Those other three heroes are a joke. The tank is the lynchpin of a party. Then the healer. These two facilitate the party to do its job. Dps is whoever is left.
Don't forget the mage as an optional fourth member. It can fill in any leftover nich that is needed.

Heavy Shield: Type 5 (if you get the reference), able to fire slow, long, powerfull ranged splash attacks but with also deals damage to allies when they get hit, the shield wielder will be have decreased mobility but greatly increased defense and attack.

Interesting how most of his shields would be profession, quality of life, protection and support kinds. Nearly as if the creator of the shield wanted it to be a great addition to the 3 glass cannon heroes while they all are out on adventures together ... too bad he didn't plan for the 3 to be egoistic kiddies xD

I’d be a tank
glass cannons do have power in attack, but is able to be destroyed in one hit
A tank however, even without its guns, it’s still a very effective tool, and just because a shield isn’t meant to attack, is still a effective weapon in the right hands
Plus Naofumi has +Exp bonus for anyone in his party. Which is why Raphtalia grow so fast. They are all at a lost for not having him.
@@Jinsh1911I read in the manga where that's true, but I think her being a slave also has something to do with that as well
also while not said, I think the shield offer's a Party Enhancement, with this, anyone in his party gets 2-3 time's their normal prefoemance level, becoming even more effective as a result, despite less of level
@@LoneWolf20213 plus he basically buffs you if the party member is a slave.
By taking in the ink for the slave seal Naofumi unlocked the Slaveshield which gives a plus to experience and a correction to the growth of the slave, which means when she levels up she would get points to the stats that would benefit her the most. Something the other weapons could also unlock theoretically but they don’t that’s why Raphtallia is stronger than the usual fighter at her level plus her own natural talen.

When they first were summoned to this world, everyone clearly didn’t understand the importance of a *Tank* on a battlefield.
In mmorpg Most people don't want to party and level up with a tank player since farming normal monster isnt that difficult if you have decent dps build. But once a high level boss appears everyone beg a tank to join their party...
Actually, the three heroes excluding Naofumi have played games that appear to be exact replicas of this fantasy world. Like, it's all the same from the waves to monster habitats down to "NPC" quests. So their beliefs are reinforced time and again: their game knowledge is correct and their decisions should stem from it.
All of these games were poorly balanced and the Shield is seriously useless in all of them. Therefore, none of the other three heroes expects Naofumi to be relevant in any future boss fight.
@@modothegreat108 I agree, they probably thought that since they have the offensive ability, they can dismiss having a tank in their team. They'd be correct if they're as strong as Lar'c.

I thought so too, so I am making a game inspired by this manga. I'm kind of too old to really like all of the cliché anime narratives but I really like the idea of a character who can only use defensive abilities.

Shield: Before we begin however, may I have the priveldge of knowing who is the weakest and strongest of your group? Surely since you all are honorable, you will at least give me this.
Bow: I am the weakest in defence but highest in mobility, while spear has the highest burst damage and sword is balanced in all stats, skills, and abilities, but has the shortest reach.
Shield: Thank you. Alright let's begin.
*Spear, sword, and bow attack with their strongest abilities, (the ones shown when they fought in the wave) while shield puts up his barrier shield, but it doesn't hold, and shield let's out a cry in pain as the attacks decent upon him, leaving nothing but his cloak in the wreckage.*
Spear: HAHAHA Seriously! I knew he was weak but not that weak!!
*Just then, Bow is encased in a shield prison, and Shield then ties a rope around the prison, using it as a giant weight to send spear flying away, knocking both heroes unconscious!*
*Meanwhile Sword tries to close in to hit the shield hero*
Sword: Wha-thats impossible! Take this!
*Sword stabs his blade into shield. While shield flinches, he can easily take the blow thanks to his superior endurance.*
Shield: Hmph, you fell for it!
*Shield gives an evil grin as he holds the blade in himself and brings down the shield prison onto both him and Sword, with Sword looking on in horror*
*But then Shield brings it down only near to them, not on them*
Shield: Heeeeyyyy relax. Its not like I'm gonna kill you. But that surely would have if I allowed it to happen. Me, however, I would've been fine. So...does that mean I win?
*Still dazed, Sword is allowed to remove his weapon from Shield as his legs give out under him, wondering how such a man could be so insane.*
Shield: Great! So I'll just take all your gold then and be off!
*And so he did, leaving everyone thoroughly dazed and confused, and utterly pissed.*
*Shield just meandered off with a wide grin*

@@DkKombo well in the latter arcs his defense is so high that even his hair can't be cut by a sword because he is tougher than steel unless you surpass his defense stat. Also you should wait for one of the seven deadly sins weapon series that naofumi will unlock.

