Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.
Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.
But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

Spoiler alert: We learn that Raphtalia is actually royalty of country called Q'ten Lo and the miko attire is that of the royal family. So by wearing it she's basically saying I'm aiming for the throne
@@pyronableyeah but they mostly used that as an excuse to execute her. They actually wanted her dead long before that. This was just an excuse they could use to actually try to assasinate her
I like that they actually addressed that at the end, otherwise it was kind of stupid for them to attack so quickly.
The approach was kinda stupid imo.

This season has been a vast improvement from season 2 in terms of animation, fight sequences, character introductions, and more. Though there are some flaws, but not as much as season 2, and we can agree that a little change in studio production and directors really changed and was able to make for season 2.
Now, with season 3 of Shield Hero coming to a close, it is the end of a chapter, and the end is the new beginning of a new adventure for the heroes and their friends. We shall see you all fellow heroes in the next season.
Hopefully they continue to deliver from this season onwards and keep up with the good work for fans of the series to enjoy.
Let the true rising…begin.

@@Zenos174 Nothing has been announced yet, though the end card of the finale has the 3 in "Season 3" disappear.
Season 2 was slow even as chapters in the LNs, and fans then were not happy. Thankfully we are far outside of that content wise.

Good thing that the Season 4 will start with Q'Ten-Lo arc, as i was fearing that they ended ommiting this arc, and passed inmediately to the Phoenix Wave, as they were talking about that this Wave will happens soon during the Season 3, making me think that the Q'Ten-Lo arc would ended occuring in other time.

@@gemstony85 also they've been observing her her entire life but no one ever noticed any ninjas, even though they have a bunch of crazy strong magic and ki sensitive people in the village... not just that but the plot has been in shambles this entire season, so many coincidences and conveniences randomly happening every single episode

@@vincentlucario5450 absolutely, but they had so many stupidly powerful people in the village, they had so many bs power ups, not just magic but also ki sensitive, also the whole story of raph being royalty just comes completely out of nowhere, they couldn't have chosen to talk about it in a more convenient time.

This season was an improvement compared to Season 2, but the first season was still superior. Many plot points here felt rushed or skipped over, so here's hoping season 4 fixes that when it comes out. They should take their time with it and not rush so it ends up like Season 2.
Agreed. I also have to praise Rishia improvement, she has carries the heroes fight 2 if not 3 times already.
much of the “rushed or skipped” feeling is pretty much a carry over from the utter mess that was s2.
a lot of what is used in s3 should’ve already been shown/properly explained back on s2.
on an additional note, the anime as a whole did a horrendous management of rishia’s character, from her introduction in s1, to what should’ve been her important points during s2 and the big break for her against itsuki in s3
Unfortunately, from what I saw from the Volumes on the wiki of this series, the next season would be the Shield Hero's equivalent of the Wano arc from One Piece. It would focus on the isolated Far-Eastern Island of Q'ten Lo and Raphtalia's battle with the Heavenly Emperor. Unless they would condense the new arc into a half-cour seasonal series, which I wouldn't advise due to the fast pacing of the previous season, don't expect fixed plot points or fulfilled ends (e.g. Malty's comeuppance) in the long term.

His wrath in the anime is pretty subdued compared to what it was in the novels. In the novels when he found out aboutHow this Kingdom was watching raftalia her whole life and allowed all these bad things to happen to her he was beyond p*****
As an anime only whose follower this show since episode 1. To me as someone who loves to take things in. I believe in my opinion his wrath was conveyed well. When I watched the end of season 3 and he was listing off how he doesn’t care they invaded his territory and they were trying to harm raphtalia I immediately recognized they were using his wrath. I thought it was a nice touch and was easy to follow what was going on.

This is the second time this season that they've been just randomly attacked by mysterious thugs with cryptic backgrounds who have an uncanny capacity to lay a wallop on this very powerful party. And all this from just putting on a set of clothes they just happened to pick up in another world entirely.
Don't worry everything will be resolved when every main character just gets a bs power up out of nowhere without any explanation (like Atla and Rishia)

In my opinion, the "Princess Raphtalia" revelation is a bit too cliche. For one thing, it sounds like an excuse to say, "She's a princess? No wonder she's so badass!" The truth is, she'd still be a badass with or without royal blood. Not only that, but it also undermines her sense of agency, as if being a princess makes her destined for greatness. Honestly, her greatness comes from her own perseverance, not from destiny.
The Celestial Empress is a line of very overpowered women with the personality of Saber whose objective was to put the heroes in their place if they acted like idiotic otakus and Raphtalia is the last of them
