There was a stalking case involving a Brazilian TV show star called Ana Hickmann, her stalker and what he tried to do to her was one of the most well known stalking incidents in Brazil.
The dude broke into the apartment she was at, took Ana, her sister and her brother in law as hostages, shot Ana's sister and her brother in law jumped at the guy, took his gun and killed him. The state office tried to sue Ana's brother in law for "over-use of self-defense", and people got PISSED OFF about it. Dude was a hero, and the justice system took more than 3 years to dismiss the charges. Wild stalking cases like this happen all the time, glad that Kaitlyn was able to avoid it.

Sorry, but I have zero compassion for “Kaitlyn”. Her for-profit exploitation of weak, lonely, and troubled people makes her just slightly better than the crazy POS stalker that she had to deal with (or better, that the cops had to deal with).

    • @Teemofey

It easily could be over-use of self-defense, because generally it's illegal to kill someone after taking his gun.

@@Sercotani absolutely, nothing to say about that. This is especially crazy in a country like Brazil, where criminals equip themselves with Kevlar body vests, Ak47s, integrated radios, M16s with drum mags and are armed better than the regular armies of half of the world’s countries, yet politically charged prosecutors who live in gated communities patrolled by armed security would send normal people to prison for defending themselves...

My favorite part is when asmon says this happens to everybody, it just seems more common towards celebrities because they are in the public eye. It's so true, this literally happens to people of every class, race, gender, and sex. No one is safe from deranged people who think they are entitled to a piece of your life.

@@heygek2769 It depends how you quantify common. If you do it as a ratio then yes, it's more common. If you look at the actual numbers though there is way more non-celebs being stalked and harassed than celebs. I think this is one of those topics where the actual numbers are more important due to the actual size and scope of the issue.

When i was in my late 20's, I had an issue with a 17 year old stalking me. She would call my job all the time, never to talk to me but to get me fired. She forced open my mailbox in an apartment I rented on more then one occasion, and tried to murder my girlfriend at the time. The cops did literally nothing because my stalker was underage, rather, they were on my ass for minor exploitation. It took moving to a different city, deleting all my social media, changing my phone number and email, and working in a different field entirely to get away from her. Shit was scary.

Yeah that definitely sucks, I have not had that extreme case but the woman who used to live next door when we were kids suddenly started contacting me when we both were adults and moved and it kept getting more pushy and more frequent, gas lighting that her kids father is abusive so she could see me and at some point I just started blocking her number when she didnt understand when told I didnt want to talk to her anymore, I have probably blocked half a dozen of her numbers, blocked her in every social media, she started contacting me through her brothers social media so I blocked those. Once she showed up at my door and I just yelled get lost and slammed the door.
I think this is partially the reason why I dont feel comfortable to answer unknown numbers, I mean I do it most of the time but still.
And what could I have done, small woman harassing me but luckily is not physically assaulting me, no authorities would do anything. Luckily now it seems to have stopped, it lasted years but now I havent heard anything in couple of years.

Domestic Violence survivors have stories like these everyday, and it's appalling how little recourse there is for people being stalked. This is awful. I had a couple of years where I dealt with a stalker that was following me while I was out running. He tried following me to my house several times: I sprinted to shake him, I called my boyfriend to pick me up in his car at the nearby grocery store, I even once had to call the cops to drive me home so that this guy couldn't follow me and find out where I lived. I reported him twice: one officer took it very seriously (it may have helped that my boyfriend was an additional witness for that one) but for the second incident, the officer laughed and said "so you have an admirer, huh?" This stuck with me for a long time, and I still have trouble running around my neighborhood or shopping at nearby stores without worrying I'll run into him again.

Many unknown people suffer in silence because there's no law made for protection and of course police use victim blaming and do nothing until somebody dies or gets hurt. I had to move several times, change phone number several times and live a secluded life for the most part in order to avoid her.. and it eventually stopped. My ex broke his restraining order over 200 times. When I reported it to the police the cop I talked to was retiring later that day. He told me to go home and write my own statement and drop it back in days later. I ended up having to leave my family home with my 3 kids and go into a "safe house". We did nothing wrong, yet our whole life was taken from us. My kids were yanked out of school, taken away from their friends, their home, possessions and life. My ex ended up burning and binning all our belongings. Now years later we are still trying to reclaim our lives back. Don't have to be a streamer to be stalked, threatened, beaten etc. No one can ever restore the life my kids and I lost. My ex ended up with a community based order, allowed to roam where ever he wanted, live openly, whilst we hid, isloated in fear. It's BS.

Studies show that even out of the highest trained soldiers, more than 5 out of 6 will panic in a life or death situation. And the numbers are ridiculously high for a person's first life or death encounter. Reading/watching stories like these spur me to reflect on the implications and risks of being a public figure or celebrity. Makes me glad I haven't strived to be a celeb/actor or public figure and I truly cherish my privacy nowadays. I'm a decently attractive guy and have had women who have pursued me for years which was a bit too close for comfort and have indeed almost pushed the panic button per se a few times before, so I could imagine what dawns upon people like Zack, Kaitlyn, Tricia, Jake, Imane, etc. Twitch streamer hate bandwagons aside, having stalkers track you down and making you fear for your life is purely NEVER acceptable and should be combated against with the fullest extent of awareness and the law.

