In youtube comments you'll see people who act like "Ok but this NFT is still 80k so how can NFTs possibly be bad". This type of brain damage is what I picture happens when you stay in hustle culture too long. Everything not related to making money just doesn't exist anymore. NFT has big number so NFT good. All the other points about cheating, how it makes games worst, and how stupid it is doesn't even register in their mind. Fun, relationships, values, touching grass, all of that is gone.

It's basically spiritual death; everything in the culture is about vanity and denial of the march of time. You make the assumption that you will always have time for the things which make life worth living at some point when you can just love wealthy. Nevermind that you will have given up your youth, missed out on the close and intimate relationships which makes life worth it, you just exist to consume shit.

I have to say: in many companies, the "winners" or more competitive people with a high drive actually end up getting punished. Taking initiative and investing with your workplace can often get taken for granted. Promotions may not be based upon those qualities that you're showing. Instead, what happens is that poor performers are able to get by while higher performers are expected to carry the weight of others. So, in essence, the performers with less motivation or competitiveness do better.

I got all my promotions by just being annoying to management but not enough to where I'm hated. Applying for a higher position afterwards usually causes them to just accept it as its easier to deal with. Office culture is very nuanced and can't really be understood by people who don't actually work. Its also usually different across workplaces too(expecting things to be very different in a smaller company as opposed to where I work for example). Agreeing 100% with what you said too as I see it happen first hand, people really good at their job are kept in their position as them leaving would cause chaos as only a few people do any actual work.

My problem? Resentment. I can't rationalize it or block it out. I'm here because of my own decisions, based off circumstances I didn't choose. I chose the best of multiple awful options. I didn't have the choice to pick a better option, there was never the opportunity given my life experience and the environment I was in. So resentment breeds from this. I can fix my situation, I'm going to try. But I'm also 100% liable to absolute self destruction of me and everyone around me, and I have very little ability to control it, because it's irrational, so I can't rationalize it. • @KayKatsumi
      @KayKatsumi 16 днів тому

Life isn’t a competition. The only one you’re trying to win against is yourself. You want to be content, You want to be stable, You want to be happy, You want to enjoy yourself. Some men are perfectly content with a small house with their wife and kid, enjoying themselves peacefully. Others can’t stand the sight of that picture, and only want mansions and fast cars.
With the picture of these two people I’ve outlined, who crossed the finish line? Who ‘won’? If you asked me, all of them won. If the man with a small house wears the same smile as the man in the mansion, and feels the same warmth at night before they sleep, then how could either of them have lost?
So if two of those men ended in two different tax brackets but still ended up passing on happily, who set the goal post? They did. They chose where the finish line was. Not the world, not society, and not anyone else.

  • @jonvvoid

I really agree with asmon here. My life has been basically ruined from letting myself get overwhelmed and blaming everything on everyone and everything but myself, but I can foresee my life being a lot better if I change the way I see the world and take more accountability for the things I have an effect on. I'm just a guy, just a viewer, just a random basically skill-less depressed person, but I realized I have been doing everything wrong, my focus is in the wrong place and I need to work on fixing the mistakes. You really do need to be your own "north star" and remember what separates you from the things you hope to someday achieve, then just work on closing that gap. I'm right there with you in a teeth situation. I lost my self worth over time and I need to build it back up, but I'm determined today, I plan to stay determined.
And yes, no one really is going to be there for you everytime you fall, no one is always gonna be there for you but yourself and you can't expect others to fix your problems, you need to show people you can fix your problems and that them helping your situation is going to make a real difference. You get what you put out in life and if people see you truly striving and being a good person and sticking to your beliefs, they will be more likely to trust that they can actually help you in an effective way, major or minor.

I also think it is equally important to recognize the difference between the things in our lives we can control and the things we cannot, and what is important and deserves our focus and attention and what doesn't and is just a waste of our time. Find out what success means to you and pursue that version of success over what anyone else thinks it means. I love the view of having personal agency and thinking of problems as your fault and that you have the power to solve them. I used to feel that exact way and try to stay thinking that except now I'm married and now I have a child.
As soon as you are in a relationship there's a lot that are entirely outside your control and problems that you can have zero control over. Things that aren't your fault and you torment yourself because toxic people try to make you feel like everything is your fault and you suck but they can't tell you how without bullshitting you or just being vague and disgusting. Worst is that I'm my worst critic and that feeds into itself. All I'm saying is fair warning to anyone considering getting into a relationship and make sure you don't get into one with someone toxic. If you do at least be prepared for life to become hell at least mentally. It can be that way even with someone who doesn't have obvious red flags etc. In hindsight my spouse probably did have some big red flags that a newbie virgin like me should've paid attention to and steered clear of. Now I have what I have and it kinda sucks but it also is kinda good sometimes. What most people value above all else is you being easy to work with, creating a good enviroment and being open. Maybe my experience is too narrow or the EU is too different to the USA but competition doesn't seem to have that much of an impact in our daily life's as you'd expect from education. P.E. just because Asmon is succesful doesnt mean others can't. I watch him and I watch people with 100 viewers, and if both stream at the same time I'll watch the one that has the most interesting topic that day.
There's only so much you can do alone.

