Lovely Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you considered - Dinanlinson Bright Colour Approach (probably on Google)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to get your natural hair color back minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my close friend Aubrey finally got astronomical results with it.
As a hairdresser, this is the 1st video I've ever seen on youtube where the average person took sections. Bravo, that's why you ended up with thorough saturation.
It is easy to take sections when you have long hair. But what if you have a pixie cut? I find it hard to do the roots with my pixie cut and I went to hairdressers who overlapped a lot because of my short hair so I am doing it at home.but it is impossible for me to section it as it is 3cm long only.
LOL I used her method and it worked! A year later I went to a salon nearby with a perfect 5 star rating, and they RUINED my hair. Couldn't even get all of the yellow out. Not even after the second visit with the OWNER>
@@bellar4484 yes absolutely. The coconut oil is totally unnecessary. If she hadn't used it she probably would have just gotten to the shade she wanted without bleaching twice lol
Coconut oil has a low Molecular weight, thus allowing it to penetrate the hair shaft. This helps the hair maintain protein that would be otherwise lost in the hair when bleaching. With more protein surviving after the chemical process, The hair shaft does not expand and contract since it is full; meaning there is less chance of breakage and only the pigment had been bleached. Using an 100% organic coconut oil is best, since it is organic; like ur hair, the bleach will penetrate it, but at a slower pace. If your are not fast or a professional, this trick she is showing you allows you to take your time and get a consistent/safe result. ALTHOUGH, application of the coconut oil should be applied 30mins before you bleach (minimum, I prefer 2 hrs and using a volume 30 for black to blond). This is the best video I have see on how to safely DIY bleach your hair, Bravo !
This might sound like a dumb question... If you were to bleach all of your hair, would u just apply it normally to then ends or would you do the ends and roots at separate times? I assume once you do the roots you do the ends as well but I just want to double check... Im going coral pink here in a few weeks and I am a little nervous to be doing it all myself... :p
I’m a licensed cosmetologist and honestly I have almost no complaints for this video..Almost. If you’re bleaching at home, or using any sort of chemical- you need to wear gloves. Chemical burns aren’t pretty, people tend to forget to think of bleach as the chemical that it is and it can do SERIOUS damage.
I completely agree with this but this makes me wonder, how can it then be safe to apply to the scalp, and even worse, twice? I have done this before and had blisters on my scalp (both when I did it at home and when I went to several different professionals), which is why I choose not to be blonde anymore.
Gwen Tegels there are special formulations of bleach that is specifically for on the scalp application, but me personally -in order to get the proper lift- I use foils between the hair itself and the scalp. You get maximum lift, because of the heat produced from the scalp incubating into the foil and you’re protecting your skin ❤️ very good question
GrahamQuest in some ways yes and in others no. The oil actually coats the hair, protecting it from some damage but it also keeps the bleach from penetrating the hair strand itself. If you’re using bleach at home I would advise to use an oil barrier as a bit of a safety net. But coming from a professional, it’s always better (in my opinion) to go to a salon or to a local stylist to get your hair done, yes it will be more expensive but you have better chances of your hair being less damaged, of it turning out the way you want it to and of protecting yourself from chemical burns/rashes ❤️ I wish you luck!!!
From a stylist stand point I know so many people who can’t afford to go to a salon for insane prices So I will recommend specific products and what to do and not to do so they can at least do it safely I’ve even went over to peoples houses to teach them how Yes it’s money out of my pocket and one less client but I’m not about the money I’m about making people feel beautiful Doing hair at home isn’t that bad And coconut oil does help hair keep integrity it’s close enough to olaplex
Thank you for your honesty. I've been doing my hair at home for 10yrs now but will get it cut professionally. And I'm always willing to take tips. But this time I've gotten a great to go to a salon to get my hair done and my daughters done as well so she can donate for kids with cancer. It's now just past her bum and I'm in NJ so I'm on here for many reasons.lol
Ooh. Yeah. So I get why she wouldnt go to her bleached edges with this only touch up the roots, but could this process work if you have not previously bleached it and want to go from dark brown natural to blonde?
This was an incredibly helpful video. I bleached my hair and it came out yellow (after toning). I watched your video, covered my head in coconut oil and repeated the bleaching and toning process. My hair is an icy platinum blonde. Thanks again!
Yeah first day its perfectly covered and next day you notice its already got a millimeter of dark brown hair and next thing you know your hair needs bleached
Just a tip for everyone doing ANY kind of hair color or bleach: put Vaseline around the edges of your face or anywhere you think may get a graze of hair, I know it feels icky but it will protect your skin from either damage of bleach, or getting colored due to the dye. Hope this helps someone!
