"No. Just one big fan."
Ooooooh.

That's not a wind machine. That's just Windwood's aura of awesomeness.
Great reply. Saw Winwood with Steely Dan last week in Dublin. An aura of awesomeness.
"Windwood" I see what you did there. LOL!
That was a priceless comment! Way to go. Love me some Winwood since the Spencer Davis Group!!
LittleMissLeared lol true
The guy is amazing, reinvented himself with each decade. As a young kid in '83 i was hearing his current stuff but also wondering if that was the same guy i heard doing gimme some lovin'.

You've been summoned.
😂
Good evening, Valarie. Nice meeting you.
This was Doctors office music when I was a kid in the 80s. All these years later and I wonder what happened to all of this real music.
Fun fact: Winwood played EVERY instrument on this song completely on his own.
He's super talented why do people have to make negative comments if you've got nothing good to say then don't say shit!

adamweishaupt81 thanks for the memory
adamweishaupt81 Stevie Winwood- the Wonder Boy of Rock!!
adamweishaupt81 But Heidi, on THIS track you can tell from a mile away it's a drum machine (he still had to program it BTW) and multiple synthesizer tracks. No actual bass guitar. Doesn't take away from Steve at all; actually it's great he opened up to the then new tech!
I babysit an 8 month old little girl named Valerie. I sing this to her all the time and she smiles so big.

Stevie Winwood underrated one of Englands finest artists
Dude has a solid career spanning decades.
I spent years looking for this song. Heard it on a classic rock station, never remembered the song name/lyrics or artist. Got the record that it was on from my mom in February, put it on said album a few nights ago and jumped for joy in front of my roommate who thought I went nuts when it started playing.
"Dude! Why you freaking out?"
"I've been looking for this song for over 15 years since I heard it when I was 16" (just turned 32 on Sunday)
I called my music friends who I use to track down certain songs, screaming "I'm not crazy! I found it! It's called "Valerie" by Steve Winwood. I knew it existed!"
It's the little things in life like these moments I enjoy the most.
Eccezionale top...Grazie Steve
AWEEEE
@Steve Winwood LOL
I just found out what the song is called when watching Peter Kay Car Share Deleted Scenes Classic song
I JUST FOUND IT TODAY!!! Years and years of searching!!!
I have always considered Steve Winwood's voice to be a musical instrument of its own.
Well his voice is used for the song call on me by Eric Prydz
@@boerebru Bro, that's the worst way you could have phrased that..
He re-recorded the song just so Eric Prydz could sample it. Just found this out today.
@@ezradlionel711 So ipso facto used his voice?
I don't get what your intent is here.
@@boerebru If you had said "Well Eric Prydz sampled this song for Call on me" I wouldn't have said anything.
"Used his voice" sounds pretty ambiguous to me. His voice wasn't some ancillary instrument on the track, it's the entire song. Plus it wasn't originally Eric's song -- he took a Daft Punk members DJ loop and got the rights to do a full arrangement and had to re-do the song because he couldn't get rights for the Master.
So when you say use his voice, I think you're glossing over a bunch of stuff.
@@ezradlionel711 My comment is in relation to the comment before that said he considers Steve Winwood's voice an instrument and I was basically saying your not alone cause it got used like an instrument in the song Call on me. Why you got to make a mountain out of an ant hill?
45 and still loving Steve Winwood. Reminds me of a time I can never get back to and that will never exist again........
Yes, i think The same.

That is cute
That’s why my mom named me Valerie too 😂
Good enough reason for me
God bless you dude!
Fun fact: Winwood played EVERY instrument on this song completely on his own.
Damn scrubbing bubbles attacking his keyboard while he's trying to play!
He played most of the instruments on his debut record as well. He played ALL of the instruments on Arc of a Diver and Talking Back to the Night, with the exception of some additional engineering and backing vox. The guy is brilliant!!!
And he even re-sang the lyrics for eric prydz' cover
Windwood plays enough musical instruments for an entire band.
Bawhahahahaaaa🤣
Did he do the mixdown? It sounds like someone rolled off every frequency under 500 hz.... Maybe it's just this UA-cam video?

