I have cannon g7x mark ii, it doesn't work for mine
I have a Canon EOS 1100d wish it worked
I have a Canon 650D. Known as the Rebel T4i in America. All the Ti's on the site and no T4i. Go figure . Come on Canon.
I have Canon EOS 1200D! Hoping to upgrade in the future 😊
T6i, M50, SX60HS
I was experiencing quite major delay/lag while using EOS webcam on zoom but fixed it by changing the shutter speed to match the FPS so changed it from 1/50 down to 1/25 to match the FPS. Hope that helps anyone experiencing the same issue!
I'm having the same problem but with recording a video through the camera
Everyone: I don't have a Canon camera laying around 😭
ME: I don't have a USB cable laying around to connect my camera to the laptop 😭😭
This is me lol. How tf- all of these charging cables and none of them fit-! I got a capture card and I have two HDMI cables- useless
@@alwaysyouramanda I feel your pain
Same 😂
Me too🙃
My camcorder display on the laptop but refuse to display camera screen
Think Media: “You can stand out in a zoom meeting”
Me: I don’t want to stand out
Lol, why not? Just a bit more with a very expensive camera, you have laying around
😂😂
Lol meee toooo
its really a helpful video for dslr user . thanks for shearing
I was very pleased with how well this worked on my Canon T6i, and I appreciated so much that Canon basically gave my camera great new functionality that, in effect, saved me from considering a new camera instead. (And as a result, when I do upgrade my camera, it will definitely be another Canon.) But I seldom actually use the setup that way -- it causes the camera to make a loud CLUNK when the shutter opens and closes, and I can't help thinking it is not a great idea for the longevity of the camera's CCD (maybe I'm wrong) to have it exposed to light for long periods like that. If I need something better than a webcam, I use a Panasonic Vixia camcorder with clean HDMI output to OBS. The truth is, I don't need to have every pore, imperfection and whisker of my face perfectly captured in full HD. But thanks, Canon!
Major props to you for making this video. You're awesome!
I have the Canon 80D and I'm planning on using it to stream on Twitch.
Been using the eos webcam utility for my live proctored exams for my college courses. Game changer for sure!
I’m looking to expand into live streaming here soon so I’m looking for a good external mic and better lens
Wow this is amazing! I have my old canon 700D that I hardly use anymore as I switched to a mirrorless model so now I can use it as a webcam! Thanks for the video :)
I’m saving this one for sure! Christmas gift to myself lined up!
Love it when you make a video that I needed to see but didn’t know it. Brilliant video as always!
Followed this so I could zoom call my son to help him with his algebra and it works like a charm. I can manually lock the focus on my cannon where the regular webcam kept trying to focus and would get all blurry trying to focus on my whiteboard. Glad I searched UA-cam before buying a capture card.
Great camera. Looks professional 👌
Great Video Guys! love it! using your camera as a webcam makes a massive difference!
I'm still struggling of having a nice Camera.
@@TinyKideo start with a phone man! once you start to make some money from it then re-invest!
I still remember the first camera I brought a MINO HD (shoutout to anyone that remembers them!)
Legit the one that you had to plug the USB straight into something for playback haha!
@@OlleyThorpe Thanks for your advice man! I will try that though I am using Techno Camon 11 😃😃 but not bad to start with cheers bro!!
thank you so much! this is way better and easier than any other options without a camlink
Always really helpful for fresh starting youtubers. Thanks Think Media!
For those, who wonder: It also does work for cameras that are not in that list (at least on mac). I've tried the 550D and it worked fine.
Which model did you select in the website?
@@AnkitTiwari-ld3zc I didn't select any model in the website, but used the download button on the main side. At least at the german side there is one.
But I guess you can try out different models and see, what works with your camera.
I wish I had a canon camera laying around my house 🤣🤣🤣
✅👉
Lol
I have a 5D mark Iii. Way to big and heavy to use as a web cam. I also have my 90D that is my main camera I shoot with now. Still a bit to big and bulky. I need a generic little Canon T6 or T5 starter DSLR. Either one would be perfect. I also have a Canon T3i but I gave that to my daughter in 2018. I think a used T5 would be perfect. They I could get real creative using my grandfathers old 28mm FD mount lens on it and get this real organic soft focus look.
Too funny
Me too!
This is really, really solid information. Really great and concise video. I bought everything.
I am planning to starting a youtube stream and I was confused about how to use DSLR as webcam. This video helped out a lot in understanding how to do it. Thank you!
I use my M50 for UA-cam but haven't tried this yet....I gotta watch this when I get off work!
SALUTE 👊🏼 Think Media 👍🏼
How do you prevent the M50 from cutting off every 5 minutes because it thinks it’s idle?
@@HisandHerMoney dig into the settings you will find the it over there
Looking forward to trying this with my 200D 👍🏾
Edit: works great! Just had to tweak some Kaspersky Internet Security settings which was interfering with the process and giving me a black screen. Fixed and works like a bomb 💣
were you able to stream/record longer than 30mins or does that restriction still apply? i have a 200d also that I'm wanting to use for my gaming channel as i don't really use it for anything else anymore
just bought a m50 mark II, its actually my first dslr and i am excited to learn how to use it. Thanks for the video its still helpful 2 years later.
Thanks for the tip
Thanks for the last excellent video, Omar! I do have two questions:
I'm looking at purchasing a secondhand Canon 200D (SL2). My only concerns are:
1. Does it have a clean HDMI out?
2. Will the dual-pixel auto focus work, if I livestream?
3. I know most (or all?) DSLR'S have a cutoff record time of 29m59secs. Does this apply to streaming (without recording). i.e. will the camera switch off by itself after that amount of time, even if I'm not recording the stream?
BE SURE YOU TURN OFF ALL OTHER APPS INCLUDING EOS UTILITY 3. We did this a few weeks ago and the difference in our livestream is night and day. No going back.
Could you clarify on this?
T3i been on the shelf glad I watched this video!
Rocking the 60D here. Haven't set it up yet but I will be soon. Thank you for the how-to!
I use my M50 as a Webcam as well as for my youtube videos! 😄
Hey man, a lot of knowledgeable people on forums talk about these mirrorless cameras as not being heat tolerant enough to do that and that the sensor will burn out over time. I have an m50, it looks awesome streaming and I've emailed Canon but it's Christmas so won't hear for days probably. Anyways, what's your experience - do you ever see an overheating icon show up? What's your understanding of this issue? Appreciate any info, ta.
Some interesting things you might mention: All DSLRs and mirrorless cameras except a handful of Sony and Panasonic models, have a thirty minute recording/streaming limit. It is possible to disable the limit on the Canon 6D using Magic Lantern. But it's the only one that can be modified that way. I use a 5D MKII, which is not listed on Canon's list of compatible cameras, but works just the same. So if you don't have a camera on the list, try it anyway.
Ive streamed for like 2 hours before with my dslr
This method doesn’t use that 30 minute limit
@@smokeddrinks4617 how?
@@ericmartiniano5179 i use dumbie battery and use streamlabs with eos and eos webcam my dslr stays on cus its tricked into thinking im doing something on it i did a 4 hour stream recently with it
I still use my old 80D to livestream. When the setup is done right the camera will stay on past that timer limit as long as it is plugged into an electric power source. I've been doing this for years.
I just got the m50 for Christmas and I will start steaming with it yay!!!!!!!! And I honestly love the quality of the camera it is a little beast