Anyone else hope they release an actual game based on this anime? I always loved the idea of evolving weapons and equipment. Would be fascinating to explore such a skill system.
I would also love a protagonist's player... where 4 heroes are actually a real people... i dont even care if im not one of those heroes...
You should read further later into the light novel "Spoilers warning" up to the point where the heroes share the ability they share like why effect their weapon can have. Their a few more ability the all legendary weapon possessed.
Like you can copy weapon of your type just by scanning it with your weapon. You can also feed the weapon gems. Your weapon is indestructible. Side perks for being a shield hero is that you don't get intoxicated by all alcohol. Etc.
Uh, this is specifically talking about the shields unlocked in V.1 so none of that applies yet since even if Naofumi technically had access to the abilities all along, he won't know about or use them until later. Also footnote, the immunity to alcohol and travel sickness is Naofumi's personal ability that he had even before coming to this world; the Bow hero theorizes it's a superpower which is more common in his version of Japan.
Naofumi was an omega heavyweight before getting isekaied

To those confused on how his skills and effects work, let me break it down best I can
Certain shields possess an ability or abilities that are exclusive to that shield alone and can possible level up the more times he uses it
In the other hand, a skill is a ability not exclusive to the shield, but the user, so something like Air Strike Shield is not exclusive to one shield, but can be used despite less
This is my understanding of it so good luck
Can you explain something to me . Is naofumi is the only one who can absurd loots ?
w_blackandyellow both yes and no, the other hero’s have all the same powers That Naofumi can use, however, due to their different views on how the system works, loot does different things for each hero

Really appreciate the video. I was wondering about a lot of this considering that I haven’t read the manga, like how he unlocks shields, is he taking those unlock steps at every opportunity even when it isn’t shown, and whether he is actually mastering them to gain their permanent stat increases or just jumping between them. Thank you! Also, question: Why did he need to put that crest on Filo to “tame” her? She likes him enough that I would think she would voluntarily stick with him. Also, why did Filo throw such a fit when the crest was put on?

I have a question, out of all the shield he has acquired so far by ep 3, how come the rope shield special skills is the air strike shield? it seems a pretty out of place skill for something like a rope shield would have.
All general skills can be used with any shields iirc. Air Strike Shield is a general skill, hence he can use it with any shield, which is why he uses it even when he doesn't have the rope shield on in episode 3.
Obviously specific skills can still only be used with specific shields.

He doesnt NEED to equip the rope shield to use the skill after he mastered the shield. But there are some shields that have skills that can only be used with a specificshield equiped.
It's never explained why Air Strike Shield was gained from the Rope Shield. It's probably a mystery to the author herself. It might be that it simply added to a shield after a certain amount of them become available.
It`s just unlocked with it because the rope shield was a shield that was unlocked by leveling and not by feeding.
And you have to differ exclusive and regular abilities.
The "grappling hook" of the rope shield is exclusive and the air strike shield is a regular ability which can be used with any equipped shield.
That breath at the end made me think you were joking about ending this abruptly.

You said in the video you didn't know what a Pikyu Pikyu was. According to the wikia it's a fluffy and cute bird like monster. It's feathers were used in Naofumi's Barbarian Armor. "The Pikyu Pikyu feathers can be felt well since they are stuffed full between the duel skin layers." I couldn't find any pictures, though.

Going by the unlock conditions shown in this video for the rope shield, he should also have the magnet shield.

for the truth, the shield hero can use curse abilities for it is very strong but dangerous to the user for it will kill him. He had not mastered all the shield yet in the novel there is more shield to come which he can mimic other shields at least long he has a shield nearby it can copy off the resembled of it. He was able to copy a rune square shield using his abilities so it transforms exact shield. This manga goes hell lot deep and doesn't go through the whole details to it to be.
Well than the volume 1 is covered roughly by the 4 episodes, but he doesn't realize the curse series shield, only unlocks it, I guess they will be one hack of a wild card in his sleeve.
Wait so are all the skills and stuff still there effecting him even if he use a different shield

his final shield level covers a certain area making all allies damage divert to him making him take all the damage making allies invulnerable while stacking a one hit ko damage
The only thing we not see yet, is if he can make a round shape sield and throw it like a frisbee

Feed the shield some tnt and you'll get explosion. Well, he might consider feeding it a bow or sword is fine too.
How do you get the Provoke ability (aggro draw (from Dungeon Siege II) )? He should also have an ability like Tower of Stone from Log Horizon: Invulnerable for a short time, but can't move.
He gets Hate Reaction, a 15m range AoE aggro draw skill that also breaks stealth effects, in the Cal Mira Island Arc. He never gets a Tower of Stone analog, but it also would not be an ability that would work very well in that world as even Absolute Barriers can be busted with Defense Rating Attacks or bypassed with Float Weapon skill attacks.

In that sense one would interpret them as pokemon (especially an outsider to the world they were warped into), and yeah. That doesnt lead to balanced shares of freedom
only a few weeks has passed in the show. raphtalia says in the latest episode that demi humans bodies mature as they level up which is why they arent seen as human.

Sorry if i'm sound ignorant but now i just paid attention to his status in your video but his offensive status are all zero kinda confuse me is that mean he can't deal any damages whatsoever or just the damages is insignificant ?
Risk to rise Very minor damage. When he was fighting the balloons it took forever for him to kill something. However, if he fights stronger monsters he can’t do any damage. The enemy just brushes it off. So I think it depends on the enemy’s defense rating. Since Naofumi’s attack output is so low, he really can’t do any damage to majority of the monsters he find.
Insignificant. He does deal damage, but it takes hours to bring down an enemy.

basically, "so far" his base damage pretty low, but his ability damage (from his shield) could potentially be massive (depend of the abilities).
@@crozraven no, the only damaging abilities he will get will come from the shield of wrath. Thats it. Tho the skills that he gets are OP.

I totally forgot about the pipe prison. It's been a long time since I read the web novel. Mostly what I remember is (spoilers) The Iron Maiden, the weird "beach episode" arc, and the Empire Arc where they met a different hero who was a "reincarnated" person instead of a directly isekai'd person. Also the "totally not a Chocobo" birdies and the giant turtle boss. There was also a few more slaves, party members and contracted monsters as well but the details are hazy. I seem to remember one character always saying "Fueeee!" or something.