Jamie Roberts thank god somebody knows about this! All I'm seeing is bleaching/dying videos of girls without Vaseline or a thick cream on the perimeter... that makes me cringe
Nini LaRouge IKR?! Like oh no baby what is you doing? That's one of the first tips I learned but I don't see anyone doing it ever. It's a simple step, to save people a lot of time scrubbing, lets say, RED off of their ears and neck! 😆and it moisturizes, so ya can't go wrong. 😂
Have used this method for my grow out every time since finding this video. My hair comes out perfect every time, no shadow line or anything. Thank you for posting and helping make my silver hair dreams come true
I know your comment was 2 years age but did you bleach yours 2 times and if so what color is you natural color I'm not hear to judge just asking a question I want my hair like this I did it only but forgot what toner I used
kaitlyn xo wait a few months. I literally just had to cut off all my hair because I bleached it lmao it was stretching and breaking off and not even like growing longer because it just broke off and shit.
steph I think her hair is just naturally thin, and the coconut oil helps prevent some of the damage. Obviously if you bleach your hair often, it's not healthy. But cutting off the dead ends and using coconut oil helps it to /look/ okay
This is the video I go to over and over again to remind myself how to do this. Not only that, it’s the BEST video I have yet to find with product, technique, clarity, and true life results that I have found in years and so many, many hours of searching for answers. I dont make enough to get professionals to do what I want, and I am capable of doing it myself. $30 of product, my own time and ability, and I can finally achieve the look I want for myself. I do the steps, I trust the process, and I get a beautiful pale hair color that is perfect for applying fun colors that pop. If adding colors on top of the bleached/toned white-ish color, add a splash or more of white conditioner to the color of your choice to create more product and lighten the hue. Great for getting pastel colors by tweaking the ratio of conditioner to dye color (increase conditioner amount to dye color amount). I’ve never gotten the at home results of vibrant and clear color until I preceded the process with the directions of this video. I have hair so dark it’s mistaken for black, but it’s just an intensely dark brown - and this works wonders! Thank you for this tutorial! You’ve saved me SO much money and headache!
What I'm seeing throughout the comments and the video: 1. Coconut oil: It is similar to Olaplex so do use it, BUT you should apply it overnight so it would be absorbed better without blocking the lightening. 2. Two sessions: It's healthy to have multiple sessions, but with this brand and her roots, she could've done one session. But it was easier to do two to get it even (though, again, possible with one). 3. Lightness of hair: This is a tutorial HOWEVER, she does have about a level 7 hair which is not everyone so take caution doing this. 4. Gloves: USE GLOVES even when mixing and not applying 5. Consistency: Use ratios and measure things instead of "pudding" or "jello" because you're bleaching hair. Unless you don't mind going bald, be precise for your own sake.
@@ajhuser1 you shouldn't apply the bleach on your scalp. The heat conducts the bleach, so if you apply near your roots is enough. Hallf centimeter or something like that is good, your roots will be bleached and it won't touch your scalp
Just want you to know that because of your video, I've been bleaching my hair to a white platinum for over a year using your method! Only thing I changed was that I start with a 20 vol then I gradually go into a 30 (because my hair is darker than yours). I also switched the coconut oil with a redken extreme hair mask just because the oil made the bleaching a bit blotchy but the hair mask protects really well. Thanks for making this very easy to follow. People ask me all the time where I get my hair done and I love being able to say I do it myself!
Sandwoman the higher the volume number, the faster it processes. 30 is a bit harder to control than 20 so it can damage your hair more if you accidentally overprocess. I personally do my bleachings a day a part which isn’t recommended by stylists. Just be careful, use hair mask treatments before bleachings and start with a 20 to see how your hair and scalp react
Gurlll you're so brave, I bet that scalp was literally lit 😂 but it turned out so even, so icy, so beautiful! Most people would be too afraid to bleach the roots twice so they'd just tone them but it always ends up patchy and the brassiness quickly creeps in. Loved this video :)
Same. I ruined my hair in high school with my dumbassery, going as far as bleaching up to 3-4 times in 2 days using 30vol and 40vol. Never again. Took my long hair 2 1/2 years with constant trimmings to get it all back to 100% virgin hair. Another trick for the scalp if you itch during the processing is to add two packs of Sweet N' Low sugar (the little pink packs) with your bleaching powder before mixing it up with the developer. It helps a lot. Nowadays, I have a short disconnected pixie cut, so I can play with colors more often (I'm at a white color right now with silver hues). With bleaching, though, the dirtier the hair ... the better it will do so I can go up to 4 days without washing without it being noticeable. By the 3rd day, I apply coconut oil really lightly to my roots. If I am not going anywhere that day, I apply it early in the morning and sleep in it later that night while it's wrapped. Then the next day I will slather it all in coconut oil an hour before bleaching, and my hair turns out fine. I'm not really a fan of double processing at home in one day as shown in this video, though, as once is damaging enough as it is no matter how much Olaplex and coconut oil one uses, so I'd suggest finding a good bleach that can lift 7-9 levels in one go (my favorite is the Schwarzkopf Blondme line which hasn't failed me yet), because when you tone afterwards, most toners that require developer will add more damage (why I favor toners that use 7vol)....so the less bleaching is better if you plan to tone, or at least use the soap cap/bleach bath method if you HAVE to lighten your hair a bit more a couple days after the first bleaching.
instead of paying $150-$200 to get this professionally done, i’m only paying $40. thank you so much! i’m also adding wella color charm 050 to give it an even cooler violet look
Really enjoyed this video, as a hairdresser my only reccomendation when colouring especially bleaching hair is to always start with the back sections xx
Hmmmm strange because iv always started at the top/ front with every colour wether it's foiling or full head or root regrowth because it's colder on the top of your head than underneath so takes that tad longer to process than underneath because of warmth of your neck and hair it's in a confined space so generates heat more quickly so by time you get to the nape the overall colour will be processing evenly rather than underneath being over processed and causing breakage 😣 I see that a hell of alot in the whole 15 years of my hairdressing career . Just my opinion love and sharing it from years of experience I'm most definitely not trying to pull you down on your comment just my opinion ❤
Most simple and effective tutorial I have encountered! I wish I had discovered this tutorial when I began dying my hair. This is the shade I have always longed for and after three years of getting my hair done at professional salons and coloring my hair myself with unsuccessful results, I finally have the icy platinum blond hair shade I have always wanted! Endless gratitude.
