I lived in Toronto Canadá. And been out for 43 years, I still remember that massacre on the Cathedral stairs entrance. I lost a friend in his last year to become a Doctor. It was very sad day . And looking up now. What an inspirational time. Blessings from abroad.☀️🌊🌋🏄🍻🇨🇦🇸🇻

A Salvadorean once told me that 10 of his friends were murdered for being in the wrong neighborhoods, and they were not gang members. Another told me that the gangs threatened to rape his sister the moment she stopped paying extortion money. Salvadoreans all over the country weren't allowed to visit family members in other neighborhoods controlled by rival gangs.
Who would have thought several years ago, that all the freedoms you talk about are now being experienced in a place nobody ever imagined would be successful at turning the page in their history of corruption and violence. on the other hand, all those freedoms have been lost now in places we considered the pillars of democracy. being wrong is not shameful, accepting it is a virtue we should be proud of.
It really is something nobody could have ever predicted, and goes to show how rapidly things can change for better or for worse. Thanks for your insightful comment 💙
Where were the same human rights groups who critisize Bukele when all this violence is going on in the last 30 years? What have they done to alleviate the suffering of the common people?

thanks for this video, when Ronny was talking about how he felt about love of family and the roots, that is excactly how i feel even now its been 10 years since i went back it was a holiday visiting my birth family. im planning on moving back there soon ( money permited) i was born at the end of the civil war 1992 july, and i was adopted so i lived most of my life in England. but when i went there at 15 i felt at home even more since i met my birth mother the fist time.

What a great video! After recently coming here, I am finding all that this video shows to be so accurate. The people are warm. After a year of travel, I feel safer than anywhere else I have been. This includes Portugal. I met Ronnie and he is heart centered and great and Ryan, who I have not met, texted me with some advice. It is a big change to come to a new country and culture to live. You have to learn that there are places where people look you in the eye and smile just because. That is such a good thing.

Take away the gang problem, and El Salvador is a beautiful country with good people. But I feel sorry for the survivors of the madness and the PTSD they must have to deal with.
We have heard some truly horrifying stories. But at the same time, we have observed an incredible level of resilience.
I was a child 4-5 years old. And I remember the shooting. Mi dad ducked us down and we went up the street towards Hula-Hula Parking lot where Hotdog 🌭 El Pasa used to be in the corner across from the old ( ANTEL ) the telephone company. 😊😂😂
