One of the best all round trail ATV's IMO, I've seen them go places most wouldn't even try. Regret selling mine that's for sure. Keep up the great videos.
love my wolvy.. its almost 14 years old and still starts up first push of the button
You said for the first time the lines between 4 wheel drive pure utility and 2 wheel drive sport atv were crossed. My point was that Polaris did that years before with the Scrambler. More so than the Wolvy as the Scrambler is actually chain drive to the rear and the Wolverine is shaft. I didnt say anything about the Scrammy being a race quad. I said it is considered a 4x4 sport like the Renegade and the Wolverine 450's. Just pointing out the Scrambler crossed that line first
Great point. I bought my 'Cat used due to low wear and abuse - esp. compared with other ATVS - such as Yamahas - in the area. Wear and abuse is a very critical factor in choosing a used ATV. Since my 'Cat had virtually no abuse to it when I bought it, it has served as a very reliable ATV for both work and play.
@ESP471 Those are much harder to get a hold of. We have these ATV's filmed because our show started back in 1999. Not sure how we could ever get ATVs from that era to test.
I love my wolverine (: 09
450 she a beauty!!
@ilovequads2 Both are reliable so it would depend on which one looks like it's been used harder!
Not sure....Probably about this same year. Go to our website and check out the test years for 2002 and 2003. We have all our ATV Tests listed by model year on the website.
You guys should do a review on a 2006 yamaha wolverine.
i just wish they wouldiv added a 4wd and 2wd switch
just on your opinion since you know about the wolverine and the renegade 800.which atv do you think is the better mud riding atv the Wolverine or the Renegade 800.
@ilovequads2 Not sure how much lighter the Wolverine actually is. But it may not be able to plow as much as the Foreman, but there are trade-offs with everything.
Well it turns out that the foreman is popping in the front end and u have to rock it while pushing on the button to shift out of reverse sometimes. I'm leaning more towered the wolverine now. Since the wolverine is so light, wont it just spin the tires when plowing?
Do these have limited slip differential?
@Numbah893 The Renegade makes a great mud machine - plenty of power.
Which quad would u go for?
The Polaris Scrambler is a sport machine?
@ATVTVCOM u should represent the older atvs prom the 80s 90s
@maracuja363 It depends on what you want a machine to do and how much money you have. I prefer the newer utility models like the Grizzly 550 and 700.
Which atv would be better for the deal?
A 99 honda foreman 450 es with tons of upgrades and a plow n winch for $2500 or an 01 yamaha wolverine stock but with a plow n winch for $2200? Please help!
Which one of them would break down more
i have two wolverines both the older model and i love them but i really want a black one i really like them ill find one soon
So you obviously had forgotten about the polaris Scramblers in your first comment about sport 4x4's
wasn't the first year for both 1995?
@ilovequads2 If they were both brand new I'd choose the Foreman. But since they are not (and I can't see them to judge their condition) it is impossible to make that decision - considering that they would need to be looked over and judged for wear and abuse.
Is it 4x4 all the time or can you switch it
I consider a sport machine a 2wd long-travel, lightweight ATV that can be raced.
But that's just my narrow opinion ;-)
@ESP471 ok thanks for the coment
@PolarisIndyPower Pretty sure it's full-time 4wd.
i just bought one that looks identical to the one in this video 03 and everything, its pretty sweet, like new really gonna put her in the mud tomoro.
I remember when i was 4 my dad and i drove over a huge log in this
at the beginning of your videos what size and year is the red arctic cat??? is there a test of it somewhere???
I have a 06 wolverine 450.
@ilovequads2 The ES is a better utility ATV and the Wolverine a bit more fun on the trails.
i have 2 350 4x4 hondas 2006 and i like my yamaha wolverine best
All our reviews were done when the ATVs were new.
Thats why Dirts wheels has done shoot outs between the Scrambler, Wolverine and Renegade. it beat out the Wolverine but not the Renegade. All considered sport 4x4's
Wolverine was weak havin the All Time 4WD but oh how I miss Solid Axle Utes.
Yes limited slip - a weak limited slip.
@ATV.COM I TRADED A 05 kx250f for a 05 wolverine with a trans kit bath where takin good care of and where in good condition do you think that was a good trade I feel it was but wanted your opinion
Sounds like a good trade to me!
thanks for your imput
My dad has one of these, I kid you not, these things are mountain goats I have not found a hill it will not go up. Literally a trail blazer.
@cory135310 Naw, you have to PAY for a job like this!
1:14 OH SHIT!
Um yes. there are no racks unless you put them on aftermarket. It has always been considered a 4x4 sport machine. Just like the Renegades.
I own both, I just picked up the Wolverine 03' just like this one. I prefer the Semi auto and smaller size of the Wolvy but The scramblers 4x4 is off or on the fly and the Scrammy is alot faster and more powerful and better suspension. so its a really toss up, so...... I'll just keep both!
I have a 2002 350 4x4 wolverine but it has a brake problem :,(
Okay, got it....missed the point there.
@MRATVRIDER13 We never test for top speed. Sorry.
honda is still good
