- I so enjoyed rediscovering this old quilt top of my Mum's and planning out how I am going to finish it. My Mum was a prolific quilter, and like me, she always had many quilt projects on the go! Although our style is very different, I am looking forward to seeing how this project develops, and what this last quilt of my Mum's looks like when I am finished with it!

I love this quilt and I want to see it finished.
I was hoping to see you work on this quilt. It is so beautiful.. Hugs to you from Missouri USA, Barbara
This quilt is beautiful
I love the quilt 13:42
I finished an embroidered table cloth my mom started when she was 12 in 1944. It is actually from 3 generations as her aunt drew her the embroidered rose pattern for the blocks and crotchet gorgeous edging and insertion lace. She brought all the pieces with her in 1964 when we came to the US from South America. and I was a baby. It sat in her dresser drawer until I assembled it and finished it in 2005. It is truly a treasured piece and your moms quilt will be the same. Hugs. 😊
Es maravilloso verla amiga por su sencillez, capacidad y elocuencia para explicar, enseñar,

May god’s blessings for ever for your mum she left her diamond daughter Kate in this world thanks mum you are always mum for helping daughter s❤❤❤❤❤
Such a beautiful legacy for your family
Hello, UA-cam friend 💕it’s an early morning here and chilly, with coffee in hand and watching your quilt come together. Absolutely love the relationship with Anna & yourself.❤
Kate, you are like a big hug on a cold day…you have this wonderful way about you that exudes peace and contentment. I quilt, sew, knit and weave and wish I had a friend like you. Keep doing the wonderful videos, they are necessary in this crazy complex world! Blessings! 4:36
Sadie is a beautiful kitty! We rarely get a good look at her. Sweet kitties that you have. 💕
What a joy watching you layer your moms heart quilt with Anna. I love that you are keeping the tradition going & Anna is so happy to learn the process. Your large table comes in handy for sure. My sewing table opens up but not quite like yours & I have to pull my quilts along & move them side to side as I pin & check the back for wrinkles. There’s nothing that makes me as excited as starting a new quilt. We have our spring interrupted w/2 days of cold & rain & I am sewing away. Started a new quilt yesterday for my daughter making squares on point with fabric she selected from Tula Pink, I am doing my daily temperature quilt blocks, bound my color wash quilt (all Kaffe Fasset) I just finished machine quilting inspired by Terry Rowland & hand sewing my hexi quilt at night while watching tv. I finish ev project I start & like you I enjoy having several projects in the works. I am blessed to have found your channel & love ev you do. I also enjoy seeing your sweet cats roam in & out of your scenes. Lastly, tell John I am inspired by the way he rearranged your flying geese quilt & my next one will be wonky with geese flying sideways as I LOVED it so much. 🥰
Love the idea of celebrating a "2 Person Quilt" and it featuring you and your mum, especially with all the wonderful hearts as the center of the "home" (log cabin pattern).... I hope we get to see some of your hand quilting. ❤️❤️
I think it is wonderful that you have something that your mom made. My mom passed away January 2022 from COVID and I have very little of anything of hers. You are such a wonderful daughter to finish what she started.
Use the Liberty fabrics you love for the backing. You might embroider family names or initials on the hearts or maybe use her small buttons as embellishments on the hearts.
Oh how I love this quilt! What great memories for you as you look at all your Mums quilts.
It’s a wonderful reflection of tradition….plus, with Anna’s help today, you had 3 generations of hands working on it. If she did a bit of quilting, too, Agnes, the 4th generation, would have a lovely family heirloom.
It’s lovely to see how each generation does something a little differently. Thanks for a lovely video.
Your mum's quilt top is lovely. It doesn't look like squares until you get up close. Brilliant idea. Take care.
Kate and Anna thanks for the very timely mini tutorial on making a quilt sandwich 🙂
The sound of those scissors was magic 😅😅❤❤❤
What a wonderful idea. Your mum's quilt deserves to be seen. The quilt would look great in a modern or traditional home.
Hi Kay, this is Marion Jay down in Cape Cod and I just wanted to tell you that that’s a beautiful quilt that your mother made and I’m happy to see that you’re finishing it for her. You do a beautiful job and I enjoy all your videos, so keep up the good
This Quilt would be a great "Legacy" quilt to pass down to Agnes. I just love this timeless design & sorry, Kate I do love the pastels & hearts!
