superb work - but I think those little tubular things you cut off the turret top were the lifting mounts, ie, they weren't ejector pin marks, they should be there.
Thanks. You're the second person to note that and I do appreciate the insight. I can't seem to find those lifting mount spots in reference photos though. I'll post a few and you all can see what I'm seeing. I believe everyone, I just can't make it out in the photos. Interestingly enough, the kit instructions don't show them on the part either.
They were mounting hoist to pull covers for maintenance of engine. Meng has the jib and hoist in the Jagdpanther G2 kit was thinking using it on a tiger or king tiger model. The three you cut off turret roof
@@relentlesstorm I think my reply to you must have been deleted because it included a link to a website - nevermind, I'll reiterate it without the link. I had a look online myself, and of course found absolutely no photos showing the turret detail (typical), but I did come across a Tiger 1 information website, and found that the hoisting points were introduced some time in 1944 - and apparently in May of that year, they made a few turrets with that big weld seam down the middle, that had no hoisting points. I suppose the takeaway here is that despite cutting yours off, it isn't necessarily wrong to do so, and any pedantic A hole like myself who points it out should chill the F out, and maybe not be so smug. go steady.
I just completed the PE clamps for a 1/35 Tiger 1. A desk mounted magnifying glass with light was a huge help, along with the needle nose tweezers. I managed two at a time, then worked on other things for a while so I didn't loose my mind! lol
Nice! The desk magnifiers work very well. I've shown my own during the Panther build video for some extremely tiny details that came in a RochM set I bought. Two at a time?! That's incredible!
HOLY CRAP!! That is crazy! So glad I found your channel. Great how you explain what you are doing, and showing the products. Will definitely go back and watch the rest of your videos.
Excellent work! Thank you for the detailed explanation of your thought process. It really helps people like me who struggle with how to approach an idea. Great video!
Look's sick man!!!! Your photoetch fenders and mud flaps look killer all beat up. Great job, I'm glad I saw you on the HTM, you're one of my favorite armor modelers on youtube!!!!
21:50 that little box with buttons you touched up is a modern fitting. It’s probably a fire suppression system. Not your fault just lazy drills by RFM (although they are the pioneers of Tiger interiors). Just for future reference and don’t let me spoil your builds - your build skills are highly impressive! Subbed!
Superb workmanship! Your patience and skill with the PE tool clasps was outstanding as is your eye for detail! New sub!! Thanks for posting this as I'll be referencing it for my builds. 🤙
Hi, what brand is the Metal Gun Barrel? I am retired and you have inspired me with your beautiful diorama. Finally found a hobby that will give me hours of enjoyment. How beautiful with all those details, beautiful.
Hi have just come across your video's and thanks for the great tips especially the etch clamps and Tamiya bending pliers really useful I will buy some some and eventually buy a RFM Tiger. I have already have the Panther F but have too many other projects on the go but having recently got back into modelling you have inspired me to improve, great video's and great results.
@@relentlesstorm I also forgot to mention that I had subscribed to your channel and thanks to you I am well and truly enjoying this great hobby and thanks for the reply most appreciated ..
Thanks. The black tweezers are very common. I'm assuming you are asking about the very fine pair of silver tweezers. Here is an amazon link where I found these. a.co/d/7U8rTPX They are for soldering small wires on microchips but they work great for tiny parts and PE
Great build especially the photo etch - thats a killer isnt it?!!😆 (Just a small point but the three little nubs on the turret roof you thought were a manufacturing fault and sliced off were actually on the real tanks - they are called pilzen and were used by the heavy lifting cranes for attaching lifting hooks when removing and replacing the turret for maintenance or repair)😉
Ah! I didn't know that. Thanks for the insight! PE is one of those things that is difficult and time consuming but the results are (most times) worth the effort.
That's not the purpose of Pilze. They are threaded mounts where a small crane can be attached to the roof. A crane with the capability to remove the engine. For lifting the turret, you would hook onto the three protruding lugs on the sides, which are much bigger.
I am 62 years old and these super tiny photo etch parts are not possible for me to install. I do wish that all the companies would include plastic replacement parts as I have to leave these parts off!
Most of the exterior PE you see was an from an upgrade kit I got separately. Takom makes a 1/16 Tiger that is very manageable. I'm making the 1/16 M10 now which literally has 6 PE parts that you can handle without a tweezers. Very doable
Good question! I've tried quite a few and my favorite so far is an Army Painter Precise Detail brush. It has enough body to hold paint and is just the right size for small details at 1/35 scale.
