Just thought I would mention that US olive drab tanks were Olive drab through all paint layers, so chipping would have to be darker layers of Olive drab colours, and not lighter colours.
Former armored vehicle crewman here. I love your work and videos. The tracks are perfect as are the tools. One really small nit pick for the future though. The tops of the road wheels where they make contact with the tracks would be somewhat cleaner (blacker). The sides of the road wheels even the black rubber part could be really muddy and crusty, but the top would be pretty clean looking.
I've been scale modeling for many years and I'm still amazed at just how life like you get your models. Thanks for sharing all your amazing techniques. I'm not even close to being at your level yet, even with all the experience. One day I'll get it right. Till then I'll keep watching and learning. l hate to even admit that after 15 years I just now purchased my first airbrush. I've been hand painting all this time. I'm quite good at it but I finally admitted to myself that I'll never move to the next level without one. The things you can accomplish with an airbrush you just can't do with a brush. No matter how good your technique is. Thanks again and keep em coming.
Errr…………I decided to make mine as fresh out of the factory after watching this video. Fantastic work though. I admire your patience to make this level of detail.
Lots of highly effective tips and tricks here that I haven't seen before. The video is clear and concise, and the camera work and music makes it a pleasure to learn from. Many thanks!
Ok I know this was one year ago and this is literally the first time I leave a comment on a UA-cam video : first of all, amazing job! I never thought scale modelling could be so fascinating! Second, I came here to find inspiration in order to complete my project of 3d modelling a modified version of this tank in maya software and you have no idea how much This video helps me, not only for the modelling part but also for the texturing part and even the painting part in photoshop! I’ll be sure to remember some of your painting tips and try applying them to my digital art. Thanks :)
Excellent built! Very well done and useful. I watched both your videos of the RFM Sherman. I have the same kit in my stash and your guide will be so useful when I’ll start building it. The engine firewall tip is particularly good and your interior painting and weathering so informative!
I've watched hpiguys, plasmo, andy'shobbyhq, ect and I love their work and enjoy creativity but this model is something with a degree of detail that I've never seen. I was looking to build a new Sherman model kit and came across your video. I'm so impressed with the kit but the full potential you showed me of how far skill and desire for this hobby can go, I think words can't fully describe how amazing your work is. I hope to see more of your videos, this is by far the most impressive thing I've seen on UA-cam yet. Happy modeling :)
Great work, i was so inspired by this build i have purchased and started this kit myself, using your work as a learning tool to improve my builds, thanks you for your excellent detailed videos.
Your method of camouflage without masking (in my opinion) looks better than when they mask.. the sort of faded line instead of a crisp line looks more authentic !
Ok....first time I've seen your video. I'm subscribing. The positive way you respond to (constructive tips) in your comment section is impressive. I shall try and emulate you as I model into the future. Thank you.
Get yourself a little GI Joe action figure and use hig legs to make little boot prints all over the inside and going in and out of the drivers hole. Tracked vehicles are always covered in dirty boot prints!
Another amazing model the weathering is great.Your videos give great information on what you use which I feel helps people who are up and coming in the hobby 👍👍👍
Absolutely stunning build my friend both inside and out the weathering looks amazing and the camo came out great to look forward to seeing your diorama and future projects thanks for sharing your incredible work 👍👍
Part 2 of this build did not disappoint Andy! You have done a fantastic job with the Sherman, and I am looking forward to seeing it in a diorama that will show it in all it’s glory. Keep them coming mate, and cheers from Australia!
New subscriber.. I love not only watching you build, but also learn a lot when you describe all the things you do, equipment paints, and so importantly WHY you do it that way.. this degree of careful explanation is something I haven't seen anywhere else, and it is so appreciated :)
I've just come across these videos and they are inspiring. Way beyond my capabilities but still it's fantastic to see what can be achieved in the right hands. Subscribed and will go through the rest of the video catalogue. Thanks so much...
Great build but one tip -US tanks didn't chip. I was very surprised when I found it. The painted tanks were "baked" in special chambers to speed up the drying process and production. Look at some reference photos of even destroyed shermans to see how the paint acted to damages :)
Well done (almost 😜 diorama time). Really appreciate the addition of the mix/thinner percentage banners.. helps a heap! Keep up the outstanding videos and thanks for all the explanations
Just spellbinding to watch the progress. The techniques that you employ are top shelf!!! Thanks sooo much for this magnificent tribute to all the men who operated this tank. Cheers 🍻 Bob
Man you are so talented. I'm a noob in the hobbie and hope to be on your level one day. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your videos each month, don't stop!
Gretings from a Kiwi in Australia, that was absolutely fantastic, so much detail in such a small space, the weathering was perfect, I have Miniarts T55 with full interior in my stash, and that scares me a little ( I won it has a raffle prize) take care and keep safe in this crazy covid world.
Great job Sir!.I see you leave out preshading and the different shades of olive drab must be as good as preshading,i have preshaded many models but it doesnt look good,i will try different shades next time. I enjoy your videos.
Great build and outstanding detailing! I have some nitpicky suggestions. Given the wear and tear indicated by the grime, etc., the seat cushions for the crew should show some wrinkling / staining / compression welts that would occur after hard use. Some of the roadwheels should show some chunking or irregularities as a result of churning through mud/rocks. Some of teeth on the drive sprockets should show some bare metal as would occur with the metal on metal contact with the tracks. One nice touch would be the addition of a few brown streaks on the forward glacis as would be left behind by driving through underbrush. One last bit: the fender edges look a little too pristine and should show some wear and tear with maybe the odd bend. Looking forward to the diorama! Please don't think I do not appreciate how much skill and effort you have displayed, this was an awesome build!
Not sure how this channel doesn't have way more subscribers. Awesome work and so easy to follow along and understand. Keep it up. Looking forward to some Japanese and French armour ;)
I done the same with mine done the inside engine hatch white and all nicely chipped n weathered till researched more and found they were OD so had to gone redo them! It's a stunning kit I've got a second and doing the Meng Jumbo just now for a diorama it's a totally different kit from the standard box kit now haha spent a wee fortune on extras!
You make the best models I’ve ever seen, and of course the best models ever, you make a lot of people that wach your videos, why don’t you make a discord sever?
I cant believe i just spent half an hour of this guy painting a model but im satisfied
Just thought I would mention that US olive drab tanks were Olive drab through all paint layers, so chipping would have to be darker layers of Olive drab colours, and not lighter colours.
God I wish I was that good with an airbrush; I’m never happy with my airbrushing but you sir are superb…
In the end it looks so metallic and heavy I bet people are very surprised if they pick it up. Superb
I'm drinking beer and enjoying your vids..level of detail is amazing..fair play to you (as we say in Ireland)...keep doing what you're doing!!

