    It came out great. Sometimes expectations can ruin our appreciation of a good result. Your hair was egg yolk yellow before. No toner can turn that white, too much pigment.

    You said you were looking for t18. But, t18 literly only works when your hair is already a pretty white blonde. So I think, in my opinion, this toner worked amazing for you especially for the fact your hair was super yellow/orange. But it deff worked better then a t18 toner would have...

    • @Allyson6C
      @Allyson6C Рік тому +2

      Hi Courtney, with all due respect, the person who replied before is correct, Wella T-18 is indeed a toner. The T used in Wella’s color system stands for Toner (not to mention is says it’s a toner right on the box).
      Toners generally aren’t meant to change the hair color so much as they’re meant to change or correct the TONE (although using a 20 vol developer with your toner can lighten hair further when/if necessary). Most professionals use a 10vol developer as it provides a shinier healthier finish & avoids further damage. It’s important to get the hair lightened to right level before toning - using a 20 vol developer with toner can provide a safeguard if hair requires 1 more level of lightening in order for the toner to show up as desired. In most cases it’s unnecessary to use a 20vol while toning. Most toner are not permanent, even when it says T-18 permanent toner because toners don’t penetrate the hair the way a permanent color does.

    Question, do you usually use a 10 volume developer with your wells toners?
    Also when using wella toner do you usually use it on damp or dry hair?
    I’m curious bcz I know what the instructions say but most pros use a 10 vol on damp hair. So I’m just wondering what you usually do w/your wella toners to get your desired platinum white results. 😊

    I love that this toner goes on dry hair resulting in a much more even color. Toners applied to damp hair sometimes look blotchy because your hair doesn’t hold water evenly throughout the hair strand. This was probably the best result you were going to get with how orange your hair was to start. you definitely would’ve had to bleach your hair much lighter to get the platinum affect you were looking for. T18 would have done almost nothing.

    • @Allyson6C
      @Allyson6C Рік тому +4

      Actually using a toner on damp hair is the very reason why toners end up evenly toning. It’s too detailed for me to explain exactly how it works but bottom line - hurry up and get toner applied quickly & evenly. If the mid shaft & ends are dry, apply toner to the roots 1st (quickly) & then add to mid shaft & ends last bcz the dry hair grabs pigment faster & holds on to it much more than healthy roots. Having damp hair helps to ensure the mid shaft & ends won’t grab too much pigment resulting in an uneven toning result. It’s not much different from how you’d color hair being careful not to have darker mid shaft & ends.

    • @Allyson6C
      @Allyson6C Рік тому +1

      But you’re right, her hair was not light enough in many spots to get the platinum results of T18. Plus sh should’ve used the 20 vol instead of 10 vol. it might’ve given the extra lift she needed. Even wells toners call for a 20 vol developer.

    I realize this is an old vid but is it possible it didn’t “burn” or tone to that platinum shade the way Wella T-18 Toner can is because you didn’t use the 20 volume developer it says to use on the box? Maybe it would’ve given that little extra lift needed? It looks like it got close on the lower half of your hair - where it was more porous.
    Pros use 10vol on damp hair to tone like you said & oddly Wella & ion toners say to use 20 vol developer to tone🤨. Anyway I love your beautiful blunt haircut - it suits you.

My under layers that got done last are a really nice pale blonde. But the rest that had it in the longest has too much Grey/silver tone, and it looks like a weird ashy white lol.it doesn't look baaad, but it's not too great either lol. Toners do not lift your hair color. They only add warmth, cool, or neutral tones. T18 from wella would have done the same thing, and it’s a permanent color. You cannot get a level 10-11 blonde from a toner if your hair is at a 8-9. Pale yellow means barely any yellow. Like almost white.

  • @metalbunnE
    @metalbunnE 10 місяців тому

    Maybe if you used a 20vol it would of lifted it plus canceling the yellow. My hair isn't as yellow as yours was but I think I will use a 20vol with snow cap. Aiming for a silvery pale ash platinum blonde with no golds..but avoiding the roots because I don't like all solid one color. I have natural dark ash blonde and didn't bleach but lifted my hair to about a 9. I really want to keep that ash/silver color in there because it's so beautiful! If people have sensitive hair and scalps... I would NOT recommend Wella whatsoever! Ion is your best approach. I've tried wella and I didn't even get the results I was aiming for but it was okay, not even close. My hair was more damaged from Wella and Ion has never done that to me. I never touched the stuff again! No offense! I like the color your hair turned even though it's not as light as you wanted. I just don't understand why you'd go through that whole process only to keep it for a little bit lol. I have plum under my hair too and after I get the right shade of blonde I am applying plum streaks everywhere and plan to keep it as long as possible!