I know! I've been to at least 5 different high end salons in Nashville, and not 1 could achieve the platinum icy white hair color I wanted. Some weren't even willing to try because they didn't want to bleach anyone's hair. Really...that's your job! If you don't know how to use bleach safely, find another profession. I ended up having to teach myself, which took a lot of trial and error, but I did it, and it is perfect. I was utterly shocked when I started this process that I couldn't find a salon in Nashville (hello!!! Music capital of the world) that had a professional colorist who could achieve this color. I want hologram hair now, but I'll have to fly to NY or LA to get that done. They obviously can't even use bleach here!
Omg I'm having the same experience right now. Went to 4 hairdressers and I'm out more then 450 euro and I'm left looking orange yellow blonde.. Im like a walking coloring book so here i am looking at UA-cam videos 😂
Hey! Thanks for this tutorial I followed it to the T and my hair came out PERFECT BEAUTIFUL platinum! I just wanted to add to your info. After I toned my hair with the t18 wella color charm and went to wash it out I used a dime size amount of Fanola no orange shampoo. Its blue pigmented so while the wellas purple color cancels the yellow the blue pigment in the shampoo cancelled out any remaining orange. Thank you so much!
I always bleach my hair , but now I notice in the ends especially, it's turning orangey . What can I do ? And also, I watched video and you put 5 minutes on timer for toner. But then said for last 5 minutes put it on the rest of hair. So how long is toner to be on?
Stephanie Keifert use a purple or blue shampoo to minimize brass tones that build up on hair from product about once to every other week depending on how often you shampoo.
Be careful with the Walmart bag!! I once saw a girl who ended up with “Walmart” upside down in her hair because the bleach pulled it from the bag and then it stuck to her hair😂😂
Lol all the people telling her what not to do with her hair when she already did it and her hair looks beautiful and healthy and did not fall out or anything😂😂 though I am really scared of bleaching roots...
True but its good to warn other people who have not done these types of things/steps before so they don't just expect the idea to flat out work for them especially since everyone different. I do get where you're coming from and they are just putting in their info to be a little snooty and because they're bored but it's nice to know both sides I think
@@kaelynrichardson5275 That was all new growth, amazingly healthy virgin hair. It can take more than you would think. It took four rounds of strong lightener to ruin the four or five inches of hair on top of my head which I never did treatments on.
Daniel Wright I know it’s new growth but that’s not the point I’m making. I’m saying that her ends could have damage as well without them knowing. You never know how healthy hair is until you run your fingers through it.
Correction! I didn’t blow dry my hair yesterday and then this morning when I woke up my hair looks phenomenal gorgeous the most beautiful platinum color. It just looked dark after I toned because it was wet, but it looks phenomenal. My hair has never looked so good. I am in love! Thank you so much for this video.
amazing she was able to do it on her own and not miss a single piece. BUT for those of us with 5x as much hair, unrealistic to do on our own. great job on u tho!
Thanks !! That's nice to hear. It probably didn't look as good the first few times I did it, haha but almost 3 years in now I feel good. The reason I even started doing my own was that I went to 3 or 4 professionals and every one of them hacked it up and failed to get it platinum/ didn't know how... so I figured I'd just do it myself haha.
The best video on bleaching I have seen, relaxed, no weird lengthy chit chat, people trying to be funny, etc etc...and what beautiful hair at the end!, thank you x
Love this tutorial. I bleached my hair last week. I did not know you could do so twice. I will do again tomorrow, with no coconut oil. A day or two latter I am doing Wella T18. I am so excited. I started to view like six others and could not get through 10 to 15 seconds. Yours is far and above all else. You are beautiful and the color looks FABULOUS...
I always start in the back area work my way to the front and mixing fresh bleach helps too. I think once bleach starts to expand in the bowl it doesn't process as well in the hair. The bleach should expand while on the hair. My hair has been much more consistent after making those changes
So it seems like she has already bleached most of her hair and is just touching up her roots. For anyone who wants to bleach all of their hair, bleach your hair accept your roots and move up to your roots. The closer your hair is to your scalp the warmer your hair is which makes the bleach process faster. This is so that when you dye your hair it looks more "natural" because roots are usually darker than the rest of your hair. Just a little tip ;)
Okay, so I've finally tried it. I have a little more hair, so I had to make a few solutions (followed your measurements and exact products, though) and I did it twice in the same day. Then I toned it (had to use two whole bottles-- used the same ones as you), and it came out beautifully!! AhhhH! Thanks for this video. It's the first time I can say that a UA-cam hair bleaching/toning video actually worked for me.
OH YAY! So glad to hear.... and ya I used the full bottle first time round and it's good you measured, I've been doing it for years so I'm used to the measurements ! But so cool glad to turned out the way you wanted it !! YAY YAY
Best tutorial I’ve seen so far! I used all of the products you listed and my hair came out perfectly! I’m so thankful I found this because I’ve been bleaching my own hair for years but could never get it completely right and this did it for me so thanks!