Thanks for the pointers Harvey! Andy.
Beautifully done. I was thinking if you would do a diorama. You have great talent. I enjoyed watching the build. Thanks, 👏👍

The Chieftan would be proud. You did the track tension
thanks for going thru each step for us beginners
This is alchemy: turning plastic into dirty, rusty, painted metal. Thanks for the videos
Wow. A modeler who paints to scale. Well done.
Wow amazing painting great build and tutorial 💪🍺💞👍
Great job on the Sherman. Can't wait to see what you have in store for it in a diorama.
The 'ol.. "Banana in the tailpipe" trickery. Classic
Errr…………I decided to make mine as fresh out of the factory after watching this video. Fantastic work though. I admire your patience to make this level of detail.
First two tone Sherman I've ever seen.

Hi Northern Hobbies, wow thank you. Thanks for watching.
A truly masterful build.
Very impressive! You have some great skills demonstrated here. Only surprise to me was no star decals. Great job
No love for the tanker bar! LoL great stuff
Beautiful work, mate!
Fantastic work! and incredible details. It hurts that in my country such beautiful plastic models are not obtained
Great work, i was so inspired by this build i have purchased and started this kit myself, using your work as a learning tool to improve my builds, thanks you for your excellent detailed videos.
Thank you Jim, thanks for watching. Good luck with the build.
Have you finished the build?, Ocean from Australia 🇦🇺. Would love to see it

Outstanding job Sir, the level of detail is just phenomenal. I really enjoyed watching both videos. Can't wait to see the next instalment. 😉🤗👍

absolutly fabulous!
I really enjoyed watching your build. Absolutely superb, mate. Great job.
Get yourself a little GI Joe action figure and use hig legs to make little boot prints all over the inside and going in and out of the drivers hole. Tracked vehicles are always covered in dirty boot prints!
Great kit, fully enjoyed the build can’t wait for pt. 2
Awesome work, keep them coming..of course in your own time, no rush
Amazing job, and what a great kit!
Outstanding job, I absolutely love weathered models, and Shermans of course 🙂
One of my Uncles was a Sherman tank driver with the New Zealand army in WW2,he served in North Africa and Italy.

Worth the wait, thanks for the precise descriptions of what you are doing.
Inspiring work. My new 1/16th Panther G salutes you.

Good tip! Thank you.

Bravo, Bravo. Well done. Thanks so much for sharing
Youre on the same level with plasmo plastuc models!I hope your channel gets more attention!
A thing of beauty
Absolutely outstanding! So fun to watch.
Thanks for your videos.
Thanks again dude...
Enjoyed this build!
Second time through...
Thank you Kirk,.
Utterly brilliant! Realistically crazy! However you should put more "post battle damage proof" like dent or bullet hole in the front and side, IMHO 🙂
Great work. Love your chipping work it is really great. 👍🏻👍🏻 greetings from Belgium.
Wow, totally amazing 👏👏
Nice kit! Wonderful video. Top shelf work.
Man you are so talented. I'm a noob in the hobbie and hope to be on your level one day. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your videos each month, don't stop!

Wow just wow 🤩
Great job, well done mate! Love the como look, might try it on my next tank.
Nicely done! Trivia: to the right of the bow gunner - those white panels are .30 caliber ammo cans - should be OD with yellow printing.
Thanks Gary, noted!
Professional job. Congratulations! New sub.
Terrific video
Super! Respect!