@@jnarlewis6100 Amazing! 🙏How are you?
Thanks for the tutorial. Are there any lag issues between the audio and the video on zoom when using this Setup?
Used it today for the first time. I love it. Thank you.👍
EASY right?!
THIS ACTUALLY WORKED! Almost freaked out when I seen myself pop up on my screen. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
Whats your camera
@@paulandreitolentino9171 canon rebel T5i
how did you get yourself to pop up, my camera is connected but it's just a black screen and idk how to get myself to show
@@TheCameronSmoot you have to go into your camera settings and change it from default to the plugged in camera. I did mines using zoom and it auto connected with my laptop's camera
@@RyRobio thank you for replying! i've tried my settings and i don't see anything about a plugged in setting. i know it's different for every model... i have a powershot sx40 hs for reference but i'm still struggling haha
"If you have a canon camera laying anywhere in your house "
I even don't own one 😂
Bro I don’t even have a house
I'm kicking a Canon M200. Love the cam for what it does. Even on a stock lens with a few key lights this really pops on stream calls. Runs well on both Canons Webcam utility via usb or via a hdmi to usb capture card through OBS (Now that's next level again if you want to use OBS and get into overlays etc....).
I just got a Cannon EOS Rebel T7 and I want an epic setup. This information is priceless and hopefully I can return my cap card too.
Who else is dying for a Canon this holiday season? 👍
This is a sign that you're right where you need to be in life. Stretch the corners of your mouth up. You are enough. Smile.

