- A Sunseeker 52 Manhattan yacht catches on fire and the boat starts to sink at Haulover! The fire was put out immediately, most likely by the yacht's fire suppression system.
The yacht began taking on water and rescue boats arrived to start the rescue and recovery right away. Everyone was taken off the boat by Sunny Isles Police and taken safely back to shore.

Great footage, great job from everyone saving it. Insurance company will be happy to see this video.
Glad everyone was safe. Fantastic footage.... and thank you to whomever edited the video for not adding a bunch of annoying background music.
Its up for sale on a local Miami brokerage. They must of got it back to dock, made some repairs and cleaned it up... buyer beware.. These are typically $2m yachts. This one is marked down to $1.4m.
do u have the link for it?
Do we know why it was taking on water??
No way will someone pay 1.4 mill! There is salt water all through the bildge under flooring on lower deck! Plus engines may of taken in water! Yes you can fix it BUT people spending 1.4 million are no fools! I'd say 800k is it's worth if they can even sell it! They may end up giving it away for maybe 400k if there lucky to get a buyer! Even 400k is a lot of risk! And engine fails rust will cost more than 400k! It's toast! Happy sailing all and God bless all 🛥⚓❤🙏
@@mareewalker1096 bro if you are able to buy that boat for somehow 400k u would replace the engines and any of the risks even if its sold for 1.4 u can replace engines etc
The phrase is must have , not must of. Is English your second language?
Great job on the S.O.S. the wave runner following the police boat back in was great. 👍🇺🇸
First responders deserve the highest praise.
How does a small, extinguished fire cause a hull to start taking on water? Something has to either breach the hull or open a seacock for that to happen?
perhaps the fire, assuming it was in the engine compartment, ruptured an exhaust or cooling line that was open to sea.
Hoses
ZipZap started the inlet videos, now takes it to the next level with the drones
thanks Brian. our boy on the drone is killer, so lucky to have him for the last few years!
Never understood the name Zip Zap Power for a boat channel, but nice videos.
Awesome coverage of the rescue!
This is a great commercial for Sunseeker Yachts.
Great job everyone, glad everyone was ok and accounted for!
Doesn’t look like it’s sinking, looks like they’ve lowered the stern swim/dive platform.
Agree
I'm far from a boat guy and I thought that too, that some of the nicer boats have a swim platform that can be lowered and raised. Also to launch the dingy which this boat seemed to have too. Might have been a fire since there was smoke and it disabled the boat.
Yeah, If you look at 6:30 the waterline paint is pretty even front to back
They lowered the platform so they can get to dinghy in the water
That boat is not sinking. They’ve simply lowered the hydraulic swim platform at the rear. It’s virtually impossible for such a small fire such as this to sink a current model Sunseeker
Great job documenting all the cool calm and collected individuals with a drone while the mighty boat sinks
Hello Jake from State Farm? yeah I got a claim bro!
How unfortunate, I guess an engine fire melted the Hull. I hope the insurance was up to date
Those guys are all pros.
so what's left of the boat?
Why did it take on water? Did the hoses melt from the seawater intakes etc?
Not sinking at all, swim platform lowered to launch tender!
🎶 a three minute cruise!.🎶
lol, that is about all it was.
So what happened What was your battery level on drone
I hope everyone was safe!!! Do they know what happened with this yacht? I thought there was some smoke on the starboard side. There were those two-guest looking on that side!!!! Wow!!! everyone was I take it was with the police boats!!!
If it was my boat I would’ve had the passengers board the surrounding many boats with a sense of urgency while the tow boat rig a line already. But hey, hopefully they have insurance.
Did they tow it to a dock or just let it sink? Looks like they were pretty close to shore.
relatively modern boat too. Are the standards for licences quite stringent or can any Tom, Dick or Harry buy a boat and take it out without fully understanding the systems onboard and how to deal with issues when they dont go to plan.
You wouldn't need a captain for a boat that size. USCG 6 pack/Near coastal licenses are pretty tough to get, I just got my 100 ton and its not something Joe Schmoe who's never been on a boat before would be able to do. In this case, it looks like they had a captain (maybe? guy in the white shirt who stayed aboard) and he seemed to be pretty competent, he got everyone off first then started helping the towboat guys.
You can go rent a sailboat for a week in the Virgin Islands and have no earthly idea what you are doing. Credit card captains. I am not sure if you can get away with that here but there are certainly people with enough means to purchase this type of boat and have no boating experience whatsoever. I doubt it would be insurable but that never stopped stupid before.