A piece of streamer advice I've heard from our ol Pal Jim aka Mister Metokur was "If you're going to steam, let the police know ahead of time." This played out on Junes Year of the Chud roundup when he got swatted like 30 min into the steam. He came back and plugged his merch and went on with the show like nothing happened. This may not help out with the stalker aspect but hey... it'll reduce your chances of being shot by the police at least.
Swatters should get straight up jail time and stalking needs to be dealt with in a serious manner.

So, just two cents on the "should you or should you not talk about it publicly" thing: I di disagree with Asmon on that one. 100% talk about it if and when you can/are comfortable doing so. I understand what he means about it being a form of reward, but from the indirect experience I've had in this subject (a friend of mine has been stalked, not me), not talking about it also rewards the stalker: because then it's this dirty little secret between you that becomes a tool to isolate and cut you off. Exposing them and talking about it publicly may give them some "reward"/attention, but it can also help you. Not talking about it also gives them something they want, and you gain nothing from it; you may even make it worse for yourself if it isn't widely known because people won't know to watch out for you.
So yeah, obviously there is not one answer for every situation, but in general, stalkers are an exception to the idea of ignoring them to not give them the gratification of being talked about. Because stalkers get what they want either way: either their getting attention because you're talking about them or their getting YOU "all to themselves" in a creepy, abusive form of isolation. So do what helps you, because nothing is going to be a situation where you can deny that creep all forms of attention or reward. Until stalking is better dealt with globally, stalkers get at least some of what they want out of the activity. It fucking sucks, but don't let them isolate you on top of that if you can help it.

Following that event i was in constant ready state for months and months in case they return, and changed my sleep so i could keep watch at night.
In fact at another occasion i remember arguing with the dispatcher both for an ambulance for my grandma and with the police at an other intrusion to send someone and the thing they always ask is " is there a crime being commited as of now?" why you think im calling.

I always though if I ever had to shoot another man for a reason I wouldn't feel bad because I'm strong emotionally. Well few years ago there was a situation where a man attacked a women literally below our apartment windows. Woman started screaming so I grabbed a bat, ran outside and had a really good swing into his rib cage. It all happened so fast, I saw him on top of the woman and I just hit hit as hard as I could into his ribs. He collapsed immediately and my body went through a shock phase thinking I just killed him because as I said I really took a good swing and I understood that maybe I've overestimated the force needed also the bat was aluminum so maybe I shouldn't have hit this hard. All these things were going through my mind that were really horrible. Anyway dude survived with few shattered ribs and punctured lung but damn I still feel kind off bad about it.
Not to mention I had a lot of problems afterwords since he tried to sue me for excessive force usage. Luckily police arrived before medics and told me to hide the bat and say that I kicked him instead, because bat is considered a "cold weapon" in my country so I would be in a lot of trouble if they were to report that. The officer told me that it was brave of me to help this woman so they will report it was a kick. In the end the court ruled that a "kick" was not "excessive" since it was only 1 "kick" and no further harm was done.

My mom had a stalker when I was a toddler. My family only had one car and my mom stayed home with us kids. Mom would take us to the library or the park every week and with her to the grocery store and we took the city bus to get there which is how the stalker "got access" to her I guess you could say. Mom noticed him following behind us in aisles at the grocery store and parking his car at the end of our street after we would get off the bus. Police did nothing. This was a woman just living her life travelling around with her two young daughters age 7 and 4. When it comes to protecting women from unstable fucking maniacs, the justice system is dog shit. I had a stalker when I was 15. Mom was working at this time and dad worked out of town 5 days a week. I would come home from high school and this grown man would watch me walk from the bus stop to my house where I was home alone and just watch my house for hours, leaving as soon as my mom got home from work. The second day that I noticed I called the police frantically and they sent a patrol car out, but he just drove away before they could contact him. They told me they would have an officer sit by my house the next day to deter him and the police officer never came. My dad was off work that day and as soon as the stalker parked his car by my house my dad went out 9mm in hand and threatened to kill him if he ever came back. Dude never came back. If it weren't for my dad, who fucking knows what could have happened to me. The guy cased my house for 3 days and likely thought it was just my mom and I that lived there(since my dad had been out of town the whole time up until the confrontation). He was likely coming to the conclusion that I would be an easy target. This situation is absolutely fucked for women who don't have a gun or a man in their life that can defend/protect them because the cops won't do shit until you're already maimed or in a fucking body bag.

Jesus. What an awful experience for someone to go through... Makes my blood boil that it doesn't always get taken seriously. I knew a girl who had an ex that kept stalking here, she told the police and they did basically nothing... One day we were in a group call with her on Skype, and she said BRB and then it went quiet, we all thought she went to the bathroom or something hence why she was gone for so long... Then suddenly the call ended.
A few days later her sister got in touch to say that our friend had been stabbed in the stomach, her ex had climbed in through the window and stabbed her as she came out of the bathroom. Luckily she made it out ok and the fucker got jailed, but my god I can't even fathom the mental toil it probably still has on her.