What a lovely thing to do. Finish your mother's special quit.
With the binding. I find that winding it on to a greetings card works perfectly for keeping till you're ready to finish. What a nice big table you have there makes life easier. 😍
Oh Kate, what a lovely idea to present your and your mum's quilt at the exibition. I would like to see it personaly (not a chance!😒).
I’m a new subscriber. I live in Botswana, land of the last gentle giants, the African Elephant. The area is known as Chobe full of wildlife and the cats are rather a lot bigger than your fabulous quilt-loving feline friends.. I have loved finding you, by chance, on UA-cam. I watched your long arm quilting of your mums “unfinished sympathies”. Just great!!!
That quilt top of your mom's is stunning.
I love that you are entering this quilt into the Show. I wish i had the opportunity to quilt with my mother. I think working with Anna on your quilts is also very special. Enjoy those times ladies. Best wishes from Australia
I also love brighter colors, and I love and respect the traditional. Your Mum's quilt is lovely, beautiful and striking. Looking forward to see how you make it Yours and Your Mum's. Florida, USA
Just realised that I haven’t followed you for a few months. I miss you reacting with your lovely late cat, taking the duck for a swim, going round the garden pointing out what you are up to, driving about along the A69, something I used to do. I know it’s winter, the weather awful, BUT!
I love the sound of scissors cutting on a wood table.
I've only been a subscriber for the last few months, but I so enjoy watching and listening to you, while I knit usually. Entering your Mom's quilt, which you finish, in a Two Person category, in a quilt show is the best idea. I also make quilts, Art Quilts mostly, before this year. Now I've begun making quilts to give to others through my Quilt Guild's Service Projects. Some go to children that are removed from their home to enter Foster Care, others go to a Women's Shelter and still others go to the VA. Many are made from scraps. I, like you Kate, prefer bright colors. I also envy you going forward with all the different crafts you do. I have grand ideas to dye yarn, but haven't actually done it. There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. Hello, from central Minnesota, USA.
That little guy is adorable! Congratulations!
Beautiful quilt top. Hope you enjoy quilting the quilt as much as your voice and eyes expressed in video.
I adore this quilt Kate. The little flowers make me think of Little House on the Prairie. My favourite show as a little girl.🌼🌼💗🌼🌼
Your moms heart quilt is beautifully coloured
Lovely quilt using heart shaped designs Gorgeous Definitely an heirloom
I happen to love the colors of this heart quilt that your mum pieced! So many interesting small scale fabric designs as well. The backing and binding fabric you chose will compliment the top perfectly❤️
Hand quilting this beauty will be a wonderful tribute as a mother/daughter quilt! 👏🏻🙏🏻
Aw, how pretty! Just a perfect project for you around Valentine's Day. Best of luck with the contest!
Hi Kate and Anna, I like the quilt pattern and most of the fabrics. I would have chosen a different color scheme. I also like really bright colors. Anna you look very pretty in your green cardigan. That is a very good shade of green on you. I love seeing you two working together. I think that outlining the hearts and maybe some straight lines around the log cabin blocks would look nice for the quilting.
Love that quilt. Those hearts in their log cabins really speak to me. So pretty… thanks😊 for sharing, Kate, and looking forward to seeing how you quilt it. ❤️🇦🇺
Love your Mum’s quilt - the way the blocks are an offset colour watch. The quilt does not need a border. Hello to everyone else on the LGS.
How joyful to be finishing your Moms legacy, and passing along your skills to Anna, must feel like you’re all there together. I really liked that bit and how you share that with us.
