- August 13 marked one year since we started this wild ride. We've experienced the highs of novelty, adventure, new experiences, and we've also faced the lows of various challenges, disappointments, and setbacks. Through it all, we've learned a lot about ourselves, and what it means to start a marriage in a foreign country.
In this livestream, we'll share our unvarnished story with you. We'll talk about the challenges we've faced, the lessons we've learned, and the amazing people we've met along the way. And of course, we'll answer all your questions!

We are moving to SV, God willing, on the same date as my parents’ wedding anniversary. They were so happy in their new life together that we wanted to symbolically braid that into our new life. :)

You mentioned that you had the wrong background check when you first got to El Salvador - just wondering about that. What the right one to get???

You want a fingerprint-based background check from the RCMP in Ottawa. It cannot be provincial. You'll also want to have this apostilled by an authorized official. Contact a notary for guidance on obtaining this. Be sure to bring the original documents, not copies, and that they are dated within 90 days of your residency application in El Salvador.
@twopeopleinparadise thanks so much for this info, I will get that in the works asap. Just wondering, because my husband Will is already a Salvadorian citizen does it make any difference? (We live in Ontario but he has his DUI)
As a citizen, your husband won't have to clear any hurdles. You will be treated the same as any other foreigner, and will have to follow the same processes. The difference is that your process is shorter: Jessica and I won't be eligible to apply for citizenship until 2027, whereas you, as the spouse of a citizen, can apply after just 2 years in the country.
