd be so grateful....
Wow amazing
might want to look an idea storage environment to store the locos that are not being used so prevent oxidation
I have 20+ steam locomotives, most of wich are 1990's Mantua Classic and AHM/IHC late production. They all run very well.
If you want to have them, sometime in the future I can send you 20 freight cars I don't need, most are Walthers Mainline Centerbeam Cars with canadian lumber loads, Canadian Grain Cars, Athearn Blue Box Boxcars, an Athern Genesis SD70ACe, A KATO SD90/43MAC, and a KATO UP SD40-2.
Now that's a lot of steam locomotives
The steam engine army!
Your British loco is a Hornby Dublo/Wrenn Southern Railway R1. I have several that I have converted into other Southern locos. You should get more British stock!
The little green engine that almost got turned into a parts engine 4:41
It’s a e2 tank engine
I did some looking online and found out that peculiar grey/red 0-4-0 is a train from the PlayArt company.
The British engine is Hornby Dublo they used magnets to make the engine work . You can get replacement magnets off eBay - neo magnet should improve the running Hornby Dublo stopped making trains in 1964.
All those engines put together must be worth my house...
Agreed, I just can't stand seeing people stumped when I could help.
you got a new sub :D
Can't beat a nice IHC steam loco.
Moderate price. Very dependable.
I swear man. You be flexing on some of us who don’t have many HO trains
I'm not interested in doing that. Some people just wanted to see my steam locomotives so I decided to make a video on it.
It’s called showing a collection
0:46 SMT's own "The Small Doot"
Oh my god,very nice
Dang nice locos
0:00 “helllll folks”
I absolutely adore steam locomotives. I’ve always wanted to see one in operation. I live about 3 hours from NKP 765 so I hope to see her someday!
While living in Scotland we went on a trip to the Highlands and watched a steam train go over Glenfinnan Viaduct, the one famous rail bridge from Harry Potter and I took some pictures with pre-war film camera. I also enjoyed riding as a passenger in a historical steam steam train in Moravia (Bohemian-Moravian highland). And in Scotland sailing on the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world, PS Waverley.
HOLY *smokes~* :) that’s a loooooooooot of steam trains
Nice Collection of oo ho Steam locomotive and Diesel locomotive!
The reason some of them weren't working properly is because with older models you need to warm it up by helping it do laps around the track. Older used trains aren't made to be used at the same speed all the time, but kids never read the manual and love using it on full speed every time. Then, by the time you get it, it will always have starting issues and a much lower life expectancy. Once you help the train around the track it will eventually get used to the rails and will run at least 3/4 smoothly. You WILL have to do this every time you pull it out again unfortunately.
Do you have any explanation by why letting them warm up helps? I've heard a lot of people make this claim but I can't seem to wrap my head around why it would do anything other then the commutator clearing off from fiction. DC motors work best at a fairly high RPM which is why I usually run them fast.
I was hoping you'd ask. Electric motors require friction to run, but first they have to get warm hence the friction. That's why the ol' brush motors use brushes to brush against the motor. As for the tracks and wheels, when they're warmer they do conduct better as the widely spread molecules of warm metal conduct easier than tightly clustered molecules of cold metal.
While they don't seem cold, they're cold enough to matter. And because they're small they get cold fast.
I can’t even imagine what it would look like if there was one shed to store every single one
It would have to be a pretty big layout for something like that, haha.
I LOVE steam trains
FINALLY!!!!!!!!
We should continue making SMT do this. His layout already looks less cluttered
About you saying that the NYC tender possibly looking silly with that Rivarossi switcher, it was more common than you might think as there do exist builder's photos of switchers with massive 12 wheel tenders that would be more at home on road locomotives.
I wasn't aware. Thanks for sharing :)
O-O thats a lot of steams just a lot of trains in general
Holy cow yeah you got a Huge fleet of steam engines. My favorite because you can see the movement and everything. Its something nostalgic about it vs seeing a diesel which just makes noise and stuff. But thats just an opinion. Bet this took hours to get it set right . lots of hard work put here especially its part 1 ohhh man part 2 is gonna be good we all know that cant wait!
Waaw i like your steam locomotive is so cool
Can you fix the jupiter ?
I wonder if you have the biggest train collection on you tube
I like all the trains in part one and two
Awesome. 💙 T.E.N.
How did you get so many HO steam locomotives?
There's this thing called a job. At this job, he earns what's called money. With that money, he can buy things. In this case, it's a nice group of steam locomotives.
@@polarys425 Yeah, I know that
One at a time.
He has his ways
A magical piece of paper called money
Look at all those steam engines... WOW :D
I have a huge question to ask, I don't have the space nor the money to have a model railroad, but I would like to own an engine or two (Steam) for display.
What are the cheapest options I can go to if I were to buy one cause I've tried my best to find cheat loco's online but have had no luck so far.
Any tips?
I'm surprised the 80's bachmann locomotives work lol
You should get more steam locomotives like a PRR K4 or a PRR S2 or a shay class
Wow I only have 2 locomotives . Not steam just all. Good vid too.
1:22 that’s called a dockside switcher
