I read in a really old quilting book, that when you don't know what color setting or sashing to use -- use pink. I've followed that advice several times and I've been very pleased.😊 I need to add lime green to that quote.

I really like your sewing, the bear paw quilt will turn out pretty. I'm Native American from USA and my clan is Bear 🐻 so my symbol on my medallion and crafts would have a bear paw to identify my clan when I get together with other tribal members. You are so homey and I enjoy spending time watching you being creative

Hi Kate! About 4 years ago as a newbie to UA-cam, I was searching "quilting" and discovered your channel. I was immediately and completely hooked! I binge watched for days. I absolutely love watching you and your quilting projects💕 This quilt is beautiful and the backing is just perfect! I fondly remember sweet Norma (and your other kitties) and was so happy to see Cat Rita lovingly at home on the new quilt🥰 Thank you for your love of color and quilting and for sharing with us!

I loved seeing the hens and Eileen back then. Kate’s channel is still my favorite and every post is a delight.

I was looking for 'hexies' 2 1/2 years ago when I found Kate's channel. She was working on Agnes's quilt, and I thought, Oh, how striking! with them sewn in individually, instead of the typical flower motif. I'm doing mine in diamonds, but the outer edge may be a mix.
Love the assortment of her activities l, and her interactions with her family, friends, and course, her kitties.

I so agree with Mrsstick. I discovered you 2 years ago when both my husband and I had Covid, fairly seriously, and spent about a month getting over it. We even had to isolate from each other within our house for about 10 days. So, in the guest room I discovered your channel and watched you every night before going to sleep. What treat. Who else would make bear claws out of hot pink and lime green! So cheerful and fun. I hope one day the grandkids will be tucking their own children in with some of the lovely quilts you've made. I have a knitted afghan my Aunt made as a small child. Dolly sized, it's well over 100 years old and I hope to pass it down too. These things are treasures.

Love it! I am 65 and have been a sewer for most of my life. I started making Barbie doll cloths when I was about 9 or 10, at home with my mom, she says she was so surprised I could sew Barbie clothes, lol. Have sewn my own cloths since my teens, made my wedding dress and a couple of my brides maids dresses. Then I starting sewing for people and making a bit of money. Then had kids and sewed more, lol. Then grand kids! I have slowed down a bit now but after watching Kate I am thinking that if I start now maybe I could make a quilt for each of our 3 kids to have when I am gone. Or each of the 3 grands. Anyways, thank you for the inspiration. Keeping my finger crossed, lol.

I'm sitting here in my sewing room sewing while I listen and peek in at your progress on the bear claw quilt. It's almost like we're having a little sewing bee together. I can't do anything that fancy, but I am making a stack of quilts for some kids here in Mexico who live in a mission. I could buy warm blankets more cheaply, but they've had a rough time of it and don't really own anything. So I figured some colorful quilts might brighten their nights a little bit. Besides, houses here aren't insulated or heated. When it's 47° F/ 9 C outside that's the same temperature it is inside, give or take a degree or two. So you can't have too many blankets in winter. Thanks for letting me hang out on the lime green couch while I work.

Always enjoy watching you quilt, Kate, and happy to see that you don't seem to mind the odd point being nipped off in the stitching. Have been a quilter since the early 80s (a beginner to some) but it always caused me considerable soul searching and heaven only knows how may seam pickers unseaming the pinched points. No matter the quality of fabric, it will always have its own agenda when it's stitched together what with stretching, pressing, cutting. If it's for exhibition I can understand this but if it's a utility quilt - then keeping someone warm is the key. Thank you again. This quilt is looking beautiful. Lovely seeing John and Cat Rita 🙂

A neat and quick way to use up your scraps of biggish pieces of batting and make a frankenbatting is to lay them overlapping by about two inches and then with your rotary cutter cut a slightly wavy line along the two inch overlap. Then you remove carefully without disturbing too much the very edges that are now cut off, and just by magic, the two wadding pieces interlock slightly and have absolutely no gaps or overlaps. You then stitch the two pieces together, either by hand or with a wide zigzag stitch on your machine, hope it makes sense ❤

Kate, your quilt brings me so much joy to see! Thanks for sharing it with us. May I suggest you try the frankenbatting method of joining leftover pieces of batting? It’s named after Frankenstein’s big stitches that he is sewn together with. It’s very simple and fast and eliminates any bunching. It easily quilts whether by hand or machine.
The pool noodle basting method has also made basting so much easier for me. It keeps all the pieces smooth as you baste. There are lots of videos on both methods.

Now I know ehat I am going to do with some Kaffe and other scraps I have. My daughter's bedroom is sour apple green, so I may do a different background. I miss all your other cat girls, especially Norma from the very beginning. I'm sure they are all with Cat Rita in spirit, urging her to lie on the fabric. ❤

Hi Kate, always enjoy visiting with you. A Bear Paw block is one I have always wanted to make. I also sew my batting together . but I use a little zig zag stitch. Hate to waste anything.
    Take care, be well.........Hugs........Barb

This would look splendid on the back of the lime green sofa (using one's imagination of course). Beautiful.

Yikes, there is an "unusual" square!!!! on the edge, green print "paw" w/ red "nails". Makes for very "signature" quilt. GO Kate.!!!!

Love this bear paw quilt, Kate. I need to give this design a try. Looks like a good way to use up some of my scraps too! I have the same chain piece cutter thingy from Amazon. Because it’s wood I colored my flower with some inktense pencils. Looks pretty cute and very functional too!

I machine zigzag my leftover wadding strips, I just hold the strips edge-to-edge making certain that the zigzag overlaps both edges. Works wonderfully and very fast.

It's looking like another scorcher here in East Texas, today. But I've just finished the last of my coffee with you, M'am. What a sweet, quiet time I enjoyed! Thank you! ...and now, I want to make a bear paw quilt!

Watched the video three times and could not see the mistake. I hope you will tell us where it is. Honestly, had something been a bit off, I would have assumed that you wanted it that way. Love watching your videos, all of them. Thank you Anna, John, Martha, Agnes and Emil for all the enjoyment you give.❤❤❤

I'm loving your Bear Paw pink and green project! My 4yr old granddaughter chose pink and green for a quilted pinwheel pillow. She cut and sewed(with a bit of my assistance). I am in the process of finishing it.

I wasn't sure about that green at first, but it turned out beautifully! Loving the Kaffe Fassett on the back (their prints are soooooo pretty!!). That cutting wheel is very cool! I keep my bunting somewhat intact while ironing (I cut it into more manageable sections and iron those in one go, peeling them apart as I run the iron over them, then snip the pieces apart after they're nice and flat).
Also, that design board is amazing! Y need to Google it and see what sizes the panels come in!!

Kate. Watching from St. Louis, Missouri in the states. I found your channel a few months ago and can’t tell you how much I enjoy your channel. You are always an up beat woman and in this day and time we need that. Continued success with your channel I also watch your garden channel also. You seem to soothe the troubles we all seem to have.