Me too!! I want to do Narcissa Malfoy hair but I’m hella scared because I’m really uneducated about the upkeep. This is the first video I stumbled upon in my research rabbit hole so wish me luck. If you do end up doing it, I hope everything works out
you pull of the icy white SO well giiiirl, thanks for this! And great idea with the coconut oil, bleach is damaging to the hair so any and all protection is fantastic.
This looks amazing girl!! I have this hair colour and have been going to the salon for 9 years to get my roots done. I'd never have the guts to do it myself
I gotta try this. I do hair professionally and u never thought to use coconut oil as a barrier. there's a product called Olaplex that's great to use when bleaching to save the integrity of the hair, but it's expensive. I'll have to see if the coconut oil works as well. awesome job! just because you're not "pro" per industry doesn't mean you don't know what you're doing. how do they think most of us get started, I'm proud to be a "kitchen beautician". since you've been doing this so long you may already know about it, but they have purple shampoos just for blonde hair to take that gold brassy tone out too. great video!
Tamara Talbert As someone who does hair "professionally", you should know that coconut oil does nothing for the hair, except make it feel oily. The coconut oil cannot be absorbed into the hair, so it just sits there, and then doesn't let other products work.
Actually my hair is co.pletely damaged like gum before I went pure magenta and I use bleach on myself 2 months later I been using coconut I bleached and toned my hair 3x bleach and 1 x toner same day 4 hours took me to get from purple pink hair to blonde and I'm surprised my hair didn't fall off only thing was my scalp burned a lot headache from chemical but not even a single hair fell so I'm guessing the coconut oil helped that's the only thing I been using for 1 month before I bleached this month so too me it works
Coconut oil will do nothing but help block damage. It will not re-construct the hair. I think using the coconut oil is the same idea as using a conditioner or OlaPlex number two on the hair you’re trying to avoid overprocessing
And that is why I always consult my hairdresser. He knows best, studied for it and knows what is possible with my hair and it's texture. I have bleached my hair myself for the very first time, but even when I go to my hairdresser... I make sure my hair and scalp are 'dirty' and the bleach won't burn my skin too much (sensitive skin). I know what I can do and I take my hairdresser's advice very seriously. After all, he rather sees healthy hair then have anyone come in to get their hair 'fixed' after a big fail due to misinformation or careless acting.
I really enjoy the way your personality shines!! Thank you for this informative video. I just went from level 5 to level 10 white blonde because of your video and I LOVE my hair. Only difference is that my hair is long ... down to my shoulder blades. I am so appreciative of your instructions. Thank you!!!!
For people with sensitive skin, or weaker hair I highly suggest you don't bleach your hair twice so close together. If it's your first time doing it yourself do it once for 30 minutes max I would say, then see what you're hair is like over the next couple shampoos. Get to know what works for your hair. When I started dying my hair at home I did almost this exact process except without the coconut oil. My skin is sensitive and reacted badly to the toner after already having been sensitized from being exposed to bleach. (This did happen when I went to the salon as well) However when I did it at home it really didn't do anything because my hair wasn't lightened enough. I decided to never do toner again and I just do color now. At one point I lifted my hair to a very very light blond and "toned" it using a mixture of mostly white conditioner and a dime sized dab of purple demi-permanent dye from n'rage for 5 minutes. It came out a silver violet. Then I used a light purple conditioner to maintain for a few weeks until I wanted to do a different color. Also I use a cream bleach from Ion designed to go on the scalp and that's conditioning (as much as bleach can be I guess lol). The powder stuff scares me since I can't measure it properly and especially because of my sensitive skin. Never had a problem with the cream bleach.
I know this comment is 2 years old but yes! thank you! I've been doing my roots at home and the toner burns my scalp so bad after bleaching. I've been search the internet for an alternative to toner and glad I found this! thank you!
@@Flirkinn heck yeah! You're welcome! Its a great, non damaging way to tone a light blond. Not sure where you live, but where I am (Alberta, Canada) the purple from N'Rage is discontinued. But I can find it online still. It's the best purple I have found for pigmentation and longevity. Most others seem to suck. If anyone sees this and has another brand of purple suggestion that would be cool. That being said, using the process of white conditioner with a small amount of purple to "pastelize" it should still work with other dark purples that are semi or preferably demi-permanent colors.
I was interested to see the bleach break threw the coconut oil. I'm a stylist. One time I had a girl come in with the coconut on her hair already and it formed a barrier and did not come out well. But she had a shit load of oil on her hair, maybe is to way. Glad to see it worked on this girl.
Chubby Cake it helps a bit I've noticed... I think it soothes my hair and I've read it does help with a bit of protection. It's a nice (and successful) hair mask afterwards to sleep in. But what I mainly use it for in my bleaching process is to make the sectioning and application easier. I've done it a ton before without coconut oil and it would get so messy with dry hair and wetting your hair isn't good so coconut oil does both protect and put nutrients into the hair and it makes it super easy to apply to bleach!!!
SUTTON GROVE I've bleached for years and just recently went to a level 12 cool blonde hi lift color. I found that coconut oil for me i didn't have to leave bleach on as long. It worked like a boost to process faster.
