wow. came in peace and humble. in a calming friendly voice respectfully completely crushed the plugin competitors by doing a chilled tutorial on how you can crush them in bitwig and have fun. thats like true badass :D
Thanks, Polarity! This one I neither needed nor wanted, but every time I see a new plugin that's somewhat novel (or a generative technique that's new to me) I end up trying to implement it in the grid, and it usually works. There's still something to be said for a nice UI, which is what you buy when you buy a plugin, but reimplementing this like this has become something of a sport to me :-)
This is way cooler than Transit, I just switched to Bitwig, I am blown away how much better is than Ableton, even Push 2 is better with Bitwig, thanks for tutorials!
I mean you elegantly used this opportunity of raving about that transit plugin and nicely showed off how and why bitwig is so much ahead with these things to the other available DAWs.
I thought the same thing and thought I'd try to recreate it completely in Bitwig when it came out but in my case I found that the Bitwig version uses more CPU and at the end of the day is overall less practical to use for this specific use case (like shaping the curve is more complicated, and understanding what's going on is confusing with lots of plugins loaded) but of course Bitwig lets you do anything and is better if you have a specific idea in mind or if you want to use other Vsts. ...
this was the first thing I thought of when I started seeing videos. I watched it get shown off and I went "I'm not buying this, I can make this in Bitwig" lol
This is a great way of explaining your thought process. Probably the only thing I would still kind of want Transit for would be the randomiser, but beyond that there's not much else. Excellent work as usual.
yea the randomizer makes sense in the context of the plugin. if you modulate multiple things on different tracks in your project, you will get a different result on each project anyway.
Dear Polarity, first of all a praise for your willingness to share your really deep knowledge about Bitwig and especially Grid with us here. But to make a better learning for us possible some suggestions: Please make the mouse cursor more visible, be it by enlarging it or such a way that makes this tiny thing traceable. Reducing your menu selection speed would also be very helpful. Thanks a lot
Word! Diving deep and learning the craft and the possibilities Bitwig is giving with all its unique outstanding features, besides having the classic DAW tools and devices, can open up new galaxies instead of a nice shiny single planet 🌻
Echoing the sentiments in the comments section, whenever I saw some producer overhyping the plugin I was like "wait, I can just do this in Cardinal for free"
I agree that being able to modulate a channel of effects is already easy to do in Bitwig. What I am curious about is how can one interpolate between parameters/presets in Bitwig? That's IMO what makes a plugin like Transit a powerful performance tool.
Really?! Dang, that sucks because I just used a product key to activate the full version of bitwig last week! So I don't need any upgrades because i activated the full version all at once. And I've been wanting crystalline for like a year! Dang I hate when I just barely out on things like this when i coukd have just waited a few days!
I felt Transit was a cleaned up Infiltrator... I am a fan of baby audio so i picked it up since its on sale.. I played with it a bit and its interesting but just wanted a quick fix but i already forgot i had it until seeing this video... the bread and butter presets were pretty underwhelming but i see the potential... The random button sold me...
When you have knowledges like this man , you`re basically can save more money . Not just for Transit but for lots of plugins IMHO . The question is can we do it by ourselves ? Creating Random result using Modulation is fun , but getting much controlled randomization which still in scope of musical spectrums , not easy. Except you have good knowledges just like @polaritymusic , you literally can replicate any plugins you want
When Transit was released, I was thinking the exact same thing. Bitwig's new project modulators are so powerful that I had trouble seeing the point of buying a separate plugin for the exact same purpose. Transit's presets and randomizer seem pretty handy, but if one has Bitwig, they already have access to several different means of transportation.
@@PolarityMusic exactly! Also, if one had the time and energy, I'm pretty sure they could create a very usable transition randomizer to offset the difference to Transit even further.
Yea I see plugins like transit and infiltrater as quick and easy ways of achieving effects that would sometimes take a lot of time to craft and tweak. Tho bitwig is probably the most powerful for creating them, there are ways of achieving theses fx in basically every daw. Myself, i understand their usefulness because sometimes you just want a quick creative effect, but don't want to spend a bunch of time creating it. For a bitwig genius like polarity, it's nothing to create them. But for me they might take hours lol. I'm the type that starts with drum samples and then tweaks them (or honestly, many times I don't lol). I don't have the inclination to spend time designing a kick, when its just a simple bit of sound, and so many millions have been created for me to use already lol. In the end, only purist electronic music producers ask how you crafted the kick 😅. Most of us just grab a kick and go. But if you enjoy doing thar sort of thing, by all means, do it! As long as you're having fun, that's the name of the game.
@@trashtvtrashwatch3200i dont think you need a send/return routing for this. just a container and good modulation for the input gain and wet fx mix. its hard to explain in the comments. but its totally possible as an insert fx
I didn't buy this plugin despite needing all the help I can get. I like all the baby audio plugins I already own, smooth operator is very good. I like some Ujam stuff too . Apparently those guys worked with Hans Zimmer back in the day. UVI has a great riser plugin tool I also use if I need a riser.
did the random button in transit choose a random preset or it actually randomly select modules and assign random amount of modulations to different knobs?
Ive enjoyed waitching you create in bitwig for a couple years now, and I just received bitwig as part of my interface bundle. I want to use it for its clip recording and arrangement features, and i assume that i will rarely use the grid (tho it will be fun to try i think lol). But i was thinking about becoming a patreon, and wanted to ask if there are FX related patches that youve made available to patrons? Or is it mostly generative type patches? While i love watching you create them, i doubt i would really use them. But i probably would use FX style patches. The less i have to go outside the daw for audio effects, the more cpu i can save (and the less $$ i will spend 😅).
I like the presets in Transit as a starting point for transition ideas, and for quickly resampling certain elements, but long term I’m making my own custom motion fx racks. Simply because I can make far more complex and personalized fx with Grid and Bitwig native fx and modulators

I think the edge of Transit is only in the randomisation of what it puts in different fx slots and how it randomizes amounts of the macro
I'd also say for DAWS like Reaper, this would be an amazing, inspirational tool as well.
This is a great way of explaining your thought process.

Hey, nice you did this "extra" video specifically about transit!!! Also i love the simple and clear title very much haha!
if we can get the preset modulator, that would be the icing on the cake
The first thing I thought was. You could build that with stock stuff in your DAW.

i mean it’s just a multi-fx plugin with one macro knob, you can easiliy do it yourself. it’s more a workflow thing.
also maybe the quality of the individual effects
this is very funny timing because bitwig just added free baby audio crystaline if you buy an update or use a key.

Is there an easy technique in BW for these project modulator riser FX to have them fade out like with send/return channels?
not sure what you mean, do you think about reverb tails from the sweep?
@@PolarityMusic yes for example. If you use this with insert fx only (master) there are no tails which is das for live performance
