I just wanna say THANK YOU soooo much for showing me in detail how to do a retwist without all the “extra” yada yada you got rite into it and explained in grave detail how to get started and how it looks in the end. I recently started my daughter loc journey with 2 strands and she is up for her first retwist!! I was nervous at first but I’m ready and excited to see how it turns out!! So thank you 🙏🏽
Damn I need to come to you to get my retwist! You did a FANTASTIC job! Me going on 1 month of having my two strand twists! Blessings to everyone on their loc journey!
@@getrealhood you dont take it out to retwist. You twist over and over. When you make new growth you retwist it but you dont take it down. Look at how in the video she never takes it down
Thank you for sharing. I love the simplicity of this retwist. I have been maintaining my own locs as well as my son's for over two years now and I am about to begin starter locs on my neice. I needed to find more tutorials that would guide me in this because I've never done starter locs. I needed to see how to do that first retwist and this was just what I needed to see. Thanks again!

I just started my locs July 31, 2021 and my stylist did mine just like this. I loved your video. Very detailed and your clients hair texture is beautiful! Great work! Continued success to you!
Started my son's locs with two strand twists a month ago! Did his first wash and retwist yesterday. We love ❤️ them, I'll be locing my own the ssme way, by years end. Might I ask how you became a loctician, I was thinking 🤔 of seriously learning.
I have recorded a video explaining how I became one, but didn’t know if people would want to see it! I’ll find the footage and edit it ❤️ congrats on starting your son’s locs. Glad things are going smoothly
So I two strand my hair and planning to loc but I did these effortlessly and had no part, just grab and go. I plan to retwist my locs as time goes on but Is this smart and would I create breakage if it's not even parts
People do this all the time and it’s not the worst thing! It may be a good idea to have a professional look at it maybe once just to make sure your locs have a solid foundation! But you should be fine
Coming up on my first month in a week, only difference is mines was started 3 strand braid at the root and 2 strand twist the rest of the way, great video , thanks 🙏
I'm starting my locs with two strand twist. I was a kinky curly girl so what suggestions you have for the locing process. I know I will try to go a month without washing.
@Courtney - If the client intentionally had two strand twists during her initial install, why did you do comb coils at the back of her hair during the retwist?
Because a coil would shrink and most likely hold better than a two strand twist, given the texture of her hair in the back. If you saw her hair today, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the coils and the twists.
My first retwist was 9-27 and my hair was similiar to this when she was done. This made me feel so much better about my journey! I love my loctician but I wish you were in Cincinnati 😞 😂
Hey I loved this video! I’ve had my locs for about 5 months now. I’ve been doing 2 strand retwist style to my locs people said I should wait every 3-4 months for a retwist is this good or should I do it sooner?
Man.. I wanna restart.. I’m only a week in with the two strand twist method and I only have about 40 something Two strand Twist in and the parts aren’t the way I wanted them.. Only thing stopping me from going back is the fact I don’t want my loctitian to think I’m ungrateful or anything. Should I go to a different person or try doing them myself. Also can I do a twist out now and let the hair loc up that way? I did not start with comb coils
Hmm, if you think the loctician could do the parts the way you want them, go for it. If not, go to someone else. You’re not ungrateful, you just want your hair a certain way, like most ppl. Don’t feel guilty! If you take the Twists out and let it Loc up your parts may still not be how you want them, but I’ve heard of ppl doing that.
I have terrible seborrheic dermatitis so if I don’t wash my hair with a prescription shampoo at least every 10 days, I have terrible buildup, itching and scalp peeling. I am worried about not washing my hair for that long. Any tips?
Thank you for the content, I'd love to get clarity on the two stand twists, so you don't start to loc the entire twist together you separate the twists and loc the individual strands? The point is to get that curly texture at the end right? I would love to start mine I wish I had an experienced loctitian, I'd appreciate any help
Thank you! My pleasure. I’m actually testing out my own products, so I’m going to wait to share those when they launch, instead of someone else’s product. Hope you understand.
Okay so this has been my question… so if I start locs with two strand twist, when you do a retwist you still retwist the roots going to the right? Because I did the two strand twist with the right side going over the left… so I don’t twist the new growth the same way (to the left/counter clockwise) do the retwist to the right (clockwise) anyways?
Quick question. I had two strand twists before going on vacation and after 3-4 months, should I take down my two strands or leave them as is for a retwist if my loctition is washing them
What’s a good beauty supply store twisting gel or product to use on starter locs. I know all the good stuff you have to order online but the waiting is not an option at the moment.