It's a beautiful quilt Kate and I really love your mum's choice of colours.
lovely quilt! I’ll be interested to see how you stitch this quilt! thanks Kate and Anna!🦌💌❤️🪡🙏
I love that quilt I think I will make one for my great granddaughter
Seeing all those beautiful quilts stacked like that and ready to go to their new homes makes me want to cry! Your mom is so happy and proud! ❤️
Kate, wow, you filled my evening with a boat load of memories! My Gran, my mom and I were quilters. When gran passed and we’re cleaning out the apartment we found a wadded up quilt top on a closet shelf of a top gran bought at her local craft store. It was a king sized top in pieces and she had completed about half before she balled up the pieces and threw it on the shelf in that closet. 😅 We discovered that the cross-stitch pattern was printed completely wrong , backwards and upside down . Mom thought about it for a week or two, glued two mirrors together and finished the beautiful roses on the panel. I do believe she was cross eyed for awhile after. Lol I pieced the border , sewed it on and quilted it but have not finished the binding. Your beautiful story has made me realize I need to get my butt in gear. Btw , gran, mom and I called ourselves the “3GenQltrs” keep on quilting Kate, you bring joy to so many❤
I love love love this heart quilt❤❤❤
Your Mum’s quilt is gorgeous! ❤
A very sweet memorial to your Mom.
Thank you for this video Kate. It came at the perfect time. My mom passed away in November and I have just spent the last week packing up her sewing room. Before she passed she shared with me that the quilt that she was in the process of making was for me. It is a beautiful fan quilt top with sandwich done, but not yet quilted. I do lots of crafts but am a very novice quilter and only know how to quilt by hand. She had so many lovely quilts that were anywhere from fabrics selected to practically finished. I guess I will get lots of practice before I'm ready to finish the one she started. Thank you very much for all you do!
I have lately been drawn to that large stitch quilting with pearl cotton. Would look lovely with that ❤️. I am sure whatever you do, it will be lovely. 🥰
i really love your mum's heart quilt, am so glad that both you and Anna are working on it, am impressed that Anna is picking up this quilting lark so quickly. Can't wait to see it finished, hoping that you will keep this one
Kate, what a lovely quilt top. I know you will make a beautiful job of hand quilting it. I am the only quilter in my family, so I will have to make sure I don't leave any unfinished quilts. Thank you for sharing.
So nice to have someone with care to finish the pretty quilts
Kate what a great idea - shared quilt and what a beautiful quilt it will be when finished. Must thank you.....I have been quilting for 15 years but still class myself as a novice and I learnt from you pin from middle to edge. Why did I not know this. What a joy Anna is for you.
A lovely project. Love idea of entering it in a two person quilt category! Thanks for sharing. ❤️💙💚💜
This quilt tip is gorgeous! I love the fabrics and the design. I love traditional quilts.
I WANNA BE A FLY IN THE HOUSE and learn everything!
Agnes is my mum's name. So lovely to hear someone say it.
What a beautiful quilt. I think I'd put a large heart on the back. I think I'd name it something like Mother & Daughter quilt. Hearts joined forever!
Lovely video podcast…I envy you with a quilt top by your mother…wishing you well and happy quilting ❤
Love your idea of entering this quilt...you & your "Mum"
It's so lovely you can finish this quilt. I had wondered where it had got to.
It's nice to see you back Kate.
It's a beautiful quilt and I am sure your mom is smiling down on you as you put the finishing touches on it. i do also like the colors of it.
A pinning tip I just remembered, learned during the years of cloth nappies 😁💜. Run the safety pin through your hair before pinning and it will slide in through the fabric more easily. And... I often use nappy pins for pinning quilts 😅
I love your Mum's quilt!
Oh, how I envy you your big table! My husband has to pin my quilts on the floor for me. He is a good soul!
Your mum was so lucky to have a quilter for a daughter, so her quilts can be finished and kept in the family. ❤ Susan from Va, USA
Hello Kate
What a lovely quilt
I think the next quilt I make I'm going to have a go at pining it all together I have always done a running stitch which always end up on the machine stitchingand so hard to remove.
Are you using safety pins or are they a special pin just for quilting?
@@mandywhitewood8497 With running stitch (for basting stitches) use long stitches. Makes it much easier to remove
Mindy, the pins are curved safety pins that can be found at quilt shops. They are about an inch long. They can be difficult to close, so, of course, there's a tool for that (or you can use the bowl of a teaspoon instead!).