Chubby Cake bleach will eat through hair , coconut oil will slow the damaging effect while the bleach is working , i tried it before and it does help , i spent 4 years bleaching my roots every 16 days to maintain the platinum . Olaplex is better because its designed especially to help with the process . If you want to bleach here is a few things you can do : have a VERY dirty hair and oily scalp , coconut oil if your hair is clean . Bleach with low developer ( max 20 ) use blue bleach not white , try not to use heat at all & never use coconut oil or have dirty hair if you want to dye your hair , you will have a horrible uneven colour
The best video about bleaching and toning. Coconut oil recommendation is a life safer tip. I bleached my hair twice one day apart, and thanks to the tip, I got '0' damage. Thank you for sharing:)
omg THANKS SO MUCH. my hair is the same colour as your roots were, i never knew what developer to use but i tried with 30 vol and it left a yellow tint to it. even after i used a toner it wouldnt take to the yellow hair because it wasnt lightened enough. i dyed my hair blue after that but since the roots were still yellow tinted a part of the blue became the ugliest green. and seeing that you did it twice with 20 volume and the toner took well and seeing how perfect it looks afterwards has definitely gave me some insight on how to bleach my new roots! im going to try that next and im sure i will have much better results. thank you!
Kirstyn Lila oh yes do it !! Ya... it was trial and error too for me cause I did the same so often and it wasn't light enough even after the toner. I sometimes end up even doing it a 3rd time just to get any spots that may have not gotten light enough. I found doing 20 a couple times is better on my hair (even though it takes longer...) but ya definitely try it and let me know how it goes whenever you do!!!
It's not the product's fault your undertone is yellow, most people will lift to either a yellow-based level 8 or a brassy-based level 7. If you did it yourself, you probably used the wrong toner. If you want white and your undertone is yellow, you use a purple toner, if you want white and your undertone is brassy or orangey, you use a blue toner. plus, never go over pre-lightened hair, as you can cause the hair to become overly porous and permanently damage the hair cuticle. If you're serious about keeping a healthy head of hair as well as achieving pale delicate colors, i suggest going to a licensed cosmetologist who actually knows what they are doing.
I've gone to licenced cos salons that have years of experience that still managed to ruin my hair with color/bleach/highlights... I learned to do it on my own with better results and easier on the wallet...great video!!
Thanks for the video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my close friend Aubrey at last got cool results with it.
I'm very grateful for you and this video! Thank you very much, this really works 100%, I've tried it and it's very helpful and informative. I have colored my hair at the salon for 17 years. My hair stylist moved a year ago and it hasn't been as bright ever since. I love all my hair stylists, but wanted to try myself. This video is also organized, very neatly and professionally. Don't be shocked if you doing this yourself at home isn't as neat. If you're doing it the first time like me, the entire room and bathroom were unorganized. Scalp will also tingle on both times. My color came out though excellent following all the steps in the video. I don't think I will go back to the salon to have it colored, only for other services. Thank you again! P.S. Make sure to use clothing you don't mind getting dirty! It also took me approximately under 4 hours to complete both processes (after waiting an hour to start the second process). Again, very helpful, informative and an extremely bright result. Hair bright, soft, smooth and healthy. Thank you! Sending love and hugs!
lol I've always thought about doing it on someone else (my own friend has platinum blonde and always says that too) but I feel like I'd be scared to screw it up and be responsible haha.
Great video! Very informative in a short period of time. The coconut oil idea is genius. Although I would wear gloves and I usually just do a one time application of 40 volume for like 40 minutes to get the desired result on my hair. I only touch up like once every 2-3 months to avoid frying my hair though and then condition and do hair masks like crazy and only shampoo once a week after that.
Never put 40 vol on your scalp, it will give you severe burns. The most I'd put is a 30 vol, but even that isn't ideal. It's much wiser to do two rounds of 20 vol
Gleeta Austin I am a Master Colorist at Richmond Virginia's Fantastic Sam's Cut and Color Salon As a Manager I Have to say I agree with her disclaimer below, as a Licensed Professional for viewers I Agree with her advice as well in the description as she states more than once, PLEASE dont try this at home unlicensed, AND without experience! That being said Now.. *as a human being I say *You go girl!!!* You blew this out the box and I'm impressed by your tutorial! You should think about becoming a stylist you already have experience, drive gifted knowledge Lol! This was a great video in my opinion! Add oliplex to your formula, for the health of your hair & and once more you go girl!🤩😍🤩😍🤩
Thanks so much for this video. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a straight forward video that's both informative and straight to the point. I'm a newby blonde. Platinum and all my own work in Lock down. I have a hairdresser who has been able to supply me with products so I don't use shop bought but direction and guidance is not a strong point so it has been frustrating. Thank you
I love this video. Idk if people say this or not but I wanted to thank you for just getting into it and posting your tutorial and blog separately. This way I can read your post faster and then just watch the video when I’m ready to dye.
It's super important to note that you do NOT want to stimulate the scalp and open the pores on your head before bleaching!!! In this process she starts out using two steps that involve stimulation: brushing in coconut oil then combing it through. These are great steps but be sure to do your best Not to drag the brush and comb across your scalp. If you do the pain from the bleach application can be 100x worse than need be!
Loved this! Great video…. It explains how to do it so simply and clearly…and her hair turned out beautiful !🤩 and the music was awesome 👏🏼 Thank you for sharing!!🥰👏🏼
She has managed to do something from home that I have NEVER seen any hairstylist/hairdresser do in a salon! They never ever get it right. She needs to open up a shop, I'd go to her.