Why arent they running the bilge pumps?
How many people were on that yacht?
Great drone footage. How far were you from drone
Pilot said he was about 3,000 feet away
They’ll go a mile no problem, but be careful of the FAA regs.
did 2 of those rescued passengers seriously flip the drone off?
Life Jackets and where is the tow line? Surely should have been quickly hauled in, perhaps has.
Shame, nice looking boat. Thanks for the film footage
Holy calm waters......
Forgive me for sounding like a peasant, but does something this new come with a warranty? I feel like this yacht is too new to be having issues. And I realize that it’s a boat and all boats have problems regardless of age, but still.
Was the green boat offloading fuel?
Pumping water out
Just had a million dollar plus yacht sink in the Miami River, me thinks the PPE loan payments are coming due.
Absolutely. Up north it’s when the winter storage comes due.
7:47 "I flipped off a drone. I also tell my Roomba that it sucks."
Were those kids on the cruiser leaving the inlet not wearing life jackets?
You would think the rescue boats would have some gas powered pumps too keep the yacht from sinking so it could be pulled too dry dock.
they do, priority is to get everyone off then save the boat, it was towed back in later that day.
Note the large hose coming out of the engine bay of the yacht, over to the green boat(starboard side) & then into the water next to its engines...causing that brackish water you can see being pumped out(3:36)
Didn't look seaworthy to begin with on first glimpse, kinda' top heavy, and I don't know boats or yachts. Glad it got saved from sinking.
So strange. Nobody tried boarding the police boat over the rail and head first… I thought that’s how it’s done.
Outstanding job
Did the dude flick off the drone? Lol
I could imagine, you have a 2 million dollar boat sinking, and someone is flying a drone around to capture your misery. I can see where tensions from the owner (and crew) are pretty high, I would be irritated too. But hey, they are always around Haulover so what do you expect? Just stay away from my boat ramp\inlet :)
No life preservers for the crew?
looks like there were not enough, based on the number of people without when getting on the police boat.
Must have forgot to put the plug in!
why would it start sinking?
water got inside of it, this causes the boat to then sink
@@tektkite7255 Sarcasm aside ... how did the water get in, was it the propshaft seals/bearings failure or what?
@@crazyfroggie6546 it is impossible to say. I think there was another video where there was smoke coming from the vessel, but fires usually dont breach the hull. The boat does not seem to have a catastrophic leak because it is sinking very slowly and it was refloated by pumping water out.
it could be many things, a small hull crack from hitting a structure or a water intake that broke. It could be as simple as a sea water cooled engine manifold had a break in its sea water supply.
@@tektkite7255 i only asked because it was listing badly at the stern, the bathing platform was underwater, so the water was right at the back then.
@@crazyfroggie6546 it would not matter where the water came in. the water will level within the boat regardless where the leak is. big ships will have compartments that contain leaks but sports boats do not. the bilge will run front to back. most boats sit bow up so the stern will sink first
It doesn’t look like it’s sinking at all; they’ve just put the hydraulic platform down in order to launch the tender.
look at 04:12, the yacht is listing and you can see the pump hoses across the stern and deck running from the green recovery boat.
@@ZipZapPowerYes, but the list could also be caused by the 6 or 7 people on the port side disembarking the vessel.
To be honest the first tow boat didn't do anything but get there.
not sinking, lowered the swim platform into the water to deploy the dingy. Probably just an engine failure.
A band on ship I couldn't hear any music
Insuuuuuuure😂
That's a small yacht
LOL the boat is not sinking that rear deck lowers into the water to allow the tinder to be launched.
Yes, the deck lowers, and yes, they did lower it to launch the dingy, but the boat was taking on water and would have eventually sunk if not for the towing team there.
SOP for a sinking vessel is that all people are rescued first, and then operations to rescue or salvage the boat can begin if at all possible.
Couldn't they like call a big boat and pull it haha
Its all party party party until the yacht sinks
🤣🤣🤣
The click bait had me wondering if the Drain Plug Mafia struck again. Just a fire definitely not D.P.F. related!
That's not a yacht. It's a glorified motor boat.
Red boat was lame and no help and a bad driver. Green boat wins.
Looks completely staged. Too many perfect shots with drones and boats coming in and out. Looked like a training exercise to me.
Boring. It never sunk.
From the looks of the women, the combined silicone they have could have floated the yacht for years.