Things are as they are, we suffer because we imagined different.
thank you for this tuto, but i followed every step and it still now working for my 800D CANON
Thank you, worked great!
I wish everyone said it right off the bat:
The hdmi cable ain’t it- you need a USB and your camera probably didn’t come with it 😭
I bought a capture card and it’s useless
Even my usb won’t work . I still try to use my camera and it doesn’t work .
I use SONY camera. But I cam anyway 😂. What do you guys use? 🤷♀️

Think Media has really inspired me to commit to UA-cam. I am posting every week for at least a year and am excited to see how far it can grow!!
Thanks for the great video. My cam is rebel t3 from > 10 yrs ago. the sw worked well with it.
Thanks so much! This has been wonderfully useful.

Neewer Bi-Color Video LED 2-Light Kit with Stands - and have a learning curve as I never used a camera before like this anyway - but it is great to have a new goal.
You helped me so much thanks
I just bought the M50 Mark II.
Thank you for your tips!
This video is like 3 years old, but this advise/tutorial still work as a champ just tested this with my Canon T5 with that said I am glad that I don't have to spend $400 dollars in a new camera
Thank you so much. God Bless you and everyone at Think Media.
I love this channel ❤️
Great tutorial.
I have a Canon EOS 250 D. Very useful video. Thx a lot!
Hi, Thanks for your video. I have a M50markII and just installed EOS Webcam Utillity. When I'm speaking there seems to be a short delay of sound. 2 questions. 1) How do I sync audio (I use a Scarlett 2i2 interface with a condensator mic) 2) Can I use a internal mic or a Røde mic directly in the M50 if I calling with Skype or Zoom? The M50 is connected with a USB. Cheers.
Thanks for the help! i started to stream with my canon eos750d. It is much better than my old webcam.
Hey Omar - I've been using the EOS Webcam -> Macbook, and while it works, I find the image quality varies - I wonder if you find using a HDMI Capture Card makes the image sharper?
oh that was easy thank you man
Thanks for the video! Any thoughts on how the EOS webcam utility compares to something like Sparkocam?
Thanks for the video! You mentioned the Sigma 16...I think it doesnt have the Canon "auto focus" electronics built in, so you have to manually focus it. At time 7:23, with the coffee cup demo, and blurry background, how did that lens appear to "autofocus" on the cup, then back to the subject? Or did you happen to manually move the focus for that segment?
Trying to use my rebel T6 for streaming! Was deciding between either this method or getting a cheap capture card and a mini HDMI cord (both I'd have to purchase though)
thanks a lot bro.. you are a life saver
Bro thanks Worked out the problem I was having connecting my Cannon to my computer!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice video thanks for sharing.
Canon M50. Constantly looking to upgrade. Thanks for the content
Hello sirs, please can you advise on two things. 1) do you know how to make a decoupler (mains adaptor) work for canon models? 2) do you happen to have a copy of the canon webcam software 0.9 for mac osx available?

I have a canon rebel t5 too...and have horrible lag...the video doesn't match my voice...do you have this problem?
Canon 800d
I'll be checking this out in a few hours. Is there way to delay or advance the timing on the cam in this use? It seemed like the audio vs video was a hair off when you showed that clip.
Damn thanks for the idea 🥶👌
Really well done.
Great Video! 👍🏾
YOUR SO THE BOSS !!!!!
It’s an incredible tool to use at work for sure. But man, Canon knowing that Big Sur IS the current MacOS should have really thought through making it available to use right away. Now let’s see how long it takes for them to give us an update 😩.
I use a pair of SL2's one into the utility and the other into sparkocam for teaching music
Wow this is great
Great tutorial, I have the M6 mark ii and I find it keeps shutting off around the 20 minute mark, any ideas on how to prevent this because most of my meetings around 1 hour.
Hi! Your channel is a life saver!
I do own 2 canon eos 2000d (i think in USA is Rebel T7). The question is, can i use both in OBS? To have 2 video inputs, one for each camera ?
because when i try to put a video input, is only one canon webcam utility...
