I like that you explain the logic behind it. I have myself been thinking that the 4x4 balancer had two balancers two much, although I also wasn't dumb enough to believe that I know more than most of the factorio community and just assumed I didn't understand why. Thanks for the explanation.
Sadly I must say it feels like you drag the video out longer than necessary just to crack that magic 10 min mark which makes it a bit of a drag to watch :/
Glad you liked it and learned something along the way!
Actually its quite the opposite im trying to cover everything UNDER 10min (I don't much care for youtubes magic 10min mark rule). Most of these short tutorials are recorded 2 or 3 times for me to get everything out of my mouth in the right order and down from a 15min video to just 10min. (or close enough to 10min)
@@JDPlays id like to see sebastian cover everything you did in less time hahaha
Because you grabbed a BP and started using it wrong, doesn't mean the balancer is working incorrectly.
The last one is OBVIOUSLY 50% throughput and DESIGNED that way, as you are going from 4 to 2 lanes in the pass over. That does not require testing but just common sence.
I see this happen a lot, people blaming blueprints (that they grabbed of the internet or wherever themselves) for not working right while they are the ones that are implementing them wrong.
hate to break it to you, but there are actually 4 lanes in the passover, 2 of them are underground
@@pocarski Are you joking here, or are you just really that dense?
The 2 underground belts are going the other way, so its a 4:2 per side, or 8:4 total. Either way it's a multitude of a 2:1 ratio, resulting in 0.5x possible throughput on the pass over.
PS. knowing basic math solves 99% of all problems this game has to offer.
In fact, it might still not be clear to some, merging 50% throughput from both 4 lane bus sides actually balances the 4 lane buses.
It doesn't balance the individual lanes, but the total amount of items on either of the 4 lanes will be equal WITHOUT limiting the TOTAL throughput.
This bassicly comes down to the same point as made earlier:
*Dont complain about or use BP's if you are to dense to understand their function.*

About this nice 8-8 balancer that is not perfect. What happens if you connect two of them in the series? You can stack them very close to each other and even overlap input-output splitter in the middle where they join as they do the same thing, so it will not cost 2x but maybe 1.8x only. It will not improve the ultimate throughput limit but can mix things a bit better.
Mixing is something Intentionally dont cover, as most balancers dont mix things well, the idea is they will take 8 belts in and 8 belts out or 8 belts in and 7 belts out, taking 7/8ths from each of the input lines
Exectly the explanation I was looking for. Thank you
that is nice to know. I have the same problem with my 8 lane balancer doing that.
Do you have blueprint string for that 8 belt one?

Is this still all still valid? I only ask because I recall that Factorio redid splitters, but I don't recall specifically how?
Yes all still valid, I think the only core changes since this video is the splitters have a very small internal buffer now, and also have filters on them
I didn't get it... like, what is that doing? oh well, guess I'll play the dumb way and figure it out.
Is there a mod list?
Mr. NoName Gaming oh for these tutorial series, umm time tools (slows down time), upgrade planner (changes belt colours quickly), and creative mode (a semi sandbox mode for the game).
I think thats all i used.
Ok, Thx :D
God bless you man

huh
Jesus Christ, you need some exercise.
