I’m sorry, is he a hero for killing an innocent animal? If there was a puppy at your front door and a delivery driver killed it because it could be dangerous, what would you think? With those tools you could easily have moved it without killing a keystone species. Also before you say “it could have injured the girl” 1. She was going to school, and the rattlesnake would have left by the time she came back 2. Rattlesnakes don’t strike unless they’re being threatened. If they educated their child on how to avoid possibly dangerous things in the area, then she should be fine.

This pisses me off. There are 20 things you could do to make the area safer without killing an animal that's only crime was existing. If you are too scared to get it into a bucket or a sheet/pillow case, there are plenty of people that will come and relocate it for you, many without a charge. Odds of dying from a snake bite in the US is something like 1 in 50 million. They aren't deadly as people overexagerate. Most snake deaths come from allergic reactions and people with poor hearts. Snakes do so much for us and we just kill them and praise those that do simply because we are too ignorant to get over our fears and educate ourselves. It's quite sad really.

No. The snake did NOT need to be killed. He should have called animal control so the animal could be relocated. And, this family is probably going to face this issue again because they haven't taken steps to keep away animals such as this. When any area is experiencing extreme heat, animals are going to seek any cool or shade spot they can find. Killing the animal is not the answer.

But it's all still murder because how could they possibly recognize the area in which they are in? They were simply just moving around, found somewhere to chill for a bit and never outright attacked anyone until someone came up to it and outright killed it just for being there. Same thing we do to other dangerous animals and bugs around our areas. It's not their fault, they didn't seek us out, but we still have to dispatch them because if not they'll harm or kill us by accident because they don't understand us nor our intentions in nearly the same way that we do theirs since we are, again by no faults, simply vastly more intelligent and dominant compared to them. There's a Ring video of cartoonist Berkeley Breathed (Bloom County) stepping out of his home in his bare feet and he comes pretty close to a rattlesnake that's curling up on his front porch. Scary.
That said: Instagram has been sending me videos of a guy named Wrangler Bruce who seems to do nothing but capture rattlesnakes when he's called. He makes it look easy. Still, I don't know if I would want to do it.
I'm glad this driver kept the family safe. That's always the most important thing. But if one wants -- and one is in Arizona -- Wrangler Bruce is a good option.