@@greenquiltsgalore1326 thank you I'm going to try longer stitches first if that still doesn't work for me I'll be of to my local quilting shop
That is beautiful. I’m so glad you will keep on giving it love. ❤
I haven't read all the other comments...but...I LOVE your sense of bright & bold...and I love your beautiful thought of you & your Mum collaborating on her traditional rendition of her log cabin. I was wondering if you would think about you doing your OWN version of log cabin for the back? Something of the generations of interpretation? Just an idea. What I wouldn't give to have something of my Aunt's (who shared her love of quilting with me) to finish up and combine our two different styles. No matter what you decide....I KNOW it will be FUN & GRAND! Thanks so much for sharing
I adore the sound when you smooth out the top layer…. Very comforting
What a lovely quilt am so pleased it will be finished which reflects you both❤
I LOVE your mothers Heart quilt top! I also like bright fabrics but I do love traditional milder colors. I cant wait to see the finished quilt. 😊💜
What a lovely quilt - a beautiful family heirloom!
What a beautiful tribute to your mother - to lovingly collaborate with her on this quilt top and finish it as she had planned long ago. Kate, you are a living transition, passing knowledge and skills on to the next two generations at this point in time. Anna is already there to grab onto the sewing needle baton; Agnes will be right behind her. Hmmm, I wonder if these generational quilts are something of a fabric TARDIS?
Love your technical 'smooshing' terminology 🤣
Hi beautiful ladies! So nice spending the weekend watching your video. I've been quilting for years and I use a grapefruit spoon to close the pins!! It saves your fingers a bit. Can't wait to see mum's quilt done. Thanks for being you and yah know I love yah 😘 ❤️.
Love and peace to everyone everywhere 💕
Love that this heart quilt your mom began will be finished by you.
❤❤❤ one ❤ for your mom, you and Anna
Beautiful quilt, it’s so pretty. Makes me think of my Sarah Kaye, Hollie Hobby childhood. How lovely to be completing this for your Mum. Such a wonderful family legacy.
Thank you for taking us on this quilting journey in memory of your Dear Mother, Kate. I’ve enjoyed every videos…including your cute cats showing up for a petting! Awww Precious! ❤
Mum's quilt is a pretty thing. I look forward to seeing how you quilt it.
Your mum’s quilt is absolutely beautiful and they are definitely my colours, so looking forward to see how you quilt it ❤
It's a lovely quilt with beautiful memories attached 💕
I'm from Réunion Island and I'm a fan of your créations and style 😁👍
Hello Kate ,I like very much your mum's quilt with lovely hearts. You know what?I am improving my listening comprehension just by listening to you speaking ,explaining what you are doing and are going to do; it's just like a nice musique in my ears. Thanks to you I am improving my English just by listening to you and you have a good English and articulate very well.Thank you for helping me.
Fetta from Algeria.
Absolutely beautiful. You have some lovely heirlooms.
I know your mom must be smiling.🙏
I think if your Mum could see this pinning she’d be very happy 💓🌸💓
This is really lovely, that you could finish your Mum's quilt. It's beautiful too! I'm glad you were able to finish it for her. Little Sadie is a very beautiful little cat! Near the end of the video, I noticed her sitting on the window sill outside, waiting to be let in. I kept hoping that you would let her in, and you obviously did at some point, but I didn't see it.. I hope it wasn't raining out there!
I love that idea of a 2 person quilt & entering the competiton ! Great idea =)
I love the way the colors move through this quilt like with the diagonal stripes of dark and light along with how all the hearts on those diagonals are the same color and same orientation so cool! If you had interest I think it’d be really cool to see a similar style in your colors 💖
Said it before....So glad Anna is learning & carrying on this art!
I love the relationship that Kate and Anna have, it's just precious.
I thought she may have cut the cut the back to do ttspunto. I am a fairly new subscriber and love your chats and are working on the red cushion from your shop. Rebekah Heath, Louisville, Kentucky
Amen so sweet
I think the colors are very rich and the hearts are adorable!! 💞
buttonhole stitch is always beautiful around a heart. But is quite traditional.
I absolutely love this quilt. Love anything with hearts.
When I took my first quilting lesson at a quilting store I was shown how to cut out the back when doing applique. I've often wondered why I never saw it being done on U tube.
💖💕❤💝
An absolutely brilliant idea!!! I’m sure your mum would be so pleased 💕
