  • In this video I put two ZAN slugs to the test against the Air Arms Diabolo Field. The first is the lead free 8.5 grain dish based slug, and the second is the 10 grain dish based slug. Suprisingly, the lead free were really accurate, while the 10 grain lead slugs were giving around a 12mm group at 22.3 yards, the distance for close range rat and vermin control. The rifle used was the Daystate Air Wolf, fitted with the DiscoveryOpt ED-PRS 4-20x52 SF IR FFP scope. A great combination of a setup.

now for my red wolf they really don’t work so well over a bit of distance but i think it’s the power drop like you say way more friction in the barrel. however i have not tried a light lubing to be fair . i would suspect those lead free ones are harder than a para out on the lash on a friday night

Surprised how well the lead frees did, personally I use mako slugs as they seem to suit my rifles and expand reall well even in sub 12

Yes, Mako is good. I've used them before. The Lead Zan also expands well, but the lead-free alternatives never seem to expand in sub 12. The Zan slugs are also good value compared to other slug brands.

@@airgunsniper-elite7385 that’s the trouble with slugs balancing the expense against accuracy just bought another lot of Mako… had interesting one the weekend tried rws super domes in my Katran an six out of seven went same hole 5.5mm from a .177 at 25m none of my others like them!

Great in my HW, not much luck in the other rifles, and that's . 20 cal, OK it was only 30mtrs, but as accurate as it's favourite pellet.. Dont know what the result would be at a greater distance, OR, what power it generated in comparison to the pellet, that's something I'll have to look into at a later date... WolverineR (. 177 ) is fairly good also...
