Freaking Ringo knowing EXACTLY what to play and when to play it to emphasize and accentuate what the band and song were doing. Love how you can hear him always using the crash for when there are group vocal harmonies in Taxman, here
RIGHT???????? Tomorrow Never Knows is my all time favorite Beatles track... but his drumming on THAT SONG... is otherworldly. So many muscians talk about other drummers as gods... but they TOTALLY skip past Ringo Starr and I don't know why. And when I listen to TNK... it's like listening to Indian Flavored Hip-Hop!
The greatest rhytym section of all time. Everything is awesome here. But Ringo on She Said! So tight and swingin'! All of Paul's bass pats are beyond amazing to me. Oh, and I can finally say "Tomorrow Never Knows" is NOT a tape loop.
Ringo's drumming on "Tomorrow Never Knows" is NOT a tape loop. Listen closely…you’ll hear _slight_ variations in his drumming. The first take, "Mach I," did feature a tape loop, to which Ringo drummed. The only tape loops in the final version are those of the “seagulls” (not really seagulls) and such, provided by Paul, and interspersed throughout the track.
I've been looking forward to this. I can't listen to the Beatles normally while I work because I get distracted singing to the songs, but this allows me to keep jamming while writing. Thank you for the high-quality bass and drums.
I have a similar issue. I can’t focus on high-detail tasks with music playing-especially if it’s my favorite band, The Beatles-because I naturally tend to focus on what the instruments are doing. (More so _instruments_ than vocals.)
Finally!!! Someone who knows that Paul played the bass on She Said and that George played the bass on Good Day Sunshine. This information is so readily available, yet so many people think otherwise. Many people believe Paul wasn't even on the recording at all.
@@JustSeby That “Paul Is Dead” stuff is just silly! Paul’s brain never died. It was preserved in a jar after the late-1966 car crash/decapitation, and continued to write hit songs for The Beatles, and later, “Paul McCartney” (wink wink!) and Wings. btw, brain-jar Paul (AKA “Braul”) vehemently denies having had _anything_ to do with the writing of “Silly Love Songs,” an embarrassment penned by _Billy,_ Paul’s lookalike.
Thanks so much for being a *purist* when it comes to audio isolation. So many _alleged_ Beatles fans just can’t resist the urge to *TAMPER* with their isolations by needlessly adding their own digital reverb, digital delay, digital chorusing, etc.! Presumably, they misguidedly assume they’re “improving” things as they “play God” with the original recordings. Unneeded. Unwanted. Rather than contaminating the original recordings with unwarranted digital silliness, you did it the RIGHT way! ( And to those who will say, “But isn’t the isolation _itself_ a form of ‘tampering?’”, I say: you have 100% missed the point! Please… _back away from the audio software!_ lol)
Wow. I’ve been playing that song for decades on bass and never got that 1/32 note ‘pickup’ in there. Genius; a significant component of how the song retains its urgency. Awesome to find out its existence; will begin incorporating it.
Weirdly, just read that George might have played bass on She Said She Said. Paul apparently left the studio in a bit of a huff so they finished the recording without him.
@@Wahbull Yeah, people said that for a while. More recently, I’m reading that people think it was Paul after all. (But what do _I_ know? For years I thought that Paul played bass on “Two Of Us,” only to learn [movie footage?] later that it was George playing “bass” on a guitar!)
All this album version with drums and bass are super great, can't wait for the rest. Please make a serie of vocals, drums and bass version from each album, great work!
I was always under the impression that it's George playing bass on "She Said She Said," not "Good Day Sunshine." There was some minor spat in the studio, and Paul walked out for the day. I think it's the only one of their songs Paul doesn't play on.
I very nearly put them in, but decided against it since they're not part of the album technically : could release them as a single though if you'd like! Otherwise it'll wait till Past Masters
@RBStems2 As a drummer, I really appreciate and enjoy the videos, Rain is a very complex drum part ,and Paperback writer is no cake walk either, so it would be awesome if you put those two up. Thanks for your hard work! Peace, - Mike
This is next level pop music played by absolute masters. It's great to hear how the Great Ones laid down the foundation to one of the greatest albums of all-time. Thanks for posting.
thank you so much for taking the time to do these. Its so strange to know every millisecond of these songs, but feel like I am also hearing them for the first time, a warped deja vu. do you want to do other bands?
Who is playing bass on She Said She Said? The story goes that Paul stormed out of the session and did not appear on it. It is a very simple bass line with little harmony in it - very untypical of Paul. Probably George playing along to John's rhythm guitar.
Paul has been confirmed to play it, but he did run out after laying down the bass track, and that's why there's no vocals of Paul. You can hear him talk on one of the outtakes on the Revolver box set.
If it is Paul then it only makes sense to me as quick guide bass track. But I am not sure there is much precedent for Paul doing such simplistic guide tracks.@@rbstems2
Paul's not playing the bass part on She Said. It's always been in contention, but isolated, the bass is rudimentary at best with none of the spontaneous synchronization, note subdivion, and ahead of the beat feel that Macca displays abundantly in the other tracks. It's George or John.
That IS what people were saying for a while. More recently, however, people are backpedaling and saying it _was_ Paul after all. I’m too lazy to search for videos atm, but I know I’ve seen at least ONE video on UA-cam on the subject.
@@ahcapella I'm not referencing anyone else and previous speculation is a lot weaker now we have this isolated bass part. In the case of skilled players (which Mac certainly is), the "fingerprints" of their playing are obvious. Whoever played this bass line has none of McCartney's nuanced confidence. They drag time and literally plod through it.
Freaking Ringo knowing EXACTLY what to play and when to play it to emphasize and accentuate what the band and song were doing. Love how you can hear him always using the crash for when there are group vocal harmonies in Taxman, here
The best rhythm section ever.
The moment we've all been waiting for
I love that you include the faces drawn on of the personnel involved in percussion and clapping!
Listening to the drum tracks isolated with the bass, Ringo is a friggin drum god! So many people put him down, but he laid some amazing drum riffs.
Damn Ringo was such a hip-hop drummer progenitor in a way. Especially that tape loop shit on tomorrow never knows

These are great for working/studying because they are lowkey and the vocals aren't there to distract.

Always loved the drum beat in Tomorrow Never Knows.

George actually tuned a guitar down an octave on that track.

Bass drums + percussion
Nice
I realized hearing this mix: Taxman really does need more cowbell.
You can't hear it as much in my mix, because I couldn't completely isolate the cowbell without some heavy bleed from the guitars, so that's on me.
Lol no worries at first I thought I was just remembering it wrong.

I doubt there are many bands whose music would survive being picked apart in this way. For a lot of these tracks, I just kept thinking “sick grooves!”
The Police would.
I wonder who’s idea it was to put tea-towels on Ringo’s drums
Tomorrow Never Knows is an electronic dnb song disguised as Psychedelic Rock
You should see Sean Lennon playing it with Les Claypool and his flying frog brigade!
I saw it live and it freaking blew me away!
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr ahead of their time.

was that a false note at 3.16 . strange they did not fix that bass mistake.
