Fr tho like it silly to make people pay for something the camera is capable of doing. I could see if it was a enhancement but its not so its just messed up
@@Grown_Bna cuz imagine paying something like 700-1K dollars for a canon camera, with that price canon should atleast give you access to stream 1080p. I get the 5 cameras thing, yes that’s ok to pay for but compromising the quality is a bad thing. At the end of the day then it’s better to get a 4k camlink or something which is a one off payment
It's complicated, but worth it. Once you overcome the latency issues, the videocall quality is FANTASTIC. I coach via Skype and my clients often comment how nice and clear the video quality is.
@@bigstef02 Yes it basically forced you to enter your CC info and then only your subscription gets activated, without that the App doesn't show your video feed. With due respect, this is the biggest piece of worthless shit from Canon. After getting a 5000 USD camera, now I have to pay a subscription to be able to use it for a Zoom meeting.
Wow, I had no idea they charge a monthly or annual fee for this feature that should just be built in. Seems like it would make more sense to get a capture card and pay a one time fee. Or is there some benefit to using this versus something like the Elgato Cam Link 4K External Camera Capture Card? I currently run an e-commerce store and am a blogger, and am in the process of starting up a youtube channel, so I am in my early research of everything I need. That is what brought me to this channel. It was very informative, but shocking that Canon charges for this software. For my product photography, I have been using a Canon T7i, so that is what I will be starting with for my youtube videos.
Great video - thanks Omar and the team at Think! Question - is there a way of doing the same but if you're in the UK? When signing up you need to have a US address on the Canon site. It would be great if anyone knows about a solution for this.
for streaming on twitch, im having an issue connecting to my home Wi-Fi to access internet to stream. Eos webcam utility has to be connected to my camera (m50 ii) through the cameras Wi-Fi in order to use as webcam. How can i connect my camera to Eos utility without connecting to my cameras Wi-Fi so i can access my home internet to stream? im currently trying to stream on twitch.
i have the rebel t6 and i went through all the steps but its still not showing in obs. does it need to be connected directly to my macbook or should it work on the usb hub?
What about the 5D MKII?! Can't seem to find any way to use it as a webcam. Seems like Canon just said, "FK the MKII" and stopped making any files for it. Any help would be appreciated.... thanks.
I'm having issues with my Canon G7X Mark II some videos say it has webcam ability but another video says it doesn't. I did see the dl option for MIII on Canon website. Any chance you can confirm and give options?
hi! I have problem with connecting R10 as webcam, I tried M50 and it has no problems, R10 is blinking screen - black screen with computer logo vs. what i see through lens - cant stay on lens screen, the red busy light is blinking as well... i tried usbc cable and also usbc/usbc cable, dont have hdmi so i hope there is something in settings or something like that

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE that Canon puts subscription model on this. How Adobe of them. What's next? Encrypt raw files unless I pony up $0.05 a shot on my VISA card? It's 2023. And if you'd rather have people use your camera/s to stream, over other brands or a smartphone they can use (for no additional cost), this is NOT the way to do it.
Hello Good day @thinkmedia. Thank you fir this wonderful enlightment. Does the video still display on the camera scree when you are connected to the pc for livestreaminng ? Thank you in advance
The EOS Webcam Utility "Pro" (Version 2.0.30 on Mac) does not recognize my brand new R8. Reading through the comments below, it seems like the majority of users cannot get this piece of "Pro" software to work. Canon really needs to work out the bugs in the software. In the meantime, directly selecting "Canon Digital Camera" in Zoom seems to work. The video titled "Canon R8 - Streaming and WebCam Set-up Tutorial Using Macbook Pro" by Jason Hermann details this method. By using a mic plugged into the camera itself, there are also no audio/video lags. Cheers.
i have canon 2000d and i dno how to connect it to m y pc because the 3 holes in the side are weird and ive never seen the shapes so i dont know what to use to connect it
When you connect the Camera to the computer, are you using the mini HDMI port (Out) to a capture card (in) via USB into the computer? I have a t6i. I can't seem to get the Canon Webcan software to recognize the camera when it's plugged in . (mini HDMI to capture card)... I am trying to use the webcam software because when i connect the t6i to the capture card, it seems i cannot leave autofocus on because it puts the little box on the screen, and i cant figure out how to turn it off. I was hoping the webcam app would have a fix for this.....
Unfortunately this is US only. It cannot be used in Europe. I have tried to use my RP with an HDMI capture unit and i have serious issues in Descript with audio/video sync. Any suggestions ?
Does this mean that there is no longer any need for a video capture card, like the Elgato? And that any micro usb to usb c cable will give a clean hdmi out?
i am using it right now, and if you dont care about the video quality, go for it, but I am noticing that the quality is dogshit for streaming purposes, plus they make you pay a fee of $5 per mo to use the 1080p quality now...@@HolisticHealthEducation
I live in Canada and when I try to sign up for a subscription it will not allow me to pay because I cannot choose a State in the billing address drop down menu, Canadian provinces are not listed and therefor will not allow me to continue to payment. I was really hoping I could use my EOS R as a webcam for streaming on Twitch through OBS studio but because I am not allowed to pay for a subscription to the EOS webcam utility pro software I simply can not use it. This is extremely frustrating and I can not find a single mention of this issues anywhere online. Am I seriously the only Canadian trying to use there Canon camera for a webcam and having this issue? This really makes no sense to me. If there is any answer to this problem it would be greatly appreciated!
I have a Canon R8 and don't see this software bringing anything to the table beside a paywall. I use my R8 on all my web apps without the EOS Webcam Utility Pro. It works fantastic on all my Teams and Zoom calls without it. Just make sure you put the camera in USB mode and it will autodetect in windows and MacOS
Yeah, and with lower end cameras you still have to pay because there are no "clean HDMI" output and you have to turn AF off to get rid of the focus box on your video. WTF, Canon?
You covered basically all the stuff I was looking for. You even covered what lenses you would recommend as soon as I was about to try and figure it out myself. Awesome video :)
I followed these steps to the letter with my Canon R5 and it did not work! I watched one or two other videos to check myself and i was still left dumbfounded because the canon software wouldn’t recognize my R5. I ended up cancelling my subscription and ordering a cam link 4K i hope that works. The canon software was not user friendly nor did it offer any immediate troubleshooting measures. So disappointed in them.
The EOS Webcam Utility app requires you to usb a USB cable for your camera. You can use an HDMI cable with some sort of capture card or interface but only if your camera is capable of outputting a "clean hdmi" signal, otherwise you'd see the menu items and buttons from your camera on your live feed. I'd recommend any option that doesn't include paying a monthly fee to use your camera you already bought.

@hibhaven that's the conclusion I made it to unfortunately
Start the streaming software program before turning on cam and make sure it is set to video mode
