Great tutorial. I can't believe the so much of Resolve is free! And then to get this quality level of tutorial is amazing. Thank you for your time and effort Jay!
I've been looking for a good Davinci Resolve tutorial channel on youtube. ive had mixed results lol thank you for making a channel that is easy to follow and explains concepts etc as you are teaching us to make something cool in Davinci. I have zero graphic design experience and have been playing around with different programs for about 2 months. ive found Davinci and im hooked. super hard to use with no experience though!!!! your videos have been helping a lot. the best part is that the video helps me to do lots of different stuff bc of the way that you explain everything...thanks jayare!
Thanks! Another great video. I am a total video newbie, so I have tons to learn. Your videos manage to give me more useful information, quickly and more clearly than ANY other source I have found for Resolve. I cant thank you enough! Your explanation of nodes and how they worked was excellent! The more you show me of Resolve, the more impressed I am.
So glad I found this channel. I've needed to change to DaVinci from Premiere and the whole Adobe suite and this is by far the best channel for learning. Thanks so much!
Again, is it really 30 mins tutorial?? So fun to watch and very informative. Love your detailed explanation on every node. Thanks so much Jay. Happy New Year!!
little tip. If you crank up the alpha on the left triangle (the color) in color over life controls as well (to about 2/3), you make the colours glow. And by tweaking the subtractive/additive slider in Merge Controls you can tweak it even further in context to other layers.
Thank you for putting your time and effort into making these videos! Always a joy watching, and really informative for us only trying to get into video editing and DaVinci Resolve for fun!
Thanks for clearly demonstrating and explaining such a practical application for this incredible technology. I have never created special effects before, never used After Effects, so I cannot compare which is better, but this just looks awesome because of the detailed level of control we have over each object. I receive my new computer this week and will start learning and using Resolve thereafter. I feel that your instruction is right on target for me. Because of your thorough product knowledge and excellent communication skill, I understand what you are saying even though I have never used the product (but as a programmer I'm familiar with many of the underlying concepts, such as objects with properties that can be manipulated). I feel that you provide just the right amount of explanation and detail. I'll know better when I can get hands-on.
Awesome tutorial. I'll try it with revealing a picture and see how that works. Would love to see a tutorial on morphing one image into another. Thanks, looking forward to the next tutorial.
Thank you for another amazing video. I would probably use it for a title sequence or even as a title for a location or person that is in front of the camera. I love how you can use the same effects to create different finishes. Like the text is see through or the colours are in the text only. Thank you again.
Great video!! Always look forward to your tutorials! I noticed that particles showed up in frame 0. So, I set frame 0 for no particles to be created, and set a key frame in frame 1 for particles to be created. Now, screen is blank when it starts. Gottra love this Fusion!!
Could you show how to do a paper ripped effect to show what's behind the paper? Something like claw ripped the paper and then we see something behind it.
Hi JR - Great tutorial! I am trying it with Resolve 16 and I'm finding that the trails overwrite themselves often when rendering on the deliver page - is there a way to have the Fusion comp automatically clear itself before rendering. The Trails option that sounds like it should do this doesn't seem to work. Thanks!
Hey Jay, great tutorial as always! I'm struggling to figure it out where I control the start of the animation(particles generation), I don't want to start at frame 0. Can you help me?
Thanks man very interesting. I made a workshop for davinci but in Italy just a couple of people make workshop of fusion effect :) love the fact that you share with us all these techniques
Does anyone know if this would work with a PNG file logo? I've been following along trying to get this to reveal a logo and I can't quite get it. I set everything up the same but instead of text I did the Media1 for my PNG logo. I'm specifically trying to get it to do the "grunge" look at 24, so like the logo is being revealed by spray paint or sandblasting the "background" away. I can't get the particles to reveal the logo though :/
Exciting stuff as always and thank you very much for posting this tutorials. I have a question for you. I am having problems exporting the animations with the alpha channel as a way to store and reuse it for other programs and projects. If you have the time could you do a tutorial about exporting with the alpha channel in DaVinci . Thank you, best regards
Very cool. I've only started editing about a month ago. This stuff looks very advanced and I would probably need to upgrade my hardware before attempting most of it. That being said, I think this would work for a "burn" effect on an image/logo/text.
Question good sir, after I created the particles and everything else, I go to edit and try to add the created intro to another video, but when I render it, the final result is awful. Is it possible though to add as a layer I guess to another video?
Hey Jay, hope you can see and respond to this. Every time I try to export it the particle effect disappears and it just shows it as a flat 2d title text instead. Is there any way to fix that? It still plays properly in the timeline.
I'm not sure I would call them accurate physics simulation but you can definitely add things like wind, turbulence, attraction, repel, bounce, friction, etc.
Nice tutorial and nice FX, Jay. Just a question: why cannot merge particles? When I try, it appears a error message: "Particles cannot be branched". I work in Fusion 9, not in Davinci, but I guess that's not the problem, is it? ThenI've merged the particles AFTER pRender and the particles are merged and all ink turns white. Some recomendations? Thanks!!!
Hey I´m starting out on Fusion, but I can´t follow your explanation of your work on the free version, because its differently designed. Do you know if you can set keyframes in the free version and how?
@@JayAreTV I downloaded Fusion seperately from Resolve and the design is very different from your version, wich is like implemented in resolve... My guess was that you have the paid version and thats why fusion is build in resolve in your tutorial. I´ll research this. :)
Hi Jay, I'm trying to follow along with the tutorial but I can't grab the xy arrows of the pEmitter. Is there a hidden setting somewhere that is locked?
@@celestewilliams5681 thank you but for some reason when I export the video and watch it the trails are already there and It's not a progressive wave of pixels

Really amazing how clear you can explain how everything works!

I imagine it would be very similar to this one except the colors would be grayscale.
I really like your tutorials. I hope you keep on making videos for DaVinci Resolve. Best wishes from Germany🤙🏻
Will do and thank you!

Nope, you need to have the node selected.

You have to reset the trails node before you render, really, do it before you do anything with this.