Thank you so much for this video! I was starting to develop a weird allergy to bleach but after I tried coating my scalp (and my whole hair) with coconut oil it stopped for good! The oil really does a great job of protecting the scalp.
I just love that she's not talking and babbling nonsense like all other videos AND that it's under 10 minutes AND informative AND I love the music!!
Not the music
Not the music..for me🙅🏻♀️ everything else I enjoy
Most videos are 10 minutes or longer because that's the best way creators can get paid for what they put out.

As a hairdresser, this is the 1st video I've ever seen on youtube where the average person took sections. Bravo, that's why you ended up with thorough saturation.
So, um, since you’re a hairdresser, do you recommend this video because I’m scared of dying my hair lmao.
the_devil yeah dyeing isnt bad bleaching is bad so make sure you bleach uour hair correctly
Xanlias R omg tysm I didn’t expect a reply lol 💕
It is easy to take sections when you have long hair. But what if you have a pixie cut? I find it hard to do the roots with my pixie cut and I went to hairdressers who overlapped a lot because of my short hair so I am doing it at home.but it is impossible for me to section it as it is 3cm long only.

I have no intention of ever going platinum blonde, but still watched this video from start to end lol
I don't know you but i think (if thats you in your pic) you'd look beautiful with platinum blonde!
@@unbotheredaj7127 I would do it if it didn't mean frying my hair lol. My hair is naturally black, so I'd need a lot of bleach.
Suo Zheng if you found the right hair stylist it could be done with your hair staying healthy
LOL I used her method and it worked! A year later I went to a salon nearby with a perfect 5 star rating, and they RUINED my hair. Couldn't even get all of the yellow out. Not even after the second visit with the OWNER>
Its so 2008
That coconut oil before you bleach trick is honestly such a lifesaver! I've used it twice and my hair feels barely damaged at all
Do you rince it off before applying bleach or do you leave it ?
@@cl6430 u leave iit on, the bleach would puncture through the oiil
plu2 iit2 better to dye on diirty haiir 2o u dont damage iit further n dry iit out
But... wouldn't it bleach the hair less, and you end up with a darker color than if you'd just used h3O or something?
@@bellar4484 yes absolutely. The coconut oil is totally unnecessary. If she hadn't used it she probably would have just gotten to the shade she wanted without bleaching twice lol
Can I use conditioner instead?
Isaac garcia thank you I was wondering how bleach worked with the coconut oil
Isaac garcia ...what. In. The. Actually hell
Isaac garcia wow i have been bleaching my haor for years and never new the coconut oil could help w bleaching definately will do next time
Do you recommend the black to blonde in 30 volume twice or just once?
Tabie-sam Vernon ty for adding!
@@samvernon7909 Is that why she put oil in her hair and scalp so it would add a layer of protection? Currently in phase 1 of this video :)

@Kayla Pich I agree. Just did this on my boyfriend with a 30 vol and it's fine, same amount of damage processing twice would do.
@Brad Mondo Yah hear that?? Something for you to watch that might encourage you for once lol ;)
@Kayla Pich The coconut oil was to protect her hair from the bleach. Either way, why complain when it came out beautiful either way? 😪

I agree
From a stylist stand point I know so many people who can’t afford to go to a salon for insane prices
So I will recommend specific products and what to do and not to do so they can at least do it safely
I’ve even went over to peoples houses to teach them how
Yes it’s money out of my pocket and one less client but I’m not about the money I’m about making people feel beautiful
Doing hair at home isn’t that bad
And coconut oil does help hair keep integrity it’s close enough to olaplex
Thanks for the helpful informations ! Have a nice day :)
Ummm help!!
Hi, I'm wondering if you can tell me what's the best bleach to use to get white, blonde.
With the toner, is there a certain number or even brand i need? I couldnt see what she was using

sameeee...
Thanks for the tip ;D
A thick Hair Conditioner or Night Cream applied as a barrier around the face/hairline, works even better.. And ALWAYS wear gloves.
Personally I don't like that :( salon put that on my skin and my cap kept falling into my eyes so I had to hold it up the whole processing time
Have used this method for my grow out every time since finding this video. My hair comes out perfect every time, no shadow line or anything. Thank you for posting and helping make my silver hair dreams come true
Caitlin Gust yay I’m so glad to hear this
I know your comment was 2 years age but did you bleach yours 2 times and if so what color is you natural color I'm not hear to judge just asking a question I want my hair like this I did it only but forgot what toner I used
I swear your hair looks the absolute healthiest bleached hair I’ve EVER seen
kaitlyn xo wait a few months. I literally just had to cut off all my hair because I bleached it lmao it was stretching and breaking off and not even like growing longer because it just broke off and shit.
Rxxle yeah she dyed her roots mostly so I think that’s why it looks healthy
I did.. and then months after that! I did this for two years and it was good :) Thats why I made the video.
steph I think her hair is just naturally thin, and the coconut oil helps prevent some of the damage. Obviously if you bleach your hair often, it's not healthy. But cutting off the dead ends and using coconut oil helps it to /look/ okay
@steph Her hair is fine/thin naturally. She did it right as much as one can do if bleaching and it looks great.
What I'm seeing throughout the comments and the video:
4. Gloves: USE GLOVES even when mixing and not applying
5. Consistency: Use ratios and measure things instead of "pudding" or "jello" because you're bleaching hair. Unless you don't mind going bald, be precise for your own sake.
