      i refuse to believe Paul played bass on Oh! Darling. the playing is sloppy with a bunch of mistakes, both the A and D string are way out of tune (Hofner is usually a little flat on the E string but otherwise reasonably well tuned) and the rhythmic patterns remind me of when John played bass on Helter Skelter. my vote is for the Fender VI that had been sitting around a while.

      @@jewjitsu72 They had 2 Fender Jazz Basses....a righty & lefty. There are a couple of pics of George with the righty. I'm thinking it's George with that bass. Of course it's overdriven, but whenever you hear a "clean" note it has a bit more on the low end than the Bass VI did. It sounds like a standard, thicker bass string to my ear.

    • @user-ps4hw4rh5v
      @user-ps4hw4rh5v 2 роки тому +10

      it's really difficult to tell which bass is which because mccartney just sounds like mccartney. some are clearly identifiable as rickenbacker by listening, the tone being unmistakable...but others are not so easy and there really is no definitive information on the subject. depending on the recording techniques, DI vs mic'd cab, amount of compression used, pick or fingers, george playing vs paul, which pickup and eq settings are being used...there are so many different ways that each of these basses can produce tones, there is bound to be a lot of crossover where one sounds like the other, etc, etc....especially with the same person playing them in the same style with the same attack.