I love your videos. Watching a retwist is so relaxing. May I ask you a question please: I recently installed my starter locs with comb coils about 5 weeks ago. I retwisted at 3 weeks because the roots unravelled, I think because I was spraying with rosewater almost daily for the first 3 weeks. My hair started budding (I think it's budding not bunching) at 2 weeks! Is this normal? My natural hair is a mix of 4B, 4C and 4A and tangles like crazy when loose so I expected it to loc easily but I'm surprised at how quickly it seems to have happened. My starting point was 1 year of healthy (recently trimmed) growth after shaving my head for 2 years. The retwist is holding well after 2 weeks and I've eased up on the rosewater, just spraying the ends - not the roots this time....
Hi how is the proces when it comes to no grid/ freestyling i mean when you just dont want to see a grid.. not freestyling all the way... do you have an example video or something? this is the brik grid system right? And why do i see coils in this video? How does the new growth become 2 strands or do the not so then it is a 2 strand method and after that is mixes in with coils?
I got normal 2 strand twist I don’t know if it was starter locs what would I do to make them locs? Do I unravel the twists and book a retwist with the parts and twist outs?
I'm really conflicted...does it really matter (will the thickness of my locs be influenced) whether I do coils v. two strand twists for starter locs? I have course, dense hair. Goal for locs: health, a full look (80-120 locs), and neat parts (not really concerned with thickness 'cause I know my hair will do its thing there). As a loose natural I wear two steand twists all the time, are there any benefits to doing coils besides them locing "faster" because it's in a single, cylinder state? Also, do you have someone to recommend where I could see their loc journey starting out with each one method so I could get a better feel for that process?
I went from 5 month Freeform locs to two strand twist I was curious does that reset locing progress because when I got them two stranded I was told they were very locced up and also that’s the reason they chose to two stranded them
Her parts look like the same size as mine and I was told that I would have “Thick” locs because of that..I don’t mind..I just wonder how Thick they would be? I’m not trying to have them super huge..more like a medium loc…that “thick” comment makes me want to start over with smaller parts. I like the thickness of Lacee Rise” locs…everyone’s journey is different but I like the thickness of her locs.
I have regular two strand twist in right now just I go for a retwist? Or I need to start with professional two strand twist starter locs is there a difference?

Nice video, about how many locs would you say this is?
Hey I just started my two strand locs and I have big parts and the twist is starting to unravel at the bottom of the twist is that normal?
That is normal. If your hair is long enough, put it in a style to prevent further unraveling!
So what is different two strand twost and two strand twist starter loca
I'm really conflicted...does it really matter (will the thickness of my locs be influenced) whether I do coils v. two strand twists for starter locs?
I have course, dense hair. Goal for locs: health, a full look (80-120 locs), and neat parts (not really concerned with thickness 'cause I know my hair will do its thing there).

They shouldn’t, unless it’s worn 24/7

medium heat @ 30 mins or until it’s dry

I’m not trying to have them super huge..more like a medium loc…that “thick” comment makes me want to start over with smaller parts. It really depends on your hair density tbh! What method did u start with?
I have regular two strand twist in right now just I go for a retwist? Or I need to start with professional two strand twist starter locs is there a difference?
A loctician can help you figure out the look you want, number of locs, and parting (which is important in the overall look)
So getting a retwist is like getting it done all over again every time you wash??
This is her first retwist so technically her hair is still loose. So there’s a lot more work to be done until it matures