You say gloves...what about the scalp then...how's that protected?
@@ajhuser1 It's not, and it usually do get burn a little.. That's why bleaching at home may be so dangerous too
Coconut oil is not similar to olaplex, jesus
@@ajhuser1 you shouldn't apply the bleach on your scalp. The heat conducts the bleach, so if you apply near your roots is enough. Hallf centimeter or something like that is good, your roots will be bleached and it won't touch your scalp
coconut oil is nothing like olapex
Just want you to know that because of your video, I've been bleaching my hair to a white platinum for over a year using your method! Only thing I changed was that I start with a 20 vol then I gradually go into a 30 (because my hair is darker than yours). I also switched the coconut oil with a redken extreme hair mask just because the oil made the bleaching a bit blotchy but the hair mask protects really well. Thanks for making this very easy to follow. People ask me all the time where I get my hair done and I love being able to say I do it myself!
Does 30 damage more than 20?
Like im gonna try it but do i do a 20 more than once or a 30 and less times?
I think 20 then wait awhile then 20 the wait. Like ill wait a week per.... is that right?
Sandwoman the higher the volume number, the faster it processes. 30 is a bit harder to control than 20 so it can damage your hair more if you accidentally overprocess.
I personally do my bleachings a day a part which isn’t recommended by stylists. Just be careful, use hair mask treatments before bleachings and start with a 20 to see how your hair and scalp react
Where do you buy the powder? I can’t find it anywhere

Gurlll you're so brave, I bet that scalp was literally lit 😂 but it turned out so even, so icy, so beautiful! Most people would be too afraid to bleach the roots twice so they'd just tone them but it always ends up patchy and the brassiness quickly creeps in. Loved this video :)
lixo I always bleach twice. my scalp doesn't even itch or turn red ever. depends on your skin I guess
lixo has more to do with how much oil your scalp produces. Your scalp will dry out. It is unhealthy.
lixo That's what the coconut oil is for. Helps protect the hair and scalp. Wish I knew that back in high school 😂
StateOfDisorder even tho it protects, it doesn't provide from burning off your hair/scalp 😂
instead of paying $150-$200 to get this professionally done, i’m only paying $40. thank you so much! i’m also adding wella color charm 050 to give it an even cooler violet look
Okay right, now I miss my white hair !
Really enjoyed this video, as a hairdresser my only reccomendation when colouring especially bleaching hair is to always start with the back sections xx
Thanks for the advice ! I love watching diys hair videos because there are always nice hair dressers giving away tips in the comments haha
Thank you for this, I’m about to try box dye for the first time and wondering which part of my head to start on!
Hey can someone Tel me what the toner is that was used pls n brand if possible
Using gloves, properly measuring product and applying the tóner to wet hair.

Did it damage your hair ?
I'm really wanna do it but I'm also trying to grow my hair out long so I'm hesitant :/
What color was the hair you bleached over? I want to do it. My hair is brown though so I’m not sure if I’d get the same results.
I always bleach my hair ,
but now I notice in the ends especially, it's turning orangey

Coconut oil before bleaching seems like a pretty smart idea. This was kinda satisfying to watch.
Okay, so I've finally tried it. I have a little more hair, so I had to make a few solutions (followed your measurements and exact products, though) and I did it twice in the same day.
I wonder if Jojoba oil or rose hip seed oil would work as well.
Tamara Talbert As someone who does hair "professionally", you should know that coconut oil does nothing for the hair, except make it feel oily. The coconut oil cannot be absorbed into the hair, so it just sits there, and then doesn't let other products work.
Coconut oil eats away at the keratin. Not good for hair at all.
These videos are why I get people with a level 6 or darker hair coming in wanting to be platinum in a day with all their hair still attached
why? the video was filmed over 2 days, it said to wait for the next application.
what Veronica's saying is: clients don't see the time lapse, the thin and finess of her hair, or the risk of double bleaching.
One word: Olaplex
Cant only certified hairdressers/barbers get Olaplex or did I hear the wrong info?
I'm really curious, how well does the coconut oil help to protect your hair while bleaching? Like, do you have barely any damage at all?
Chubby Cake it helps a bit I've noticed... I think it soothes my hair and I've read it does help with a bit of protection. It's a nice (and successful) hair mask afterwards to sleep in. But what I mainly use it for in my bleaching process is to make the sectioning and application easier. I've done it a ton before without coconut oil and it would get so messy with dry hair and wetting your hair isn't good so coconut oil does both protect and put nutrients into the hair and it makes it super easy to apply to bleach!!!
SUTTON GROVE Thank you for replying!
SUTTON GROVE I've bleached for years and just recently went to a level 12 cool blonde hi lift color. I found that coconut oil for me i didn't have to leave bleach on as long. It worked like a boost to process faster.
Personally, leaving it overnight will increase the benefits of coconut oil :) ive done that and it did only half of the damage it would have done
Thank you for posting. Very interesting to watch. Was it just me or did anyone else like the LAVENDER color on her???
iLoveLeatherNYC thanks girl
Platinum Blonde looks good on you, and I can't believe you did the process on your own, You did an amazing job
Thanks girl! Took lots of trial and errors, but this saves me hundreds of dollars so it's been worth it to have the color I want :)
Wow you did a better job than most of the hair salons in my city could ever do! :o
Best DIY platinum blonde tutorial I've seen.