Pocket keyboards? for laptops?
Really? That's cool. I had a small Yamaha home keyboard in the 80s which had "Just the way you are" by Billy Joel as the demo!
No. Keyboards are electronic pianos.
Mine had Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go." lol
This is an outstanding 80s pop song that still sounds new. Steve Winwood is an actual genius. Never sounds old, never sounds strange. An incredible artist.
Probably got his share
I saw him open for Tom Petty a few years back and he somehow sounded better than the studio tracks. We were sitting on his side of the stage too, so it was wild to see someone that I heard as a young child, play these songs from multiple periods when I was growing up. Very surreal, but note for note on every instrument and singing, it felt fresh as ever.
I agree, 1 of the best of all time I think.👍🎶😊
We bought that wind machine and dammit, we're going to get our money's worth.

Hey, practical effects still better than most CGI they use today. Tay Tay should have used some of the 80's effects for her album 1989.
“Do you want a guitar solo in this song? It’s what everyone’s doing.”
“Nope. Hand me my Casio.”
How bout a sax?
CASIO.

"Casio."
"Maybe some strings and-"
*"CASIO"*

So great
And a poor solo to boot.
Very good Memories,thank you eighties!❤️❤️😊😊
I was describing this song to someone about a month ago and they told me that it was "Call on Me" by Eric Prydz. I went to listen to that and I was like, "Yeah, I guess this is it but I thought it had more lyrics. Guess I was wrong." Then today I just happened to come across this and instantly knew this was the song I was actually looking for! So glad I found this version. At least I can watch this video at work (unlike Prydz's remix)! LOL

Oh my god!!! I've been looking for this song for ages and just now found it. Heard it once in the radio and the frickin song never played again, so I was left with the unintelligible chorus (I wasn't paying attention much and the reception wasn't really good in the car), until it hit me that what the guy was saying was "Valerie" & here it is. God, feeling #accomplished! :)
I know what you mean. I don't love it, though.
Наверное, ты самый счастливый человек на свете, когда находишь вожделенную песню, которую искал целую вечность.
What an excellent comment ! We've all been there .
I hear this song all the time on the radio...though it is the 1987 version
I feel you, I once had the "laaaa la la la la la" part from Elton John's "Crocodile Rock" stuck in my head I couldn't for the life of me remember what damn song it was. Randomly, while I was at an amusement park, they played it over the radio and I finally recognized his voice. It was such an awesome feeling.
Try to sing this song yourself, and you will realize this guy has a power voice that is pretty beyond. Also i like he seem so easy going happy almost in love on that record. Very uplifting.
Crazy how someone made a whole song sampling this.

Absolutely not, it's a piece of its time as clearly indicated by the 80s style it's produced in.

why don't we have good songs like this anymore? i'm dead tired of hearing about drinking, cars, money, sex and whatnot. i love their beats and music (sometimes) but the content is old. We need more guys like John Lennon, Steve Winwood, and other greats from the old days around. back when love was from the heart and wasn't synonymous sex (as far as today's music goes). i know some songs by today's artists are good like this but we need more.
You can't generalise music like that. According to you, music now has all these references to alcohol, money and sex, but you're forgetting that music has ALWAYS had references to all of these.
Go ahead and tell me that John Lennon NEVER wrote a song about sex, or drinking, or drugs for that matter...
rickesh28 yeah, but that stuff is more prominent in songs today
Couldn't agree with you more! This is actually tuneful, not like some of the re-invented versions that are just utter shite!
***** Don't go on about the 'wrong generation' shit I am only 36!! I have listened to a lot of modern music actually and whilst there are some that don't mention money, sex or drugs, they are very few and far between! I appreciate people who are able to write their own music and do it well like Adele, not people who just produce random noises from a synthesizer that is on a loop! There is nothing remotely musical about that!
Oh FFS really? "Music was better in my day". You should be embarrassed spurting such cliched claptrap with a straight face. Even Alvin and the Chipmunks, the animated series, pointed out the moronic hypocrisy of this sentiment in the 80's and that is HARDLY a bastion of social criticism. If you think music today is rubbish, that says more about you than music; you're not looking hard enough (read 'at all') and you mistake music that 'you like' as the only material with merit. Neither make for a very robust opinion.
One of the greatest synth leads ever!
Of course, I'm still listening in 2024. Steve Winwood's music is timeless. 💕💕💕