My older sister had a stalker. It ended when he decided to come to my house at about 2 in the morning while she had friends over and they(plus my mom) were all watching a movie in the living room. The dude knocked on the window of our dining room(which you can see into the living room from). We had called the cops multiple times about this guy but they never really did anything up until this point. So my mom got my dad who was sleeping, he went outside in his whitey tighty underwear with a Glock 21 and a maglight(this was before weapon lights were very common) looking for the guy. The cops were called and they responded by bringing a bunch of K9's but they never found the guy. Before the cops arrived though my dad shouted something into the darkness along the lines of "You better hope the cops find you before I do!"
The stalker never returned after that night and left my sister alone. It was very scary though.

the thing is tho, its perfectly fine to talk to someone you don’t know as if you have known them for 10 years as a gesture, as long as you don’t demand anything back, or act like someone owes you something, the main thing is that thing, being really aware of how a stranger could and should view you when you pop up in their life out of nowhere. there is this sense that a celebrity should expect to be sought out, I know you are a wow celeb and thats kind of fringe, and you haven’t always been, but it helps a little to imagine a stranger just coming up to you and starting to talk to you when you are just a random person, that would be very strange indeed, but because on twitch for example where there is a back and forth between even individuals and the streamer it feels like to some people that the streamer knows you just as well as you know them, but that is ofc an illusion, and most people get that in an intuitive way, at least to the extent that they don’t get any crazy expectations stuck in their heads. You are also right I think to assume that these stalkers are more or less not quite all there, but that could as you say be for various reasons, and it’s important that we understand all the ways you can get there, what it has in common with interpersonal relationships that are good and bad and what to do about it should become more clear once we have a good grip on that. I for one think learning about how we form bonds and relationships early is key, such that we get that awareness and also can form sound and sufficient emotional connections throughout childhood to then be able to avoid these pitfalls. Its easy to say that its common sense when you or me have had these relationships and dont have a particular need to attach ourselves to strangers in this way, but the people who do really have a lot to struggle with, and it simply must be painful and confusing, anyway, I’m hopeful that a lot more can be done to mitigate and prevent these things before they develop.

Before I started streaming, I did cosplay (Still kinda do but it's different). With doing cosplay I've got one hell of a story. One guy would message me DAILY for 6+ months after he met me at a cosplay "meet up", After he got no where with me, I didn't reply and I left the conversation go stagnate (he freaked me out when he said he'd come to my local train station daily to see me). He lost interest, Months later I found out, He lured a young female cosplayer into an alley way and attacked her (sexually - I can't remember if YT's sensitive to the word so fill in the blanks). He was charged with "not allowed in events that have children there" and a 6 months "good behaviour" sentence.
It's not just streamers, the Cosplay scene is just as bad... mainly cause you're dressing up as their "waifu" they automatically go into creep mode. (Low key thankful I only ever did cosplays of 'less well know' characters in public, In private I do well known anime waifus, I found a way to avoid the cringe, for now anyway lol)
Streaming stories wise, I'm a smol streamer so look, I don't cop A LOT of shit but it's enough to cringe XD. My streaming experience so far is my TOP donator, he'd enjoy my WOW streams and then the messages started... but the best part was when he wrote "I donate to you, therefore I OWN you".. Yeah he aint a dono any more, don't mess with an australian XD.

Walking around someone property unfortunately is not a crime and if the police stop him they can get sued for violating there rights. Last but not least, you shouldn't relay on police to protect you, police can't be with you 24/7, train and arm yourself with a firearm... Thats what we do out here in Texas.

If you talk about it you may "validate" them and make them feel recgonized but if you never acknowledge them it could agitate them further, too. It's just impossible to tell how such people will react, obviously, because they are mentally ill. So I think talking about it is still better because I think the most terrible part about stalkers is having to deal with them all by yourself. Get help and support quickly! Especially because others are then aware of your situation so in the worst case scenario, they might make a difference.

Bro, there's nothing scarier than crazy people. I'd much rather go out in a random accident or something than hear someone entering my house with a knife saying they're my biggest fan. This is beyond awful. The craziest thing is, the police doesn't even respond to this shit most of the time (at least where I'm from), best they can do is "call us if they harm someone". Hell, even domestic violence is legalized here, it's not been very important to the authorities to begin with, but now it's legit an administrative issue, like smoking at a bus station or something. A politician in an adjacent country got arrested for murdering his wife with his bare hands and almost got away with it. His defense was "she fell over, I didn't even hit her", meanwhile her body was as messed up as a rock climbing accident victim. Stalker stuff happens here all the time, and often they get away with everything. Apparently, carrying a weapon and sending threats is not enough to do something about them, free to go I guess, better tell them the victim's address and wag a finger at them just in case. I feel really safe knowing the police will help me if anything goes wrong FeelsOkayMan 👍