Wow that was impressive work and the result is gorgeous. No way I would feel up to that challenge of doing it all by myself, though.
Wassup wit all these negative comments. She did perfectly fine
omg THANKS SO MUCH. my hair is the same colour as your roots were, i never knew what developer to use but i tried with 30 vol and it left a yellow tint to it. even after i used a toner it wouldnt take to the yellow hair because it wasnt lightened enough. i dyed my hair blue after that but since the roots were still yellow tinted a part of the blue became the ugliest green. and seeing that you did it twice with 20 volume and the toner took well and seeing how perfect it looks afterwards has definitely gave me some insight on how to bleach my new roots! im going to try that next and im sure i will have much better results.

I learned to do it on my own with better results and easier on the wallet...great video!!
kristin harris 👏👏👏👏 i always went out of the hair salon crying, now I am THE ONLY ONE who touchs my hair and it's really nice looking and feeling
szerencsés hogy ilyen szép erős haja van! az enyém ennyi festéktől már kihullott volna ....gyönyörű lett gratulálok!
Now I want pudding.
Hello fellow Weilder!
xD
Is this a HP reference? Luna?
Thanks for the video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my close friend Aubrey at last got cool results with it.
Lol!
As a girl with very very thick curly hair, which is often dry, coconut oil is the only way to achieve platinum hair
This is the first video that actually made sense to me, and it turned out so gorgeous!!😍👌🏻
that's nice to hear! thanks girl!
I wish you could do this to my hair for me! Looks amazing!!
lol I've always thought about doing it on someone else (my own friend has platinum blonde and always says that too) but I feel like I'd be scared to screw it up and be responsible haha.
Wow girl, you got skills!!! 👍 👌 👏 Absolutely gorgeous!

I am a Master Colorist at Richmond Virginia's Fantastic Sam's Cut and Color Salon As a Manager I Have to say I agree with her disclaimer below, as a Licensed Professional for viewers I Agree with her advice as well in the description as she states more than once, PLEASE dont try this at home unlicensed, AND without experience!
This was great. I mean I’m sure I wasn’t the only one sitting here going “girl put some gloves on!!!” Haha
It takes some skills to color your own hair, especially the back side! Amazing 😍👌🏻❤️✨
I would pay you to make it on my hair 😂😂
SAME!!!
Same
Syadzafi Muhammad S you can pay a specialist, they are called „hairdresser“ and guess what, they studied for it and can do it even better 😉
Domenico Mastromarino they don’t
Clementine K it’s why I started doing it myself. Went to three salons and they f-ed it up every time.
Thank you
It looks gorgeous!! I wish I could pull off hair that light, I end up looking sick with blond hair.
Thanks :) I'm sure you could.... I thought the same way ( my gram hated it on me and would tell me the same thing haha ) then I just embraced it :)
My hands burned from watching you 😂😭 I love how it turned out!
I like watching peoples hair change colors lol it's like watching people color or draw for me lol something about it is so satisfying
I love this video. Idk if people say this or not but I wanted to thank you for just getting into it and posting your tutorial and blog separately. This way I can read your post faster and then just watch the video when I’m ready to dye.
Subscribed. So chilled & relaxed. Very easy to watch with each step. Love It. Thanks ❤
Thanks :)
I think she wanted it lifted more. Maybe use 40 developer instead of 30?
+Jami Karow never above 20 on the scalp! It’ll burn you. (Unless you use an additive for on scalp application)
Just leave the oil in then after putting it in give time for your scalp to calm down like twenty mins.
Thank you for posting this! Officially in love with your videos! Of course I'm gonna subscribe ❤️👌🏻
K, now this was a game changer! Coconut oil and 2 step bleach. What a difference!!! Thanks girl x
She looks like a character from iZombie, in a good way she looks so good
I work at BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, and that cup you're drinking out of looks exactly like the cup we use for our Mule lol.
I tried this on my sister's hair and it actually worked then I washed it out with Blond purple shampoo that I bought at sallys and it did the job!
mimi Torres what color toner?
Teresa Hodges my question too. Im doing this tomorro but need to kbow the toner!
Sheri Wright I use the wella T18&T14 for toner it works great it’s at Sally’s
Diana Calderon did you mix them both?
Loved this! Great video…. It explains how to do it so simply and clearly…and her hair turned out beautiful !🤩 and the music was awesome 👏🏼 Thank you for sharing!!🥰👏🏼
“Pudding consistency”
Girl, not even a 2-1 ratio and it turned out perfect goddamn.
Lol never Freeport developer lol
She has managed to do something from home that I have NEVER seen any hairstylist/hairdresser do in a salon! They never ever get it right. She needs to open up a shop, I'd go to her.
she has a light haircolor naturally, which makes it easier.
“I’d pay you to do my hair.”
Why tho. She just showed you. For free???
Most people are probably gonna do it wrong and they know they're going to 😂 so they'd rather just have someone do it for them ig
It's basically just a compliment saying she did really good and they'd trust her, unlike a lot of so called hair stylists.
We're lazy hazel
Thank you so much for this video! I was starting to develop a weird allergy to bleach but after I tried coating my scalp (and my whole hair) with coconut oil it stopped for good! The oil really does a great job of protecting the scalp.
Nao so glad to hear
That was really impressive! BEAUTIFUL results!