I think the best way to view life is to have a competition with yourself. You can only compare yourself to yourself, no one has had the same experience and background than you. Be kind to yourself, but that also means that you have to push yourself into being the best person that you can be. However, take your time. You don´t have to rush things. As long you are healthy and and willing to change you can overcome a lot in life.

I agree with you on pretty much every point you made here, but imo there is one caveat. I disagree that no one cares or will come through for you except in rare unpredictable situations. I do agree that getting over your problems is on you and in your own mindset completely. However, I have 1 person, that it took a long time to find, who truly cares about my issues and comes through for me every time as I do for them and that would be my husband. Doesn't have to be a spouse, but it is possible to have someone in your life that truly does care, but doesn't coddle or enable you. Even with that support though, I still stand on it being on the individual to be able to look at themselves, take inventory and then take the steps needed to move forward in a better way.

I own a successful small business and one of our priorities at the company has been to keep a work life balance. That said bursts of hustle are a necessity to get things growing and moving. My Dad made the analogy to me years ago that starting a business is like pumping water by hand. Very hard when pumping the water up at first but once it starts flowing and the vacuum is created it's easier to pump the water. This is true in my experience. Getting your first few big projects as a business is daunting and hard but with every success your confidence improves with your reputation and it gets much easier. Even your failures help you learn and improve your confidence when analyzing new clients and jobs.

The promotion usually means shitty working hours and bringing work home with you. I could absolutley be "competetive" at work if i wanted to but it's just a straight up shitty thing to do in my line of work as it would put all the bad parts of work on the other shifts. Instead we agree "we do things this way so that we can all have a good time while were here" which is a much more pleasant life in the end.

    1. There are finite resources, but basically all scarcity is artificial. We could clothe, feed, house, and give everyone a fridge, a microwave, and a TV with more to spare. 2. In a lot of corporate environments, skill/usefulness/ability does not dictate all that much. Theres a reason people say "those who cannot do lead". A three person team that does good, critical work and provides value required for the business to operate will stagnate while people who sit around and fluff each other in conference rooms will keep moving up the ladder. And that ignores the fact that the people who are making the most money don't even need to clock in. They just profit off of everyone else's work.

Something I figured out a bit too late on "no-body gives a damn". Sometimes you're on one side of the pit and there are ppl on the other side of the pit that do really want you to cross the pit but you're the one that has to cross it and regardless of how weak or strong you're there's a real chance that you may not survive but they really do want you to cross it. Thing is, even self-interest aside, it's just not possible at times to help you because you're not in that mental state or helping you hurts them or something but life gets way easier with accountability. Life sucks a lot of times, very often but at least for me it helped when I knew there were ppl I wanted to help that I couldn't and therefore there were ppl that wanted to help me but couldn't. But it also helps to consider a lot of ppl that are doctors in remote, unprivileged areas, ppl that give up their life for others, ppl that do more charity than they can afford so at the end of the day, no one owes you much but if it's an unpleasant thought, you can be the change you want to see and create the idealistic world that sounds pleasant, It just means a little more work and a little more sacrifice.

It just feels like such a betrayal, i mean i'm not even that old lol, I now think it's so important to start a craft or passion really early, that said that's more or less impossible for some fields, like how are you gonna get a 11 y/o into using blender as an example?

not to say that that is all we have to show, but we bleed a lot of effort into the pockets of the powerful, they dont make our contributions very efficient

Like....when you have a psychological problem, lack of love, ( or self respect, shyness, fear, anger, trauma etc.) that you try to overcome with money and power, and the power money brings, there will never be enough, because money and power can not solve your problem, they can only fix the symptons shortterm. You can throw money in form of hookers, drugs, fancy clothes and other statussymbols at the problem all you want, when you lack trust, you need emotional, psychologicl work.
    So greed produces scarcity.
